[First person POV]
I watched how much Peter Parker suffered, but a cure he managed to make. It sounds impossible, I mean if we manage to mass produce this cure and distribute it around the world... No, going around the world is dangerous... Or at least send the formula to other settlements, then humanity has a chance to live once more. Although it doesn't completely cure an infected, with the virus suppressed, we can save those who are freshly infected.
Spiderman was intelligent, now that I'm getting his power, will I gain his intelligence alongside his power? I don't know. If I gain his brain, then I might be able to perfect that formula and maybe work on a cure. Finally, a ray of hope shines through the darkness.
Humm... Something feels soft and squishy around my face and this nice smell. Boobies... Fuck! What the heck am I thinking?! What kind of man would think such things in such a serious situation?! I nearly got myself and my team killed. Luckily, we managed to stop that transformation and kill that freak. Haaa... Even though everything around me was dark, my brain was working, huh?! Weird. I can feel and sense everything, yet, it's like I'm floating in the darkness.
I guess, I had worried everyone enough. It's time to wake up. Hopefully, that hole in my chest would have healed by now.
I opened my eyes and found myself lying on Lisa's lap with her big boobs right over my face. Even with her bra and clothes on, they are huge! Damn it, what am I thinking?! I should just ask her for a view, just like she told me to do instead of holding back. What should I say? Show me your breasts, mommy? NO!! That sounds so wrong. Show me your breasts, Lisa? Nope. Just show me your breasts? FUCK! That sounds worse. Ughhh... How about... I just straight-up ask her like with an honest expression if I can see her boobs? Yeah, let's go with that.
I look up and meet her eyes with an honest gaze.
Fuck! I can't do this. As soon as she noticed that I woke up, tears streamed down her face. "Thank god you're alright." She hugged my face between her breasts. Ahhh! Heaven...
"Ahmmm..." I tried to speak, but my mouth was muffled between her soft pillows.
"Mom, get a grip of yourself. He's injured," Jenny said, helping me sit up. Her eyes looked red as if she'd been crying as well. My eyes fell on her left hand. There was a casting around her right elbow. And small cuts around her cheeks and left arms. "Don't push yourself."
I looked around. I was sitting on the bed with my back leaning on the wall.
"Where are we? How long was I out?" I asked.
"We're still in Kentucky. We couldn't move you after your injury, so, we cleaned up the town and set up a barricade here. Doc tried his best. But the injury was too deep. You've been unconscious for almost two days now," Lisa wiped away her tears.
"You scared us. I thought we lost you." Jenny said before lightly punching on my shoulder.
"You won't get rid of me that easily," I smiled before looking down at my chest. "How's my wound?"
Lisa removed my shirt to reveal the thick bandage wrapped around my chest. Three broken ribs and you are lucky, that armor fragment was stuck in the bone. Just, I'm... We are glad that you woke up after only 2 days.
"How's your arm?" I asked Jenny, pointing at the cast around her right elbow.
"This? It's nothing compared to yours or Tyger's. She broke her left ankle and three fingers on her right hand. The rest of the team only suffered minor injuries and no infection. Zero deaths," Jenny reported proudly. "It's all thanks to the new armor and weapons. But, Karl, let's not do something like this again. We almost lost you."
I nodded my head before looking at Lisa, "Remember when I said, I won't make you two worried anymore? Sorry, I couldn't keep that promise. But..." I got down from the bed and ripped open the bandage, revealing my healed body. There wasn't even a single scratch on my chest and I don't feel any pain, instead, I feel good...Real good...
"Wha-?!" Jenny touched the right side of my chest and pushed her fingers, "How the heck?!"
"Are you a mutant?" Lisa asked with eyes wide.
"Don't know, but..." I looked around, making sure that we were the only ones in the room. Humm... Weirdly, I can sense the people around the place chatting and patrolling. I can smell the pungent scent of burning zombies. My senses are heightened?! So, this must be the power of Spiderman, huh?! "Let's just say, I can't die. I don't know much about this power, but, it keeps me alive and brings me back from the brink of death."
Lisa touched my chest, "Whatever it is, I'm just glad you're alive and safe." She kissed me on the cheek before hugging me.
Jenny followed suit. The three of us stayed hugging each other for a minute or so before we finally let go. I put on my regular clothes and walked out of the room with the girls behind me. Everyone around the house stopped for a moment. I can see their surprised expression. They must be thinking how the hell did this guy with broken ribs and a hole in his chest wake up within two days and walk around?
Tyger, Ange, and Jennifer were sitting on the large wooden log. Behind them was a little campfire. I glanced to the right where our cars were parked. Jace and Mia were talking but stopped as soon as they saw me coming out. The rest of the team soon gathered around... Their expression... Hahaha...
"Why the long face?" I said with a grin, "We cleared Kentucky, didn't we? Took down a giant mutated zombie Spiderman and countless spiders... How many survivors out there can say they fought a battle like that and lived to tell the tale?"
"NONE!" Everyone shouted in unison.
"How many survivors can say that there were zero deaths after a battle like that?"
"NONE!" Everyone shouted in unison.
"Yeah, some of us got injured and heck some of us almost died. But, look at us now! Alive and kicking. Sure, our armor and weapons helped, but it was thanks to each one of you that we were able to fight that thing. So, I want you guys to know that I'm proud of you all for surviving, and for protecting your comrades. I thank you all for sticking to me till the end without running away in fear. And I'm really touched to see you all worried about me. Hahaha... But hey... WHAT'S OUR GROUP TRADITION AFTER A VICTORY?" I raised my voice with a smile.
"TO PARTY!!"
"TO EAT!!"
"TO DRINK UNTIL WE PUKE!!"
"And finally, to remember those who sacrificed themselves for our survival. But none died so, we party now and leave this place by noon. No more delaying our journey to LA. And keep your alcohol level low. We don't know what's ahead of us." I ordered.
Everyone cheered and then began to set up the grill and prepare food. This time, we decided to party outside, under the clear blue sky.
.
I wanted to talk with Doc, but that guy is kinda loner. He doesn't talk or mingle with others much. He just helps out for food and protection. Well, that's good enough for me.
.
I walked over to Tyger's group.
"Welcome to the world of the living, Boss. You gave us quite the scare back there," Tyger joked while Ange and Jennifer smiled.
"Glad to be back. How's that leg of yours doing? Still, think you can walk?" I asked, pointing at her casted ankle.
"Don't worry about this. It's just a minor injury. I should be fine within a week or two," Tyger shrugged her shoulders. "But, don't expect me to shoot anytime soon." She flexed her casted fingers. "I'm on a vacation. But how the hell did you heal up from that?"
"My body sometimes heal on its own. Maybe a mutation. I'll figure it out on the way. Anyway, that grenade toss was just awesome," I patted Tyger's shoulder. I then looked toward Ange and Jennifer, "Those eye shots were just too good. I knew Ange was a pro, but well... You just earned your official position in the sniper team, Jennifer."
Jennifer's face lit up.
"Thank you, Karl. It feels good, you know... To help out... After everything you did for me... This much is nothing."
"No need to thank me. We're a family. We protect each other, right?" I smiled.
"Yes!"
"Well, enjoy the party..."
I then walked toward Jayce and Mia.
"See, told you, our boss is tough as a nail. Not even death can kill him. Wait! That came out wrong... Yeah, sounds bad..."
"Shut up, Jayce... That's not funny. And you," Mia hugged me tightly. "You scared me back there... Don't ever do that again..."
"No one in this world can make that promise... But I promise to try."
Mia looked at me with teary eyes before slapping my chest, "You better! I almost had a heart attack when I saw that wound. Doc said, there was nothing he could do other than patch you up and wait for the worst. Thankfully, you are ok. I don't know how you recovered this fast. But I'm thankful for whatever power you have that kept you with us."
I kissed her in front of everyone and hugged her tight.
Whistles and cheers surrounded us. Mia blushed.
"Go easy on her, Boss."
"Shut up, Jayce." She kissed me back with a smile.

While eating, Jace told me about the lab he was ordered to raid. He found two crates of files and journals. Then he took some pictures of writings on the wall of that lab. He also found many usable batteries and fuel. Then, a bunch of drones and weird gadgets that he couldn't understand. So, his team took them all.
"And I found a locked crate. It was too advanced to break, so, we had to do a double round to bring that thing. We kept it in the truck along with everything else we found."
"Good job, Jace. And this time if my hunch is right... We might have found a goldmine," I popped a can of soda open before gulping it down.
"Goldmine?" Mia asked.
"I said, Might have. It's just a guess, Mia... But let's just say, those journals and files will prove very useful to us in the future after we take over that Shield base," I said, putting down my empty soda can. Dang! I chugged the entire can in a single go without any burp...
..
We chatted and ate and enjoyed the day. Then the team wrapped up everything and we were on our way to LA again. I decided to sit in the truck and go through those files and check out that locked box. The system is silent for the moment, so, hopefully, nothing bad is going to happen at the moment.
Alright... What do we have here? I touched the big metal-locked box. It was advanced, alright. I can just tell from the look. Whatever's inside must be top-secret. I wonder what Spidey kept in there. I touched the lock pad. It's asking for DNA identification. "System, can you bypass this security?"
"Insufficient authority."
"Thought so... Alright, let's see those files first. I'll wait for the Spidey Synchronization to reach 100%. Maybe then I can unlock this baby. Who knows? My DNA might also become like Spidey's DNA and that might be the key. Or else, I'll just break it open."
I opened the leather file. I flipped through the pages... Oh... Interesting... This journal talks about gene splicing, splicing radioactive spider DNA with human genes...
