6 Time

~Time is a fortress. It cannot be escaped from nor broken into. Time is constant.~

Ruby? Her family is here? Why? And why would my parents invite them over? Unless, they are rich or important somehow. I really should find a way to get on a computer...

"The dining room is this way, my wife and I have appetizers ready. Let us get to know each other some more," my stepfather said. "I am sure you three would like to sit down."

"Of course. Please excuse me for asking, but I heard you have a daughter. Where could she be hiding?" A female voice asked. Probably the wife Mr. Rouge was talking about. I think her name is Beth?

"At a friend's house helping them with their animals. She really is a sweetheart when it comes to these things. I am sure she will be here the next time you are." Laying it on thick mother, you are almost believable. I wish that was actually what she thought of me. Maybe I would have had... no. Don't even think about it. Hope is a false prophet, and thinking of what might be is pointless. I've found this out multiple times.

"Mom, I want to go home. I have homework I need to do, and the catch up the school gave me. Please?" I heard Ruby whine. So she is a popular after all. Wait, did I miss parts of the conversation? Looking at the clock that reads 8:45, I realize I would only get 45 minutes of sleep before they leave. Better hurry?

Why did I lose myself again? Daydreaming is not the answer to anything. Causes trouble actually. Fear starts to creep up on me. Why now? There are still 45 minutes, I shouldn't be feeling this. My breathing starts to hitch. Calm down, think about a library. The amazing places books can take you, ever so far away.

Getting my emotions under control, I find the clock reading 9:25. Well, my free time is almost up. Not that I found out anything useful. Too busy thinking again.

"Have a good evening, we hope to see you again sometime," Mother sounded slightly sad. Of course, play the sad to see you go card. Makes friends, soothes enemies. She has used it a ton.

"We will. Have a good night. Keep in touch?" Beth sounds... I can't read her tone. How?

"Of course, have a safe drive." Richerd says.

They all said their final goodbyes, and then Ruby's family left. I heard steps coming down the hall. Backing up, I barely got out of the way of the door as it swung open.

"So what did you hear, little bitch? Not anything important I hope?" My stepfather's voice rang loud.

"All I heard was them introduce themselves, that's all." Crap I was panicking again. Why am I so on edge?

"So you were eavesdropping on us. I should have figured that much. Well, since it is a Saturday, what should I do with you?" He mutters. Wait, where is my mother? Shit. No no no no no no no no no no no no no. He can't be alone. Please, if you were ever a mom, please show up.

"I will give you three choices. One, I play with your titties. Two, I kick the shit out of you. And three, both. You have two seconds to decide."

"Option two," I said with no hesitation.

"Too late. I already chose number three." My stepfather grinned.

Screaming never helps. So I stayed quiet. Didn't stop me from crying though. It never will.
