11 First Step

"Seriously?" Leanna frowned as she got another rejection letter because her job application did not go through. She complained so loud that Ray could hear it from his room next door.

"Hey, Jeffrey. Hear that? Sounds like Leanna got another rejection letter." He chuckled. Jeffrey flicked Ray on the forehead, "She will kill you if she heard that from your mouth." Ray made an "ow" face, "I was just joking." He rubbed his forehead and he could see a red bruise.

"If this gets infected, I'll tell Lily that you bullied me." Jeffrey laid on his bed laughing, "Go ahead and see if she believes you." Ray sat down and made a pouting face. Ray acted like a kid whenever Jeffrey teased him.

Leanna went to Lily for comfort. She sat on the bed with her.

"Lily, can you help me find a job in my brother's company? I got rejected by so many places." Lily looked at her and giggled, "How can I help if you got rejected?" Leanna pouted. Lily leaned closed to Leanna, "I'll help you if you do me a favor." Leanna nodded and waited for Lily's command.

"First. Take off your slippers when you're on my bed." Leanna looked at feet and immediately took it off, "I'm so sorry I didn't notice." Lily smiled.

"Got my bad habits from the America." Leanna twirled her hair.

"Then, you need to fix it." Lily said in an older sister tone.

"Give me your resume." Lily took a look at it and immediately saw few mistakes.

"Leanna, for this part.... you put it here. Your experiences should be below this. Add your volunteer or extra activities over here. Your address plus your name and contact information in this box. Okay?" Lily watched as Leanna fixed her resume on her laptop.

"Done." Lily smiled and told Leanna to go on the company page.

"Select the position you want to go in." Leanna thought hard about it. She clicked sales associate.

"Lily, since in America, I already have experiences in sales. I can apply here right?" Lily nodded, "Whatever suits you." Lily smiled at Leanna as she texted Daniel for help.

"Okay done!" Leanna leaned forward on the table and waited for reply.

"Hope you get in." Lily smiled and high fived Leanna. Leanna was few years younger than Lily. Sometimes she still act like an innocent child.

As they waited for reply, Leanna spent the whole afternoon in Lily's bedroom.

"Lily, can I tell you a secret?" Lily nodded.

"Go ahead, I'm listening."

"It's about my brother. When he was in a coma, he nearly died. It was when Elizabeth came to visit him with Marcus. Elizabeth said something like...she's getting married to Marcus and showed off how much she loves him. I could tell she's being real fake. She was my brother's first love. Then she betrayed him. I just hope my brother will never get together with her." Lily carefully listened and nodded.

"I know Elizabeth was Daniel's first love. Human feelings change. After your brother gets his memory back, you will know for sure who he will love the most." Lily told her as she continued reading.

"Lily, I really hope you guys can get together. Elizabeth scares me." Lily smiled and patted Leanna on the shoulder, "Leanna, I'll tell you something." Leanna sat beside Lily.

"You're already an adult now. Step by step, you need to be more mature. I know your parents weren't beside you for long and I know you also have your difficulty that you cannot share with everyone. From now on, I'll teach you. So you won't have to always depend on your brother or me. Your brother's health isn't in the best shape. He will have his hard times and sometimes the pain could be unbearable. I know you've seen it. You were scared so you went abroad for a bit after your brother woke up. Right?" Leanna nodded.

"Right now, he also needs you. You are his younger sister. After my contract ends, I might have to transfer elsewhere. So you need to take care of your brother and remind him to take medication on time. He's already so busy. Let's take one step at a time. You will be good eventually." Lily smiled.

"Wow. Lily. You're so wise and mature. When can I be like you?" Leanna sighed.

"You don't have to be me. Just be yourself." Lily answered, "Remember step by step." Leanna nodded and went back to her laptop back.

"Yes!! I got in! I got in! Thank you, Lily! After I get my paycheque, I'll treat you for a coffee." Leanna hugged Lily and she patted her.

"Good job! You got the job!" They high fived and Leanna was jumping in joy.

That night, everyone except Daniel watched the video clip of Ken Li and Elizabeth. It made them furious about how they were still blaming Daniel's father for murdering Ken's wife, when their own company was already a huge mess.

"Did Daniel tell you what happened that time?" Ray asked Lily. She nodded.

"He told me he saw the news before us. Then, flash of images came across his mind that caused his headache to occur. He went out for a bit to let the headache subside but it didn't get better. Then, he had a hard time breathing and everything around him went silent. He passed out in his office." Jeffrey nodded, "Seems like his PTSD came back." Ray went silent and so did Leanna.

"Lily, will President get better?" Ray silently asked.

"Hard to say. The doctor told me he needs more quiet times and stress will often make it worse. That is why I didn't let him watch this video. He's in his bed now. I confiscated his phone so he can have a goodnight rest. From tomorrow then on, it's hard to say when Elizabeth will appear. We also need to get ready. It's her father's company we are after. Because of this mess, Daniel's condition isn't getting any better. When the time comes, we will tell the President. Okay?" They all nodded in sync.

Lily and the others went back to their own rooms after discussing the video. She went into the kitchen to grab something to eat when suddenly a hand grabbed her.

"Oh my goodness, you scared me." Lily nearly dropped her cup. Daniel was still feeling woozy from the medication.

"I thought you were asleep." Lily asked. Daniel leaned forward giving Lily a backhug.

"Stay...I'm still dizzy." Daniel closed his eyes while leaning against Lily.

"Daniel, let's go back to bed." Lily carefully led him to his bed and he held onto her hand for the entire night. Lily stayed with him and rubbed his back to help him go to sleep.
