Wang Feng narrowed his eyes slightly and with a swift motion, he called forth his soul ring. The dark purple soul ring emitted a brilliant glow that illuminated the entire room. The small Golden Lotus on his hnd looked specially exquisite.

As the purple soul ring ascended, Bishop Jie Ke was taken aback even after he knew that the kid has one.

The handsome boy standing beside him was also quite surprised. He looked at the child, who was only a few centimeters shorter than him with curiosity etched across his face.

"His soul power is at level 15," Master Nuo quickly explained.

"Bishop Jie Ke, this kid is a genius. If he joins the Martial Soul Hall, he'll undoubtedly achieve great things. In Nuoding City, his potential will go to waste. I hope you can help him gain admission to special academy..."

However, before Master Nuo could finish his plea, Bishop Jie Ke interrupted with a solemn expression.

"Wait, did you say his soul power is only at the fifteenth level?" he asked.

Master Nuo nodded.

"Child, how did you acquire your thousand-year soul ring?" Bishop Jie Ke inquired further.

Wang Feng recounted the story he had shared with Tang San, once again explaining it to everyone.

"Two soul beasts fighting each other? A Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard and a Staarlight Fox?" Bishop Jieke mused.

"That's quite interesting. The Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard is an extremely rare soul beast much less a thousand-year-old one, with a lifespan ranging from five years to six thousand years. On the other hand, the Starlight Fox can live for two to four thousand years. However, the Starlight Fox possesses a potent regenerative ability and is somewhat capable of taking on the Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard..."

Bishop Jieke's knowledge as a Soul Saint was evident.

"It seems that you've had a stroke of luck. When two soul beasts engage in a battle, fatigue may indeed lead to a favorable outcome for you."

At that moment, the mysterious boy chimed in with a question of his own.

"Why did you choose the Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard's soul ring over the Starlight Fox's?"

His voice was clear and melodious, it was very pleasant to hear.

Wang Feng glanced at him and replied with the words he had prepared, "Because the Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard is stronger... that's why I chose it over the Starlight Fox."

It was a straightforward and typical child's response.

But as soon as Wang Feng finished speaking, the young man shook his head, let out a faint sigh and fell silent.

Master Nuo and the others were now thoroughly perplexed by the unfolding conversation. Bishop Jieke, on the other hand, wore a mocking smile as he continued to speak.

"Let me explain," he said.

"On our way here, the soul master from the branch hall filled me in about this child. He's born with innate full soul power, has exceptional talent and robust physical fitness. He just enrolled at Nuoding Junior Soul Master Academy yesterday and hasn't received any formal instruction yet. Instead, he joyfully ventured into the Soul Hunting Forest..."

"For a soul master with just one soul ring, absorbing a thousand-year soul ring is impossible. Attempting to forcibly absorb it will lead to explosion and death. Even with his innately full of spirit power and extraordinary aptitude, there's maybe a one percent chance of success. Unfortunately, he chose the Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard's soul ring. If he had chosen the Starlight Fox's, he might have had a chance at survival."

Bishop Jie Ke walked over to Wang Feng and observed him closely. He shook his head once more.

"Unfortunately, he ignorantly chose the Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard's soul ring, which has been alive for at least five thousand years. Even a 30th-level Soul Master would hesitate to absorb such a soul ring."

Upon hearing this, Master Nuo's expression shifted. "Master Bishop, what are you suggesting..."

"He won't be alive for long," the mysterious teenager chimed in again with a natural tone.

"His innately full spirit power gives him exceptional physical abilities but forcibly absorbing the Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard's soul ring, even if successful, will put a tremendous strain on his body."

"Moreover, each time he utilizes a soul ring, the strain on his body will increase, causing his soul power to rapidly dissipate. This happens because his body cannot sustain the immense soul power brought by a thousand-year soul ring is too overbearing for a six-year old child."

Approaching Wang Feng, the enigmatic boy stared at him with starry eyes, feeling a peculiar connection to this child.

"So, his soul power is only at the fifteenth level," Bishop Jieke declared coldly.

"If he were to be a true peerless genius, he would have absorbed the Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard's soul power by now, reaching the twentieth level with ease. But he clearly didn't."

Bishop Jie Ke pointed at Wang Feng.

"His potential is there but he's made a grave mistake. He knows too little and he made the wrong choice. If he had chosen the Starlight Fox with its regenerative abilities and lower age, there might have been a chance for him to survive."

"Now, his soul power will gradually decline and his body will struggle to endure the immense pressure of that thousand-year soul ring power. Eventually, it will fade away and he will be crippled in best case scenario and die in worst case scenario..."

Bishop Jie Ke turned his gaze to Wang Feng and asked, "Child, do you experience severe pain when you don't use your soul power?"

Hearing this, Master Nuo was shocked. He had heard Wang Feng mention it earlier but he hadn't taken it seriously. Could it be...

Wang Feng nodded, confirming the Bishop's words.

Witnessing this, Master Nuo's heart sank.

"So, he currently has no potential," Bishop Jie Ke sighed, shaking his head. "It seems we've come all this way for nothing."

Meanwhile, at Nuoding Academy, in the room of the headmaster,

"What? Master, you're saying Feng'ge will slowly die?"

Tang San listened in astonishment, his face filled with disbelief. "How is that possible? Brother Feng's first soul ring, the thousand-year old soul ring, how could it lead to his death?"

After returning to the academy, Tang San had sought out the headmaster and shared the story about brother Feng's soul ring. He had not expected to receive such a shocking response from his teacher.

The master sighed deeply and spoke with a heavy heart.

"Xiaofeng, that child is too impatient. He's incredibly fortunate, intelligent and his ambition is boundless. He should have absorbed the soul ring of that Starlight Fox to have a chance at survival. But he absorbed the soul ring of the Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard... He's probably overflowing with soul power and judging from your description, Xiaofeng still possesses robust physical fitness. However, it's impossible to withstand the soul ring of the thousand-year old Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard..."

"That soul beast has been alive for at least five thousand years... Even though I've never seen such a situation, no matter how talented he is, it will still be very challenging and hard for him to survive. Right now, he's attempting to absorb the soul ring and with each use of his martial soul, it's likely to be excruciatingly painful and his soul power will slowly continue to dissipate... His time is limited."

The master's heart ached at the thought that a proper mentor might have prevented this tragedy.

"Then, Master, is there any way to save brother Feng?" Tang San asked anxiously, his heart heavy. Feng'ge was his childhood friend, after all and he even considered him as his brother.

"It's difficult," the master admitted with a solemn expression. "First, one could use heavenly materials and rare treasures to slow down the pressure of the Resplendent Golden Thunder Leopard's soul ring on Xiao feng's soul consciousness. However, such precious resources are exceptionally rare and even if he's saved, Xiaofeng's soul ring will be reduced from a thousand years to a hundred years. His strength and potential will also be greatly affected and might even diminish... The Soul Hall won't bother with such a thankless task."

"Second, a Soul Master of at least Soul Saint level could suppress the soul ring's effect but it's a temporary solution at best. Even if he recovers, Xiao Feng's soul ring will degrade. His strength and potential will diminish. The Soul Hall won't entertain this either..."

Tang San was stunned by the master's revelations. He had never expected such a grim conclusion.

"Brother Feng, how much time do you think he have left?" Tang San inquired, his voice trembling.

The master paused for a moment, then sighed. "At most... six or seven years and that's if he doesn't use his martial soul at all. If he continues to use it, the time will be greatly shortened and there's a risk of sudden death."

Tang San was left standing in shock.

In Nuoding City, within the Soul Hall, an eerie silence hung in the air. Master Nuo gazed at Wang Feng with pain in his eyes, tears threatening to spill. Su Yuntao, too, felt a profound sadness.

No one had foreseen this tragic turn of events.

Suddenly, Wang Feng trembled and spoke up.

"Uncle Bishop, can't the Soul Hall save me? Your Soul Hall is so powerful, there must be a way to help me, right? If you can save me, I'll be eternally grateful."

A heavy silence followed.

"Save you?" Bishop Jake chuckled and replied, "The cost of saving you is too steep and you cannot bear it. Even if we did save you, your strength and potential would be vastly inferior to what they once were. Becoming a great soul master would be a great fortune for you."

"So, my boy, I'm sorry, but you won't be able to join the Soul Hall. My advice is that you don't need to continue your studies. Return to your village, stop using your martial soul and spend the rest of your days there."

Bishop Jie Ke waved his hand dismissively.

"But, you haven't even tried. How can you be so sure?" Wang Feng implored with desperation in his eyes, seemingly grasping the gravity of Jie Ke and the mysterious boy's earlier words.

Seeing this, Master Nuo and Su Yuntao felt a deep pang of sympathy for him.

"No need to try! Even if the Pope herself were here, she wouldn't waste our resources and manpower on your behalf!" Bishop Jie Ke snapped, his patience wearing thin. "You've been extremely lucky but also extremely unfortunate. If you want someone to blame, blame it on God for not favoring you. Now, let's go."

Bishop Jie Ke was on the verge of pushing Wang Feng aside when he was stopped by the mysterious boy standing beside him.

"Jie Ke, let's go," the mysterious young man urged, his face darkening. He seemed to react to the words "His Majesty the Pope" uttered by Bishop Jie Ke and his gaze wavered slightly.

"Yes," Bishop Jie Ke replied promptly, his tone now respectful.

The enigmatic youth approached Wang Feng and looked at the young child, who was only slightly shorter than himself. He retrieved a token from his pocket and handed it to Wang Feng.

"Boy, the Soul Hall can't assist you but this token may provide some aid in your life. If you manage to survive, I'll offer you a chance."

Bishop Jie Ke was briefly taken aback at the sight of the token. "Your Highness..."

"No need for words," the mysterious young man waved his hand dismissively. "It's just a token from the Soul Hall."

Bishop Jie Ke just smiled wryly. That token was no ordinary item. It was a third-class special token of the Soul Hall. The token featured not only a longsword and a hammer but also three pairs of wings on either side, lending it an air of mystery.

However, with this token, Wang Feng would gain access to the Soul Hunting Forest, the main halls of Martial Soul Hall in most cities and the Soul Hall of Soul City itself. He could also receive a substantial sum of golden soul coins from the Soul Hall at regular intervals of time.

For a child with a seemingly bleak future, this token was enough to ensure a lifetime of prosperity.

Wang Feng accepted the special token without saying a word.

"Alright, let's depart," the mysterious boy took a final glance at Wang Feng with a deep look.

She had a vague premonition that perhaps she would encounter this child again in the future. But she couldn't predict what would transpire when that day came.

In this moment, as Bishop Jie Ke and his party departed, a sense of disappointment crossed Wang Feng's face. However, a glimmer of a mischievousness flickered in his eyes.

Indeed, ever since the moment Wang Feng had revealed the thousand-year soul ring before Master Nuo and Su Yuntao...

He had been playing a role all along.
