22 Her Deduction

In the previous chapter-

"After a lot of misunderstandings, I made up with her. She's like my only family now" Noah said, smiling. This smile was a bit brighter than the previous ones. I wondered if he wasn't happy but was used to wearing a mask.

"Anyway, enough with this drama, it's time to get outta the bus" He said cheerfully. We've reached our destination.

I looked down and patted his shoulder. At least I had some good memories with my parents... unlike this guy.

It was a Sunday. A cold breeze brushed against my skin. I was looking out of my window. Nothing came to my mind. I got out of my room through the window without being aware. It became my second nature to fly. Being invisible helped to be safe from time to time. I decided to fly outside again that day.

The boring day became an adventure. An unforgettable day. My heart was pounding. I could have chosen to go back... but no... I was tired of being a coward. I wanted to experience life, take every opportunity and get out of my comfort zone to have a taste of real freedom. This action was way too precious to be refused.

I took this opportunity. My body was so light. The birds were my allies, but they couldn't see me. This flying skill also didn't work sometimes. I had to work on it too. It happened with all the other abilities, except the healing skill. Maybe my healing was like a passive skill and the others were special abilities? Was regeneration also possible?

If it was a possible thing then would it be a passive skill or a special ability? It was hard to figure that out since it was not like I could cut off my arm to experiment. Ehh no I wasn't that crazy... or maybe I was. Just kidding I didn't cut my arm off.

I came back after an hour. It was study time. There was a knock on the door.

Phew. I was glad that I got here earlier.

"Madam allows you to come here" I said.

Jack came in and rolled his eyes.

"What was that for?" I asked. I shouldn't have asked. It was that damn argument. Why couldn't he be forgiving?

Jack spoke up, "Uh about that Noah guy... "

I remained silent. I was pretty protective of Noah, just like I was of Holly.

He continued, "I guess... um... I was wrong about him".

I didn't know if he was just sugarcoating and why would he do that?

"Er- Actually I met him on my way to home yesterday. I saw a hot girl flirting with him, so I decided to ignore him, which I'd have done anyway. As I crossed the road, an old lady tripped there. But your, ahem friend ignored that pretty girl completely and helped that lady. He accompanied her to her house" Jack finished.

"So?" I asked, because at that point, Noah's kindness was no new thing to me.

Jack coughed, "I owe him an apology for my rude behavior" he mumbled.

"And for mistaking him for a playboy and my admirer" I said.

"Er- yeah" Jack said quietly. He was embarrassed.

I sighed, "It's fine he didn't mind anything".

"Still... I'll treat him dinner" He said.

"Jack, you judge people too fast. First you saw him and thought he's a playboy. Then you saw him help an aunt and you think he is amazing. He's fantastic but you shouldn't assume things about people too soon" I said.

"I never said he was the best person. He's just better than what I thought" Jack looked away. His expression was softened yet worried, as if he was thinking of how to apologize to me.

In the end, he patted my head with his left hand (he was left-handed) in which he had 6 fingers and said "I'm sorry" in a low voice. I smiled softly and he left the room.

So he thought Noah has feelings for me huh.

If I thought about it, it was natural for him to be this overprotective he was good at socializing and knew a lot of people. Some of them started to force Jack to introduce them to me. A few started bothering me. When I asked them "why?", they'd say "you're hot and smart and kind". Cheesy.

Maybe I misunderstood Jack just like he misunderstood Noah.

The next day, I heard Holly's eavesdropping bodyguard left his duty for no reason.

"What did your parents say? Did they try to call him?" I asked.

"No... they said he left for a decent reason, and we should forget about it. I still forced them to call, so they called his number but it turned out that it was a stranger's number. The bodyguard borrowed it for money for sometime" Holly said.

How interesting.

After thinking these through, I deduced that the spy wasn't Mr. William after all. It was that bodyguard.

It made sense. Mr. William was a socially conserved person and didn't talk unless it was necessary. However, he seemed very friendly towards the bodyguard. So helpful, that he stayed around Jenny when the bodyguard went to have lunch and couldn't keep an eye on her.

As Noah said that day, Mr. William has decided who'll keep an eye on her, and he just needs Mr. William's assistance. How could I miss these...
