Special Game Tester

"When will the game be launched?" Frinces thoughtfully asked.

At first, she was bothered after receiving an email, successfully hiring her as a tester of the first Full-immersive VR Dating Game, the Royalties. She didn't apply for any job, though. At least, not now.

Frinces replied back.

The company immediately explained after receiving her response. And now, they were talking about the contract and also the game details.

Frinces would be trying the game with a salary for three months. It's a short time, but she's only trying all the routes after all.

Frinces was no longer interested in fighting for the position of a protagonist of every Male Leads.

That leaves the question, how many Male Leads would there be in Royalties?

"Sorry for rushing you, Miss Nyk. The game will launch 15 minutes from now."

"15 minutes?" Frinces was astonished. "I thought I would either be an Alpha-Tester or Beta-Tester. What's the purpose of being a tester in a fully completed game?"

On the other side of the phone, Kikorin disorientedly scratched his head.

Their CEO granted the requests and wishes of his subordinates. He had known the possibility that they were used by their previous colleagues in helping their only little customer.

The probability that they were pressured by their former colleagues was high. Nonetheless, the CEO put greater importance on the condition of his subordinates.

"Miss Nyk will be checking all the routes of potential suitors in Royalties. Don't worry, we'll specially program your character and input all the routes that would lead to the third-rate to first-rate bosses, including their subordinates."

"I can't recognize your terminology!" Frinces frowned after hearing the HR Manager Kikorin.

Is Royalties a legit dating game? How come she isn't aware of all of these?

"Didn't you watch advertisements about Royalties, Miss Nyk?"

Frinces sighed as she remembered her new lifestyle. This month, she was idling and conditioned herself to get rid of the disappointment and sadness in her heart. "I keep myself away from temptation. I'm retiring and living in serenity."

"Miss Nyk, I'm sorry! We are summoned by the CEO and can no longer entertain you. Do you have a last question, Miss Nyk?"

"How can I play the game?"

"You can use the Game Card and insert it in your VR Cabin. Is that all, Miss Nyk? I really need to go." Beads of sweat appeared on Kikorin's forehead. He was afraid of losing his job because of one phone call.

"But I don't have it!" Frinces quickly responded. Kikorin was obviously not joking.

There were only around five minutes before the game would be launched.

No wonder they were being summoned.

"We'll send it to you immediately! I'm off, Miss Nyk!"

A series of beeps followed after he hung up.

Frinces kept an eye on the brightly lit screen of her phone and pondered, "Did I really accept it?"

"Nevermind. I already signed the contract. There's no use crying over spilled milk."

Tears brimmed on her uneven eyes. Sniffing, Frinces encouraged herself, "This is really the last."

Then, she sneezed after yawning.

Frinces fell asleep on her single-person upholstered sofa.

She had no idea how her "last" would change her life in the future.

Ding Dong!

Frinces was awakened by the sound of the bell and blinked confusedly. "I don't remember having a doorbell in my home. Maybe it was coming from the neighbor."

She closed her eyes again.

Ding Dong!

She immediately sprung up and marched towards the entrance. She pulled the door open and looked at the opposite house.

"Miss Yassy, someone's ringing your doorb-- Hm?" Frinces' eyes darted on the delivery boy standing in front of her apartment. "Do I have a doorbell?"

"You sure have, Miss… Frinces Nyk?" The delivery boy checked the receiver's name on the paper and questioningly answered Frinces.

"It's me... But I don't remember ordering anything from Vega Electronics."

"It's alright, ma'am. This is the gift of Swain Company to you. Sir Kikorin also sent his apologies for hanging up on you."

Frinces peeked behind the delivery guy. Is this some sort of a scam that would ask me to pay an amount after signing the receiver's signature? The "gift" he mentioned could not be seen from anywhere.

"I want to see the product." Frinces generally mentioned the thing that was delivered. She had no idea about it and didn't want to decide right away.

"Sure!" The delivery boy bowed his head a little and entered the delivery van of Vega Electronics.

Seeing him enter the van and turn the engine on, Frinces commented, "Busted!"

However, the delivery van parked right in front of her apartment.

"What's going on?"

The delivery boy opened the back door, and with the help of four other people, they pulled out a seemingly harmless sleeping machine.

"Miss Frinces, here is the latest model of Vega Electronics' VR Cabin, Model Olaf 23 Version 1.456.72. It has a new set of specs that would let you experience three times better than the previous model."

Frinces nodded her head. She absentmindedly snatched the pen away from the delivery boy's hand and signed it in fear that they would reclaim it.

As for what he said about the VR Cabin, she had long thrown it at the back of her mind.

She widely opened the door to let them enter and help her set up the VR Cabin.

They've been fidgeting on it for five minutes before one of them stood up and clapped his hands.

"It's ready to use," he announced.

Frinces smiled upon his declaration. Her heart was akin to a warrior returning from the exhausting battle in the West, galloping in the vast desert of the Gobi.

"Do you know how to use it, Miss Frinces?"

Frinces shook her head. She was too absorbed with the VR Cabin.

It's her first time owning one.

She had not taken a glance at it in any stores even before it became popular.

The delivery boy was not a simple delivery boy. He expertly demonstrated all the things she needed to know before diving into the Royalties.

"How do you know all of that?" Frinces was amazed. Her mouth widened in an O-shaped.

"Anyone working in an electronics company would know it, Miss. I also have one at home and used my pitiful knowledge to help you." The delivery boy smiled shyly. "We won't take long, Miss. If there are any problems, you can look into our website. They'll quickly respond."

Frinces bid goodbye and watched them disappeared from her sight.

Then, an exciting smile bloomed on her face.

Time to check the game!
