1 The Start (1/2)

If you had asked Jack Winchester what his worst day was? He would say this one for sure.

Jackson Winchester used to work as a special agent for the firewall foundation. He was the best they had, and he was in a relationship with Jason Novak. Yup. Jason Novak the lead in command, Jack was with him for about 5 years straight.

Then, a ugly fight broke out between the two, and Jack broke it off and quit his job. Can you blame him? He broke up with his commanding officer, imagine how uncomfortable that would be!

Firewall is known for helping the CIA and FBI with hackable threats. Jack was a field officer. He used to go out and grab anyone he could with any information, hell, any party that was apart of the threat, he brought them in and interrogated them.

Jason was the run of the whole thing. He was passed down the job and was commander for 10-12 years. He's still going strong, as Jack has read. He got metals, awards, all of that.

Jack couldn't help but feel proud of Jason. At least he was doing okay. That's all that matters. Sure, he never talks to him anymore, but it's good to see him have a good mental structure.

But, back to the main point.

Jack now works as a tech support for Best Buy. He couldn't let technology go, it was apart of his life ever since he was a child. He could take apart a nintendo gameboy and he'd be able to put it back together. He was that good. He could also hack, obviously.

But today, his past caught up with him.

As Jack was walking into the store for his shift, he felt all the air get taken out of his lungs. His mouth became bitter and dry, his lips instantly chapped. Time seemed to stop as he saw the familiar face of a blonde haired boy.

Jason.

Quickly, Jack flopped on his hoodie and looked down at the ground, getting behind the counter. His heart racing. He pulled out his phone and texted his best friend, Lexi.

/Where the hell are you?!/

Jack felt his palms start to sweat, he looked at the time. He was 30 minutes early. That explains why Lexi wasn't here yet. She was never the 'come to work early' type.

"Wow, five years later and you still can't let tech go."

Jack closed his eyes as he heard Jason's familiar husky voice for the first time in years. He cursed himself mentally as he looked up at him. This wasn't a friendly stare, oh no no no. This was a dead on glare.

"What the hell do you want?" Jack spat, bitterly.

"I need to talk to you. Privately." Jason spoke, almost in a hushed whisper.

"If this is about firewall, forget it. I'm not going back." Jack said as he grabbed his normal uniform out of his backpack.

"You can't seriously still be pissed at me. It's been five years, Jack." Jason said.

"Oh okay, so I'm supposed to forget the fact that I put all five years of effort into our relationship and you shattered it like a piece of goddamn glass? People grief differently." Jack frustratedly put down his phone.

"It takes you five years to process a breakup? Wow." Jason scoffed, sarcastically. "Look, I didn't come here to start bullshit again. Can you just shut up and listen?"

Jack took a deep breath and looked at Jason. "You got ten seconds." He said.

"Private. Jack." Jason repeated, again.

Jack sighed and looked around. When he saw no other staff around, he pulled Jason into a storage room.

"Alright, start talking." Jack said as he crossed his arms over his chest.

"There's this girl, her name is Darien Makayla. She goes by DM. Recently, she stole something very important to me, and she's keeping it in a secret base that I need your help to get into." Jason explained, quietly.

"Why can't you get firewall into this? Sounds like their gig." Jack said, gently.

"I would. But.." Jason paused. "She.. knows, Jack."

"Knows what? About firewall?" Jack raised an eyebrow.

"No.. she knows about us. She knows more about you, however. Because I.." Jason sighed, looking down. "God help me, Jack. I told us about our breakup and-"

"You told her about us?! What the hell Jason?! We both agreed to never-" Jack was cut off as Jason covered his mouth.

"Shut the hell up, do you want us to get caught? Okay, she knows about us because I needed someone to vent to. She and I did messed up things. I went behind firewalls back and I helped her get drugs from a cartel. She was my best friend since we were kids, I couldn't let that go." Jason explained.

Jack moved Jason's hand from his mouth. "Jason, goddamn it. No wonder why she stole things from you. She probably saw the articles about you getting metals. You said she didn't know about firewall, and now she definitely does because she saw the damn articles! What did she even steal anyway?"

Jason took a deep breath. He looked at Jack and then said two words that made Jack's heart drop.

"My son."

Jack felt the wind get knocked out of him again. He didn't even know what to say to that. Jason had a son. He was a father. Jack took a deep breath and looked at Jason directly in the eyes...
