8 "Where am I?"

It was 7 o'clock in the morning.

The weather was good.

The sky was clear of clouds. Sun spread its dazzling rays all around.

Nearby parks were filled with children, women and their dogs.

People were out to take a sunbath.

A new day, a new start.

Emily was still in a deep sleep.

"BUZZ BUZZ BUZZZZZZ!!"

Her phone vibrated.

Its frequency was loud enough to wake a person from a good sleep.

The vibrations hit her head.

She could feel it but didn't want to wake up.

BUZZ BUZZ BUZZZZZZ!!

And it occurred one more time.

She slowly opened her eyes.

The first thing she saw with her half opened eyes was a painting.

A painting of an ancient king holding a sword in a war.

She closed her eyes again

Her mind started thinking.

The scene of painting struck her mind again.

She immediately opened her eyes and sat up.

Not understanding a thing, she rubbed her eyes again and again and looked around.

She moved her eyes slowly from top to bottom and left to right.

"God! Where am I this time? What is this place?

She scratched her hair in confusion.

She put on the slippers and walked to the window.

She could see some kids playing in the ground. Some were fighting, some playing hide and seek while others eating and drinking.

Sun was showing its power. Its bright and blazing rays hit Emily's blue, flashing eyes.

She turned around and sighed.

What the heck happened yesterday? Why can't I remember a thing? Arrrghhh this is so frustrating!

Her mind was getting stuffed with more and more questions to a level that it could suddenly blast.

She couldn't take it any more and swiftly went out of the room to in search of answers.

She was half way down when a woman carrying an empty tray in her hands approached her.

"Good morning ma'am, you're awake! Don't come down. I'll bring your breakfast."

"What? Wait...…"

She left so quickly that Emily couldn't say more.

With questions still popping in her head, she went back into the room and waited

Sitting on the couch, she closed her eyes and tried hard to remember what happened last night.

Suddenly she remembered a part of it where she was running like a mad woman with Daniel.

She stood up. Her eyes widened.

"Who was that!?.. No it's just… not ture… arrrghhh what did you do Emily?"

She ran her hands into her hair and disheveled them. She wished to dig a deep deep hole, just crawl into it and never come back. She bit her nails and kept moving here and there with nervousness.

Walking here and there, her eyes suddenly fell on the corner of the room.

She saw a large number of stuffed toys. Last night memories of her with Daniel at the toy shop flashed through her mind.

"No, no I didn't. That's not possible. I didn't do that." She cried out loud.

"Sorry madam! What did you say?" the waitress showed up with a food tray in her hands

Emily didn't answer her and got out of the room hurriedly.

She was moving so quickly that she didn't even notice that she wasn't wearing her shoes.

Not looking around, she rushed out.

When she was out of the hotel, she looked down at her bare feets and made a pessimistic face.

"No! I'm not going in again. Ohh God! Why do I not have any brain!"

She timidly looked around and saw a green painted public bench to her right.

She moved her bare feet and walked towards it. She sat on a bench  and covered her face with hands.

She was still in shock. Embarrassment wasn't fading away from her face.

A worker from the hotel came out. It seemed like he was looking for someone.

Eventually, he caught sight of Emily sitting on the bench.

He was not sure if she was the person who he was looking for. Still he came closer to see her face . He now was sure.

"Ma'am you left your things inside. Would you pick them up please?" asked a worker from the hotel.

Emily looked up at him.

"What!" She looked at her feet again.

"Oh yeah right! I'm coming."

She took her phone from the side and walked behind the man.

She was in that room again.

Not wanting to see the toys again, she still took a glimpse of them.

"Arghhh! No! Don't look at them Emily."

She shook her head and moved her eyes to the opposite side.

Putting on her shoes, she turned to the worker.

"Whoever brought me here, tell him to take these stuffed toys back or throw them out. I'll be going then." She said and moved out.

Emily started walking on a footpath by the side of the road with her hands in her pockets. The good weather was the only thing that felt good to her. The rays of the sun were warm and comfortable. They were sparkling like autumn waves in the eyes of Emily.

People were enjoying the warm sunlight in a park. She spread her arms enjoying the warmth of the sun. It was peaceful. She was at last feeling good. She took out her phone from her pocket and played Betty George's song" The Winter Days".

For a moment she forgot everything and was lost in the song.

"Hug me.. when you.. get a chance and…."

She was singing in her mind along with the song.

After a while she reached the cafe.

"A glass of warm milk and French toast please"

She ordered her breakfast and leaned against the chair stretching her arms and legs.

After having breakfast , Emily left for her room at the back side of the cafeteria.

The moment she stepped in, her heart felt pain.

The darkness , the heavy brooding silence and just the sound of water droplets dripping from the tap.
