1 Chapter 1 The Raven Strikes!

Victor Wright's eyes fluttered open. What was that? Fragment of memories from a world thousands of years more advanced than their own, it seemed almost fantastical. He groaned as he held his head, it hurt his head felt like it was being crushed under a heavy weight. He got up from his bed and wearily dragged himself to a chair by a table.

What was happening to him? He looked out of the window. The skies filled to the brim with smoke loomed over the city, making it gloomier than it actually was. Factories pumping smoke worked 24/7, it's lights visible from Victor's bed.

He closed his eyes and gritted his teeth as the pain moved from his head and spread all over his body. Don't wake up the neighbors, don't wake up the neighbors, he muttered to himself. The sharp pain of an iron brand on the back of his left hand laid those thoughts to rest as he let out an ear-piercing yowl.

Crap.

Eventually, the pain in his head was alleviated by a little. He slowly opened his eyes and was greeted by the sight of a tattoo of a raven on his left hand. Victor spent a couple of minutes staring at the tattoo, eventually he stood up and stretched his body, well, I'm just gonna forget that happened. the pain is gone and the day's young, might as well get ready. He entered his bathroom, which was large enough to fit a shower and a toilet, but too small to fit a 5'7 man comfortably. After taking a rinse, he wiped himself and wore a white shirt with an indigo striped necktie. He fixed his curly black hair to the side, grabbed a briefcase and took in a deep breath. "Victor Wright is ready for action baby,"

He opened the door and a large man with bulging muscles was in front of him. The landlord. And he didn't look pleased.

"Do you know how loud you were?" The landlord said, his gravelly voice getting louder little by little.

"I know, and I am so sorry," Victor bowed his head, "I was met by an unfortunate accident, and was simply unable to contain the pain. I meant no disrespect Mr.?"

"Peck" The man's frown grew larger and larger by the second.

"Right, Mr. Peck, I did not mean anything by that, and to convey my sincerity, I will pay you the proper recompense."

"Huh, guess you ain't as bad as you look," The man smiled, his scarred face looked even more intimidating when he was pleased, surprisingly.

"Let me just get it from my briefcase aaaand~" Victor pulled out an object from his briefcase and sprayed it at the man's face. He took off running, " Victor's special pepper spray! all natural! no additivies! no coloring! buy noooow!"
