1 Chapter 01: “Guardian(?)”

The sun began to dim and the bright sky turned dark instantly as if the whole world had changed. It was also a reminder for Shen Xiaofan to depart from her house to the school. She was not in a night school lesson or something similar, she was forced by her best friend to do a bravery trial at her school. There has been a rumor that the school is haunted by a woman dressed in red. It was said that the ghost was very fierce and loved to scare girls at the girl's toilet. Shen Xiaofan is a pragmatist and didn't believe in ghosts. As long as it cannot be seen it means it doesn't exist. She was too lazy to attend this ridiculous trial by her best friend. However, she was worried that she'd be the only girl in the group. Hence, she dragged her feet to the school.

"There she is. Xiaofan, over here!", Song Ehuang called her out with great enthusiasm, she really does look forward to this bravery trial.

"Are we even allowed to enter the school?",

"We climb the gate of course!", Hou Yang suggested.

The more these two speak, the more ridiculous this whole idea is. Shen Xiaofan couldn't understand, what's the point of trying to prove the existence of this ghost? If she was there, then just let her live her second life freely, and if she wasn't there, then just mind your own business. Why bothers with all these stupid night trials?

In the end, the rest of the group followed Hou Yang's idea and climbed up the gate. There were Hou Yang and Ye Honghui for the male group, and Song Ehuang and Shen Xiaofan for the female group. Once the four of them got inside the school, they were divided into two groups. Hou Yang with Shen Xiaofan and Ye Honghui with Song Ehuang. The school had 4 floors, the rumored ghost was haunting the female toilet on the 2nd floor. However, it was not yet the least bit accurate. In the end, Song Ehuang and Ye Honghui checked the female toilet on the 2nd floor, while Hou Yang and Shen Xiaofan roamed around the 1st floor corridor. Shen Xiaofan didn't mind it at first, but she feels like being watched by someone. She kept tilting her head behind and saw no one was there. She who did not believe in ghosts began to shiver and the kind of bravery thoughts earlier had vanished.

"Ah-Yang, do you think we were being followed?",

"Huh? What's wrong Xiaofan? It's not like you to be scared of these things.",

"I don't know, I just feel… uncomfortable…",

"Do you want to take a rest? I think there's an active vending machine near the gymnastic room, do you want to go there?",

Shen Xiaofan was thinking for a moment, the rumored dreaded ghost was probably making an excursion near the corridor. She was thinking it would probably be less taunting at the gymnastic room. Hence, she agreed and followed Hou Yang to the gymnastic room. Alas, it was no different than the corridor on the first floor. She felt a headache and a heavy atmosphere surrounding her.

"Sit here, I'll go buy a drink on the vending machine over there.",

Seeing Shen Xiaofan nodding her head, Hou Yang immediately went over to the vending machine to buy a drink. Shen Xiaofan tried to calm herself, thinking that it was just her negative thoughts causing turmoil inside her head. Thinking that the headache was caused by the negative thoughts and dark environment. Shen Xiaofan felt glad and began to be normal again.

Hou Yang, who was buying drinks, had some trouble due to the mineral bottle being stuck on the vending machine. He tried to find a way as he shouted, "It might be a bit long.", and shocked Shen Xiaofan who was just trying to calm herself, she cursed this oblivious childhood friend of hers, and tried to calm herself once again. After obtaining the mineral bottle, the two of them walked through a few rooms and then gathered back at the entrance.

"Did you get anything from the female toilet?", Hou Yang asked.

Song Ehuang shook her head regrettably, "Nothing. How about you two?",

"Same here.", Shen Xiaofan didn't dare to tell her about her horrifying experiences just now. She, who did not believe in ghosts, actually got scared by walking around the school at night.

The group decided to go home empty-handed, while Shen Xiaofan felt silently pleased with the idea. The lesson she learned was never to look down upon something that you have never experienced. When Shen Xiaofan arrived home, she washes her face and continues to her room like usual. She didn't realize that there's a black aura following her from the school.

The next morning, she went to school as usual without noticing the black aura behind her. No one couldn't see it either, and others just walked past the black aura to greet Shen Xiaofan. Shen Xiaofan greeted them back and they went inside the building leaving the black aura behind. The black aura changed into a figure of a woman wearing a crimson dress with long white hair like snow. Her face was pale with red lips and beautiful brown eyes. The girl in the red dress carefully watched Shen Xiaofan exchanging her shoes while talking with Song Ehuang and Hou Yang. The girl just smiled and followed the two of them closely as if she was part of the group. Nobody can see her nor touch her, it's as if she was never there. The girl kept creeping on Shen Xiaofan no matter where she went. While walking in the corridor to move to other classes, there was another student from another class playing volleyball in the gymnastic room. Shen Xiaofan happened to cross by and didn't notice a ball coming in her direction. The girl was a bit panicked and used her supernatural power to sway the ball in another direction. Once again, Shen Xiaofan didn't notice there was someone-- something secretly protecting her. Once the school is over, Song Ehuang invited Shen Xiaofan to karaoke. But Shen Xiaofan remembered there was a piano lesson today. So, she refused and went straight home. The girl in the red dress also followed her home just like yesterday. No one knows what this ghost wants, but she seems to be protecting Shen Xiaofan from danger. While Shen Xiaofan was busy practicing her piano lesson, the girl in the red dress playfully sat on the piano while watching Shen Xiaofan admiringly. Occasionally, the girl would let a hum matching with the piano's rhythm. Shen Xiaofan didn't realize there was someone secretly accompanying her through her daily activities. After the lesson was finished, Shen Xiaofan took a bath and soaked in the bathtub. The girl in the red dress could felt her face hot and didn't know where to look. However, she secretly stole a few glances towards Shen Xiaofan's body. Once Shen Xiaofan finished taking a bath, she went straight to sleep in her room. The girl in the red dress followed and lays next to Shen Xiaofan while re-imagining her naked body. Later, she was ashamed for the rest of the day...
