6 Chapter 6 Mia

The lovely smell of coffee brewing was simply the most intoxicating scent to me that I couldn't wait to get a cup for myself as I sat waiting for it at the same coffee shop where I had met jeon several days back.

I do admit that this was probably the most pathetic idea I had ever come up with in my life, but that knowledge didn't stop me from going by the same coffee shop a few more times than usual with hopes that I might miraculously run into him again like it happens in movies. But that was my seventh time there, and I was yet to realize that Hollywood dream.

After a few minutes of waiting anxiously for my coffee, a boyish looking waiter came and served me my espresso for which I thanked him with a polite smile. But it turned out he wasn't exactly the smiling type, because he didn't bother returning it, instead he just bowed slightly and left me to serve so many other people that were filled up the entire place quicker than a train during rash hour.

With a soft sigh, I picked up my steaming mug and inhaled from it deeply before sipping some of my coffee. It tasted absolutely amazing of course and it also made me feel alive enough to forget for a minute, that I was no regular customer for that particular day. Instead, I was a woman on a hunt for one gorgeous man who probably forgot all about her to even remember her name.

Loneliness is indeed a terrible thing.

Still I managed to stay there up until my third cup then grew tired of waiting for something that was too much a fairly tale to happen in real life. I ordered another coffee for Bona and decided that it was time to leave.

After I finally had Bona's coffee delivered, I picked up my purse from the table and started straight for the exit, but my phone chose to vibrate with a text just when I was about to walk out. That text got me distracted enough to not see a young couple coming in at that exact same time I was going out.

I crashed right into them and sent the girl flying all the way to the floor near the counter.

"Oh my God!! Am so sorry" I screamed out in shock as the girl was now sprawled out across the floor and the guy was immediately on his knees trying to get her up to her feet.

Everyone in the cafe were looking at us now and I was too embarrassed in that moment to do anything rather than stand there and watch everything unfold like the rest of the other spectators.

I patiently waited for that load of insults or something of that sort from either one of them, but to my surprise, the couple involved didn't seem at all affected. Infact they seemed to be totally lost in each other's eyes to even notice that I was standing there with them to begin with.

The guy managed to help the girl up and they walked hand in hand right past me to settle down on one of the tables near the counter.

It was the most weird thing to experience really and I can't say how shocked I was to see such a reaction, but I also took a hint that my apology was not relevant at that point, let alone wanted. So I got out of there as quickly as possible with Bona's coffee safely held tightly in my hands.

Once outside, I took a very deep breath of the crispy air that smelled mostly of soil. This was as a result of the unrelenting rain that had been pouring for most of the day. The rain actually made the weather seem even more lonelier for some of us who didn't have anyone to go out with.

It was cold out there as well and as the breeze started to chill my sorry ass to the bone, I started to get some clarity on how ridiculous it was for me to be out there hoping to meet someone who had probably forgotten all about me and was most likely in the arms of some other beautiful woman right at that moment.

I inwardly groaned at my own stupidity and picked up pace as I crossed to the other side of the street where another roll of seaside cafes seemed to go on forever.

I walked a little bit further down to where I could get the bus home, but I didn't get to reach the place before I spotted someone very familiar at one of the corner cafes. It was Him.
