Wait

I never had a boyfriend, but I have a lot of suitors. I never entertained any of them, except for this guy. He's been courting me for three months now, I did reject him before but he never stopped, and I was glad. Now I've grown to love him too, he had been so sweet to me ever since and I am planning to answer him today. He's gonna pick me up right after class and that's when I'll give him my yes. He did wait long enough.

I waited for him in the waiting shed near the school until it started to rain. I've been waiting for about an hour now but still no sign of him. I texted him, he replied saying he can't come to pick me up because he was about to meet his mother. I just shrugged it off. The other rides are full right now so I just walked when the rain slowed down.

While walking, I passed by a certain diner where we eat at every now and then. I smiled knowing that this diner will be part of the most memorable place for us. As I was about to continue walking, I spotted a familiar figure. It was him, with another girl who is also familiar to me. It was his ex whom he told me had cheated on him. He was closing the umbrella as they were about to enter the diner. I get my phone from my bag and called him even in my wet state. I saw him stopped and was shocked but pick up the call anyway. I ask him where he is now. He told me in the house with his mom. He said he can't pick me up because his mother wants him to stay for dinner. I drop the call and watch him wipe away the rain water from the girl, grab her by the shoulder and went inside. I cried, knowing that I don't have the right to tell him not to be with that girl because we're not even together yet. I don't know how I got home. I just did. I didn't went to school the other day because I caught cold. I didn't tell him that and now he keeps texting me saying he'll come pick me up today. I didn't reply. I woke up at 5:30 pm. I've been asleep all day. I checked my phone and there were about five missed calls and ten texts from him asking where I was. He called again, I answered. He asked me where I was and I told him...

"Me? Oh, I was just picking my ex from his work." I said in my hoarse voice.

"Ex?" he asked. "You don't have an..." he paused when he realized that and apologized saying he didn't mean to and it's not what it looked like.

I coughed a bit... "Wait are you si...?" he was gonna ask but I didn't let him finish, I drop the call. I don't want to hear him anymore. It's just tearing me apart knowing his concern was all fake.
