3 In The Classroom

"Here it is," I told the girl who bothered me in the hall. "See you around I guess.." I mumbled walking away.

"I didn't get your name."

"Didn't you hear the girls in the hall? I'm The Crazy Suicidal girl. You should forget you ever talked to me unless, you want to be an outcast too," I was sad I was going to lose the first friend I might have ever had, but what I told her was true. I was an outcast created by my mother.

"I'm Ruby. I'm new, as you noticed, and your name can't be 'the crazy suicidal girl'. Why would you even.."

"Look, I know you probably want to be friends with me, but you should ignore me, or better yet, forget I even exist. And to do that you don't need my name, or me talking to you. So please, please just leave me alone."

Crap, I was about to cry. I needed to get to the washroom before the tears came out. Even if Ruby persists when talking to me, she can't do it while I can't hear her. I was about to open the bathroom door when the bell rang.

Some time later, after I got to class late, the end of the school day happened. Ruby had followed my advice, she was now friends with the popular girls.

I guess a small part of me had hoped that she would continue to bother me, but it was for the best. I might as well not dwell on it. Guess I should be worrying about what is going to happen when my parents pick me up from school. By now they have been told that I was late to class first period.

"And you were where, Miss Skriben, that made you late for the first period?" Principal Thans asked me.

" I had a feminine emergency to deal with, sir. I am very sorry I was late to class. It won't happen again." I replied. I was just saying it to make him happy, like come on, it's the only thing I can do right.

" Very well, but I have informed your parents of this. They are very worried about your well being after all." The principal stated. Lovely, a beating when I get home. Sounds like fun.

Finally my mother walked into the office. "Penelope, come along. We are going home. Thank you Mr. Thanes. Have a good evening." She smiled. 'Shit, its Friday. I'm really in for it.' Thinking to myself, I started thinking of excuses to get out of the pain for when I get home.

I have this little problem, where I just can't seem to bruise. I can get cut and all that. I still feel the pain from the hits afterwards. But I just don't bruise.

My wonderful parents take full advantage of this. They are careful not to cut me, or touch my face, in case the injuries show.

"Why were you late to class?" Mother asked.

"Someone talked to me, and I felt overwhelmed." Was my response. The truth was better than lying in this case. My mind still hadn't come up with a decent excuse.

"Overwhelmed? So now you feel overwhelmed now. What next, your gonna go crying at everything anyone says now?" Mother snarled,

"Guess what bitch, life isn't all about you. So the next time you feel overwhelmed don't disturb others. The Principal called us worried when you were late. We told him you were dropped off, and went inside the school before I left. We were on the phone for ten minutes until you showed up to class. We're home."
