24 Hell Fire, and A Past that No One Deserves

The world was burning, and gunshots rang out like birds singing in the morning. Lauren screamed, but no sound escaped her. She was already riddled with bullet wounds. She screamed again, this time in agony. She was dragged out of the house by someone wearing a helmet and nano armor, Their black visor covering all of their facial features. She didn't know who the person was, but she knew who they belonged to. She was tied to a post. First they brought out her children. Kara and Luna, her two daughters. No older than 14. They were twins, and their birthday was two days away. The next one to be dragged out of the house was her husband, Aintal. They had been together for over 50 years. Both of them were vampires, and so were Kara and Luna.

They lined Lauren's family up, one by one in front of her, and staked them. Lauren screamed. She screamed for her lost family, for her fallen lover. She screamed, for everyone she ever cared about, was already dead. They planned to stake Lauren next, but they showed up, and her vision darkened once more.

Silver opened her eyes, they were hazy and green. Tears streamed down her face as she remembered her fallen family, a whimper escaped her lips. A moment later, her eyes returned to the color red; she composed herself. Wiping away her tears, she looked up. Divine was cradling her head in her lap. They were still in the Resting Chamber. Although she seemed unaffected by the dream, the truth is that Lauren's vampire feelings had separated from her remaining humanity. Her occasionally green eyes and child-like manner is all that remains of her humanity. A large chunk of it was consumed by her vampiric side on that day.

.....

Silver spoke up, her voice didn't waver in the slightest. "How long was I out for?"

Divine said worriedly, "Only five minutes.... Please rest, I don't know what you saw when you were out, but you screamed non-stop. I won't ask or pry, but please, rest."

Silver shook her head. "I am sorry I worried you, but I am fine now. We need to get out of here. I will pay for you guys to stay in the Blue Mana Inn if you'd like. The place is homely, and comfortable. It's the least I could do, since we'll be working in a party for this quest."

Tora didn't know what to do. Crying girls wasn't something he could handle. It was outside of his expertise. he looked towards Divine in moments like these. She seemed to notice his gaze and nodded her head towards him. Divine spoke. "If you're okay, then that's all that matters. Let's go."

They stepped onto the portal as a group. No one was the same. They were all closer, and resembled true friends.

.....

They appeared outside of the danger zone. Multiple *Dings* went off in their heads, as the system rewarded them for their efforts. Yet, none of them checked their messages.

It was early morning, and the sun was just starting to creep over the horizon, when Silver and company entered the city. The scouts Valiant Widowmaker had placed at the gate messaged their guild leader, informing him of Silver's arrival.

Silver almost immediately noticed them watching her. She motioned to Tora and Divine that they were being watched. She thought to herself. 'I don't know who they are, but they chose the wrong person on the wrong day to mess with.'

.....

A few minutes later, and they were in front of the Blue Mana Inn. They were about to enter when someone spoke up.

"Greetings. I am Faux, leader of Valiant Widowmakers, a top guild within Larun. I was wondering if you might have time for a chat, miss Silver Moon?.

Silver turned around slowly and stared at him for a full minute. Her voice was full of venom and spite when she spoke. "I'm not in the mood to speak with you today. My friends and I are busy, and today is just not a good day. Come and find me later, when I feel like speaking, and we will see about having this "chat". Oh, and by the way, make sure that your scouts don't tail us within this city, or I'll be sure to tear them apart with my bare hands. I don't care much for being followed." Without saying another word, Silver turned around and entered the Inn.

Faux stood there in shock before shaking his head. 'I will come by at a later time. Something probably happened while they were out. I won't blame her for the outburst. Sometimes, life can be too much.'

Silver seemed to relax when she entered the tavern area. She ordered two more rooms for a full week. All three rooms were on the second floor, near the end of the hallway. Silver's was the back left, Divine's was adjacent to hers, and Tora's was on the back right, just across the hall from Silver's. The three of them parted ways here, entering their separate rooms.

.....

The first thing Silver did was lay on the bed. She stared at the ceiling for a minute before opening her menu and pulling up the rewards for clearing the danger zone.

"Rewards for clearing 'Tomb of Echidna' : 30 Gold, 1 rare armor chest, 3 Levels, unique item- Earrings of Promise."

"Rewards for clearing Bonus stage of World Quest 'Return to Dawn': 1 Epic Treasure chest, 4 levels, Lotus of the Ice Empress, 1 World Treasure Chest."

As soon as Silver read those messages, a world Announcement rang out.

*DING* "CONGRATULATIONS TO PLAYER 'SILVER MOON' FOR BEING THE FIRST PERSON TO REACH LEVEL 10."

Silver paid it no mind and began opening her chests. The great thing about renting rooms was that no one could enter without permission, and all light was confined within the room, meaning that it was a safe place to open chests.

She Pulled the rare armor chest out and opened it. A bright orange hue filled the room.

"Nimhue's Boots-Rare: Created by a great water spirit. The wearer can walk on any liquid surface as if it was solid. These boots conform to fit the wearer's size, making them extremely comfortable. +3 INT, +10 Mana capacity, +1AGI"

Silver immediately put the boots on, smiling at her reward. She opened the Epic Treasure Chest, and a soft royal purple glow filled the room, washing over Silver and making her feel safe.

"Madesi's Obsidian Crested Leather Armor-Epic: This armor was created by the famous blacksmith, Madesi. Famed for her leatherworking and fletching, anything created by her is a true masterpiece. +12 AGI, +2 DEF.

Masterwork (passive): Increases wearer's perception and reaction time by 1%. Additionally, in times of great need, user will enter a state of enhanced perception, seeing the world around them move at 25% of the original speed. Will only activate twice a day.

Silver smiled. She was satisfied with this. She turned to the World Item treasure chest. and opened it. Immediately, all light inside of the room was sucked into the chest and Silver's vision dissappeared. A soft humming resounded through the room. When the light returned and Silver could see again, she was stunned.

"Blood of the Sixth Progenitor: ??????"

'I'll just put this away. I have no idea what this is, or what it even means.' It was a small vial of blood pulsing with mana. Silver assumed it was something akin to a legendary alchemical ingredient. She pulled out the earrings of promise.

"Earrings of Promise-Unique: Silver Earrings left by someone who had visited Echidna's Tomb. They entail a broken promise, and lost dreams. +1 Charm."

She decided to wear them, she thought they matched her current outfit.
