2 Gore

Lauren sat at the edge of her bed, eating a piece of stale bread and drinking her one glass of milk a day. Her eyes were a blood red color, as she pondered about this "visitor".

"I wonder what he could be here for. I wasn't particularly close with anyone in Ara. I should keep my guard up, just in case."

Her eyes shifted from red to green and she began humming a soft tune while eating.

....

That night, (or rather, morning, since Lauren sleeps during the day) someone was banging on the door. She groaned, obviously dissatisfied by being woken up, she groggily got out from under the bed and stood against the wall, so the guards could have a clear view of her. A team of twelve guards with M4A1 carbines entered the room, weapons pointed at her. A guard put her in titanium cuffs and blindfolded her. She was escorted out of the room and into the main hall.

She knew escaping was nearly impossible after the first few times last year.

....

She was sat down and cuffed to the table. Once the blindfold was removed, she saw that she was placed in an all white, seemingly empty room. She groaned, expecting another torture session.

A few moments later, a man walked in, with glasses and a lab coat. He looked like a nerd. Lauren immediately picked up on this and started laughing as her eyes turned red.

"Hahahaha. What's a nerd doing here? Go home kid, aren't you too young to be in here?"

The scientist was taken aback. He looked at her and sighed as he sat down.

"I'm 34, if you must know." He put a file on the desk and opened it, reading directly from the file.

"Lauren Solivar, charged with 56 counts of murder, 30 counts of arson. Of which, you burnt down an entire city. 200 Counts of Credit card fraud, and harboring and abetting a fugitive. Quite the list you've built yourself here, Lauren."

She looked at him and smiled. "I didn't harbor any fugitives and I will stand by that. Besides, I did all of that for my own survival, can you really blame me?" She grinned and watched him like a predator.

"While those are all heinous crimes that would certainly earn the deathly penalty, apparently, you survived a firing squad, hanging, lethal injection, electric chair, and even a gas chamber. They had no choice but to lock you up here, seeing as how you, physically can't die for some reason." The scientist smiled, seemingly immune to her predatory glare. Lauren clicked her tongue in response and spoke up.

"So, what do you want from me then? A blood sample? A piece of my hair? An eye maybe?"

"No no, I don't want anything that you have. I want you to do something for me."

"Ha, No way man." She shook her head. "I don't do freebies."

The scientist continued anyways. "I want you to play a game. A VRMMO to be exact. My company will release it tomorrow morning. Filled with Magic, Swords, Axes, Monsters, Dungeons, Raids. You name it, and it's there."

She looked at him, with an expression of bewilderment on her face. "Why in the world would you want me to do that?"

He looked at her and explained matter-of-factly. "Think of it as a rehabilitation trial of sorts. You'll be taken to our facility and have almost free reign within your room. We still can't let you go off on your own, of course, but you'll be treated much better there than you are here. Maybe, if everything plans out. within a decade or so, you might be able to return to the world of the living."

It was apparent to Lauren, that this scientist was desperate. She looked at him and said in a confident tone. "I have two conditions, one, bring me a steak every night. Two, your people work around my schedule. I hate being woke up in the middle of the night."

The scientist nodded while affirming. "That is reasonable. Thank you, Miss Lauren, a pleasure doing business with you. My people will be here tomorrow morning to pick you up and transport you. Ah, I never gave you my name, did I? I'm Leo Sullivan, head of the practical testing department of Gore Creations Incorporated. We will see each other tomorrow." He smiled at her as he stood up and left.

.....

"What a scary woman, why would the director want her to play the game? What could possibly be worth this much trouble, it seems like she'll cause a lot of chaos. Regardless, It's done. Thankfully, she agreed."

.....

Lauren was back in her room, silently contemplating. After a moment, she thought to herself. "Well, this should be interesting. Let's see where this path leads."
