Chapter 7 dark

~Darkness can overwhelm us in times of pain and sorrow. But Darkness can also heal the wounds the light has left us with.~

I opened my eyes. But, I wasn't in control of my movements. What happened? How... Why can't I move? Who is making me move?

_Just rest. Let yourself rest. I will take care of your pain, Penny._

Beeeeeep.

My alarm? But I just woke up. Wait, what is this weird feeling? I feel numb, painless almost. Impossible. I haven't felt no pain in... I can't remember when the last time I felt like this was.

Heading outside my room, I came across a backpack with a note on top.

'Take this and leave my house. Never come back. Make sure to show up at school. We don't need your drama.'

Inside was clothing and cash. My birth certificate was also in the bag. What happened yesterday to cause them to kick me out?

_I showed them that you were not something to be taken lightly, Penny._

Okay so, I'm no psychological specialist here, but I think I may be insane. And have split-personality disorder. The cherry on top of it all? I'm homeless.

Crap, I have school today. Worry about all that later.

The halls were empty as I entered the school. Principal Thans was standing by the entrance waiting for me.

"Your parents called saying that you were going to be late. Head to class now young lady." He sounded angry.

"Yes sir," I replied. Quickly heading to math, I bumped into someone.

"Excuse me, miss, can you show me to the math 4.5 classroom? I happen to be teaching that class today." A tall young man with brown hair asked. I have to admit, he is quite attractive.

"Yes sir," looking down, I tore my eyes away from him. "That happens to be my next class."

"Thank you, my name is Dan Lash. Can I get your name?" Mr. Lash asked, as we started walking.

"Penny Skriben." Simple but short. No need to get attached to a substitute teacher of all people.

Entering the classroom, I ignored the gossip flitting about. Ruby looked up at Mr. Lash, and turned white. She looked scared. Probably because it was a test day today. Mr. Matten always leaves detailed notes for substitutes.

"Hello, class. I have notes here from Mr. Matten saying that you will all be doing a test today. I will pass the sheets out in a couple of minutes. First introductions are an order. Ich heißt Dan Lash. My name is Dan Lash, for those who don't speak German."

What a long winded intro. Does he practice?

"Now for your tests. Please keep them flipped over until I say you may start."

Sheets were passed out around the class. It looks like basic algebra and formulas. E=mc2 isn't one of them unfortunately. I do much better in physics than math. Funny, but true.

After the test was over, we headed off to the next class. Ruby grabbed my arm.

"He didn't hurt you right?" She asked.

Ok, now I was confused. "No, I just bumped into him while coming to class. Why are you asking?"

She looked around. "He is giving off weird vibes. I think you should be careful." Ruby whispered. Does she have history with him or something?

"I'll be careful. And please don't go out of your way to warn me. Go be with your friends." Yes, I am pushing her away. My life is uncertain at this point anyways. Not like I have some thousand year-old fate or anything. Besides, what could she know about how screwed up my life is?
