3 One

Jack looked at his old laptop with a small smile. He hadn't touched this one since he left firewall. He opened it.

It was a normal macbook with a light blue keyboard and mouse pad. Everything he had was still on there, and it was such a memory journey.

Jack and Jason were currently in a hotel room. They were heading to Nevada in the morning (they're currently in Wisconsin, and it was gonna be a twenty-eight hour long ride).

Jack couldn't help but notice something off about Jason. I mean, yeah, they broke up with each other and they're working together, but something seemed off.

So, Jack did the bold move and asked.

"This isn't just about your son, isn't it?"

Jason, who was sitting on his own bed, looked over at Jack. He looked back down at his left hand to see a silver ring around it.

He.. he was married. He was married to this girl named

"It's nothing, Jack. It's just my son. Nothing else." Jason promised, leaning back into the headboard.

"Yeah, and unicorns are real." Jack got up and walked over to Jason, sitting next to him. "Talk to me." He looked at him with a stern look. Jason sighed and looked at him.

  "I really want chicken nuggets."

Jack groaned and got up. "Jason, eventually you're gonna have to tell me what's on your mind. Remember, I can hack stuff."

"You can't hack brains." Jason remarked.

"You don't know that." Jack snickered, laying down on his bed. "Well, I'm gonna hit the hay. Goodnight, Jason." He said, getting underneath the blankets and crashed out.

Jason smiled weakly, "Night Jack." He sighed, looking down at his phone as he turned it on, turning it off quickly after. He got up and grabbed his key card and jacket. He looked over at Jack one more time before leaving the room quietly.

He went to the elevator and took it down, exiting the hotel and he got in his car. Starting her up and pulled out of the parking spot, driving off.

  ----

Jason pulled up to a psychic ward, he took a deep breath and parked his car. Grabbing his badge from Firewall. He got out of the car, heading inside.

The cold air conditioning hit his face, causing a chill to go up his spine. The room smelt heavily of cleaning alcohol. He walked up to the front desk, a young woman sat there. She looked up.

"Hello sir, how may I help you today?"

"Ma'am. My name is Jason Novak, I'm here from Firewall. I'm here to request a visit with Emily Harris?" Jason requested.

"May I have some identification?" The woman asked.

Jason pulled out his badge from his pocket, flipping it open. It was a orange wallet, a fire logo surrounded by a grey wall on the side of his ID.

The woman took it and typed in a couple things on her computer. Jason waited patiently, looking around at the scattered paintings. They really change things up.

Jason let his mind wander to Jack. All the feelings he felt when he was near him. It wasn't supposed to be felt in that way. They broke up for a reason, but he couldn't help but stop thinking about him. Maybe they could have a second chance if they really thought about it.

Jason would never admit it to his face, but he was falling in love with Jack again. It hurt that he couldn't have him. He loved him.

Jason was in love with his ex.

"You know, my kids are a big fan of yours." The woman spoke, snapping Jason out of his trance. "They both were excited to see you on the national news."

Jason couldn't help but smile. The fact that he had younger fans out there in the world, the fact that children looked up to him. His son, others. It made him want to cry.

"Thank you. I really appreciate that." Jason chuckled, "Before I leave, I'll make sure to give them something of mine."

"They would love that, I'm sure." The woman smiled, something printed out of the printer and she grabbed it. "Okay, Emily Harris is in room 253. No pictures. If she gets out of hand, there is a blue button by the door. Hold it down and doctors will assist immediately." She said handing him a visitor badge, his own badge and the paper on the desk.

Jason nods, "Thank you, ma'am." He grabbed his wallet and all the things he needed. He walked thought the doors. He was definitely gonna give those kids something.

  ----

   #253.

Jason took a deep breath and knocked on the door. He was nervous beyond hell. He took a deep breath and waited for a response.

"Come in." A raspy voice of a female responded.

Jason opened the door slowly, peaking his head in. A red-headed girl sat down on the bed, flipping boredly thoughout a magazine. She looked up to see Jason and her eyes sparked with hope and happiness.

  "Jay! You came." She smiled.

"You really think I wouldn't stop by to say hi to my little sister? C'mere." Jason hugged her gently.

Emily hugged back, smiling. "I didn't think you would. But when you told me you were coming, I couldn't wait."

"I always make time for you." Jason chuckled. "So, how're you doing? How's everything?"

"Boring as usual. The food is still crappy, but it's worth it for some days." Emily shrugged.

Jason and Emily are step siblings, but they don't treat each other different. They treat each other like they were biological. Same respect, same love.

Emily was checked into the hospital due to high levels of depression and anxiety. But, she had been getting better and better. She always listened to her brother when he needed her. They were family, and she didn't care if she had a bad day. Her brother came first.

Jason snickered, "You never liked the food here. The only thing you did like was chicken nuggets."

"Hey look, I don't know what they put in them, but those are godly." Emily giggled. "So, catch me up. Whatcha doing here?"

"Well, I was kinda hoping if you could give me some advice?" Jason sighed. "You remember Jack, right?"

"Yeah, how can I forget him? You guys kept making puppy dog eyes to each other. It was adorable." Emily smiled, "Why?"

"Well.. uhm, Jack and I broke up five years ago.." Jason started and Emily's eyes widened.

"You're kidding! What happened?" Emily asked, putting a hand on her brother for comfort.

"It was a bad fight. It was mostly my fault. I took him for granted and I regret every single moment of it. But, that's not why I'm here. Clay got kidnapped by DM, and I needed Jack's he-" Jason was cut off.

"Waitwaitwait, DM? As in the DM we knew in high school? She kidnapped my nephew?" Emily raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, but just listen. Clay got kidnapped, and I couldn't go to Firewall due to her being apart of the cartel. If I told Firewall that, I'd be locked up. So.. I went to Jack. I found him in Madison, and I asked him for help. He agreed and now here we are but.. recently.. feelings about being felt." Jason sighed.

  Emily nods, listening.

"I.. I'm falling in love with Jack again, Em. Fuck, I'd do anything to get his back. But I know he won't take me back. I broke his heart, and I regret every moment but.. it doesn't change the facts. God help me, Em. I don't know what to do." Jason sighed.

"Jay.." Emily sighed, "If you both broke up for a reason, it was because the relationship didn't work out. You can't fix the past." She said, moving some strands of hair out of her face.

"But, if you truly and deeply still feel something for Jack, even if it's a little spark, you have to confront him about it. It's like a fire. If you don't give it enough wood, you won't be able to keep it going. You have to feed the flame you have, while still having control." She explained, looking at her brother.

Jason nods, "What do I even tell him?"

Emily took a deep breath, "You tell him what your heart thinks about him. It's your brain doing the most damage. Your internal core is telling you not to do said things, but your heart is the main key. You have to do it with your heart's content and your heart's best interest."

Jason nods, "Yeah, you're right." He sighed. "I better be heading back, Jack probably already noticed that I'm gone. One more hug?"

Emily chuckled, "Of course." She hugged her brother tightly. Jason hugged back. Both staying still for just a moment.

"You find DM, and you give her the worst." Emily said as she pulled away.

"I will. I promise." Jason smiled.
