9 Stay Away From Robert
Summer
I was at home with Alex. His hand was hurt and his leg also almost fractured, so he is on bed rest. After long pleadings with the doctor, we were able to bring him home. They wanted to keep him there.
I brought water to him and sat beside him. We just came yesterday and he is already so bored. I heard Hailey was also fine, but we couldn’t visit her because Robert had told us all to stay in our houses and take care of each other. Well, I don’t know if that was a good decision, though.
I kept the glass on the table near his bed. He looked at me. “You are so good, Summer. I mean, really. You do so much for me--”
“Uh, don’t start again” I sighed. He is suddenly on with his gratitude for everything since last night.
“uh okay. Well, how is Hailey? Did you talk to her on the phone?”
“Oh no, not today. Yesterday I asked her, she was good”
“That’s good”
“You should talk to her once,” I suggested. He nodded.
“Yeah, you are right. I will”
I nodded back. “Just make sure she is good,” he said again.
“She will be. She is with Robert”
“That’s why I am saying”
I looked at him shocked. “oh you don’t mean--”
“Yes, that’s what I mean. Please, Summer”
“But why? Robert was bad and so were you. You have reformed and so did he. Why do you still think he is bad?”
“Just trust me”
I sighed. “Okay”
“Yeah”
“I will talk to her later. You should rest right now”
“Hm, I will. Well, you know what?”
I looked at him carefully. “Hm?”
“The attack on me… must very well be his plan”
“What!?” I almost yelled.
“Okay, who are you yelling at? Me or him?”
“I am just shocked” I sighed.
“Do you believe me?”
“I do”
“Hm… stay away from Robert, okay?”
“Of course”
“Yes. And the next time Hailey is alone, tell me, I will call her and talk to her about this”
I sighed. I still can’t understand anything.
“Well, everything is great and stuff, but tell me… Alex. Why suddenly? I mean you believed that he has become good. Till as long as I remember. Then did he do something?”
“Just know this, I got a hint that he isn’t that good now either. Maybe he has a plan or something”
I nodded. “Okay…”
“Don’t be sad,” he smiled.
Just look at him. He is in so much pain but still smiling. Why? Because he knows I will smile only when he does.
I smiled back at him. I know things are getting rough again. I just wanted to live a good life now but God doesn’t want it! I mean, it is enough of an adventure in our lives already!
I just looked at him and then smiled more. “Okay, love, you should sleep now”
“Oh wow, Summer is in a romantic mood”
“I am literally never in any romantic mood”
“Oh yeah that’s why I am not a dad yet”
“Oh you will be, get well soon”
“Really? I mean, really!”
“What really?” I raised an eyebrow.
“I mean, I am practically begging you to get pregnant for a long time but you always use protection and now that I am not well, you are ready?”
I blushed at his blunt words. I laughed. “Oh well, I am like that”
“You are so bad”
“Thank you”
“I will definitely see you once I get well and there ain’t no escape for you, stupid girl”
“Oh, I am not stupid. We all know who is stupid here!”
“Are you insulting me?” he asked, getting serious. I became quiet. Oh shit. His anger. No one can stand his anger!
“Uh… are you getting insulted?” I whispered.
He laughed and I looked at him while squinting my eyes! urgh! He played me!
“Nah, why would I be?” he said, controlling his laugh. “For a moment, you were so dead scared!”
“Of course! Have you seen your anger!” I got up.
“Oh dear, where are you going?” he asked between his laughs.
“You played me, now I will not be here!”
“You are taking advantage of my disability,” he said. I looked at him, he was making a puppy face and it melted my heart in a second.
“Uh uh no, I am here only, Alex” I went and sat beside him. He smiled at me.
“You literally scared me”
“Scared you?” I laughed. He is never scared. I mean, really. never.
“I am. I am scared of something too, Summer. Losing the happiness I have finally found”
“Woah. I am not leaving you ever, Mr. Alex”
He smiled. “You better not”
“Sure”
Then he sighed. “Well, I wanna get well really fast now,” he said and looked at me sideways. I blushed hard when I understood and sighed.
“W-Well sure!”
He laughed. “Cute!”
“Okay love now you should sleep”
“Really? You don’t wanna talk more”
“Alex” I rolled my eyes.
“Haha okay. Fine, go. I will sleep now”
“Yeah! Byee”
“Bye”
He closed his eyes and I stayed there for a few moments. He looked so handsome and sweet. He is. He really is the best husband I can ever imagine getting.
I know if he thinks that Robert is wrong, or bad, then there must be a reason but I don’t know what. I need to know that too. And I will.
