56 Chapter 56

I look at the portal and nod my head. After months of experimentation, I finally created a portal that humans can use. I have tested it with fruits and animals, and they are coming out well. The only last thing I need to try is human.

I take a deep breath and take the first step inside the portal. As I walk through the portal, I can see the gap between the two portals. I can see the infinite void. It was beautiful and scary at the same time.

It is beautiful to see the kaleidoscope color of the void, but at the same time, it gives a scary feeling. It was like a hidden madness waiting for me if I dived too deep into the void. I shake my head and take another step.

After taking the step, I appear on the other side of the room, where the second portal appears out of thin air.

I cast a spell to check my body to see if something was wrong, and after a few seconds of checking, I released a relieved sigh. It looks like there is nothing wrong with my body.

"Good. The portal is working and stable but it still takes a lot of time when I cast without a magic circle."

More than half of my mana reserve, but at least it did not make me unconscious, just like the first time I tried it.

Now, I only need to think about how to increase the range. Right now, I think I can make a portal three hundred meters from me with the help of a magic circle and double that if I have the preparation to make a rune stone and other magic arrays.

The other thing I need to take care of is the amount of mass walking through the portal. The higher the mass, the more mana required to power up the portal. If the mana is insufficient, only some part of the object will pass through.

Because of this, I always ensure the portal has more mana than I predict.

I don't know how long it will take for me to get back to Earth, but I will try. However, there is one question that keeps bugging me. What will I do when I reach Earth, the same Earth where I come from?

I don't know. Maybe I will see my family one last time before getting back here. I miss them, but I don't think I can be their child once again. I think they have moved on and taken care of my siblings.

I shake my head and get out of my experiment room with a notepad in hand.

"Portal, check. The next one… expanding my experiment room."

My experiment room is on the edge of the palace. While it is big, I still need more space to do a bigger project, and after knowing I have a massive affinity for space and gravity, I know I have to expand my experiment room.

However, I also need to ensure that it will not hinder my experiment. Sometimes magic can interfere with other magic, and the result is usually an explosion.

This is the other reason why I put my experiment room at the edge of the palace. A stereotypical workshop for mage is usually a massive tower in the middle of nowhere or in the underground. I admit that constructing my workshop underneath the palace is alluring, but after thinking about it, I decided to make it at the edge of the palace.

If there was an explosion, it would not have destroyed the rest of the palace. However, if I place it underground, not only will it ruin the palace's foundation when something terrible happens to my experiment, but the boulder above me will fall on me even when I survive the initial explosion.

Yeah, I will not place my workshop deep underground.

~Sometimes later~

"Take a deep breath. That is good. Now, feel the mana inside your body. Feel the warm tingly feeling and then guide it to your finger. Remember to do it slowly, you do not need to rush things. Yup, that is good. Now, imagine a ball of light I show you."

I smile a little when I see Rhae and Dany manage to summon a ball of light from the tip of their finger. I can hear them screaming in delight at their first feat of magic.

Both Dany and Rhea are finally at an age where their mana core is ready to do simple and low-level magic.

"Vy! Vy! Magic!"

"I know Dany. You two are doing a good job."

I pat them both and see them chuckling at my touch.

"Now, you need to make them bigger, like this."

I create a slightly bigger light ball and let it float at them.

"Feed your ball of light with your tingly warm thing. However, remember, do not feed them too much."

I can see them nodding their heads and beginning to feed their ball of light with their mana. However, just like I thought, the second they feed their mana into the ball, it explodes.

"Huh?!"

"Why? Vy! The ball exploded!"

I smile at them before saying.

"And you encounter your first problem! Can you tell me why you fail?"

I can see them look at their fingers and think really hard. It was adorable.

"Remember my previous word."

After a minute of thinking, I was just about to tell them the answer before Rhae suddenly looked at me and said.

"Move it slowly. You said that we need to move the tingly feeling slowly."

"That's right! Here is your reward for the right answer."

I give her one cookie and see her smile brightly at the sweet treat. On the side, I can see Dany pouting in jealousy.

"Then what you should do?"

"Oh! Oh! I know!"

"Yes, Dany?"

"We should push it slowly! We cannot tell it to move quickly! The tingly things will not work because we force them! Just like Silverwing. If I demand her to do something, she will do it but fail."

I look at Dany in surprise because of her rather long explanation, giving her a bright smile. Then, I take one of the cookies and give it to her.

"Good, answer."

I give them both another pat on the head and say,

"Now, let's try it shall we?"

"En!"

"Yes!"

I see them try once again, but unlike before, they manage to create a bigger ball of light this time. Seeing their success, I nod my head and say.

"Good! Now, for today's homework, I want you to continue to train your breathing technique and REMEMBER to stop when you feel a little bit tired or have a headache, okay? Promise me to never do that."

"I promise, Vy."

"I promise, Vis."

I nod my head and get up from the ground.

"So! Who wants to eat something? I will cook something for all of us."

I laugh a little when they drag me back to the palace.
