Knowing

"Home!" He ordered his driver but his breathing wasn't getting normal. He tried to take long huffs and control his anxiety. I should not let her go. For days she was with my kids. She could be very lethal. He thought, as he huffed and lean on to his seat. But recalling her moist eyes on him he doubted if she could be a spy. "Fuck!" He growled.

There were fourteen years he couldn't recall. God damn! Fourteen years of his life. The probability of this woman related to him in the past was huge. No, Noah if she was related to you any way Grace or Michael would have told you. She could have told you. Or maybe she is someone my friends don't know about. But who could she be!

You can call me Mrs. Miller,

You tell me who I am?

She looks at me like I owe her something.

My kids,...my kids,...my kids,...

All the times that babysitter called his kids my kids rang in his head. "Take it back!" He ordered his driver and after five minutes spotted that babysitter. Getting out of his car he ran to Sydney but when she didn't hear him he caught her wrist and to save her from falling he caught her arms. But the moment she looked up his doubts were confirmed. But how it was possible? He was told she died giving birth. And, here stood a woman who looked like his kids a lot.

"Are you by any chance my ex-wife?" He knew it was impossible. But the way Sydney cried and hugged him made a chill run in his span.

"I hate you, I hate you, Noah," Sydney sobbed in his chest.

Noah wanted to say something but didn't. For now, they were gaining unwanted attention.

"Let's go," Noah said but when she didn't move he helped her walk to the car. He wanted to ask her where she was and why she never appeared before but didn't have the energy to ask.

He was about to ask his driver to drive when something flashed in his mind.

"For how long you are working for us?" The question from Noah got the driver puzzled but he had to reply regardless.

"For ten years,"

"And, you knew she was Mrs. Miller?"

The absence of any kind of response made Noah agitated, "Get out of my car,...Now!"

Getting into the driving seat he raced his car to his place. Jumping out of his car he ran to the wing where Michael was staying.

"You lied to me," Michel saw Noah coming fully in rage. He was as destructive as he was in his old times. Mad and ready to break the bone.

"What are you talking about?" Grace appeared from the bathroom.

"You knew she was my wife. Do you think I am a joke to you?" Roaring Noah landed a punch at Michael.

"Noah!" Grace shouted,

"Shut up," Noah screamed at Grace making Michael compelled to shield Grace.

"I trusted you two thinking you are friends,"

"We didn't know she was alive," Michael stated in defense.

"But you two knew she was my wife when you introduced her to me," Noah threatened,

"We were worried about your state. Remember, how you reacted knowing you are thirty-two and have two kids." Grace hurriedly threw the words at him,

"You know what? You are right. I am having a state. And, it is best in your interest to leave my place this instant," They could see he was disappointed.

Noah got out of their room to get ready for the office when he saw Sydney and kids standing in the kitchen. Twins seemed to be scared of him.

"Get them inside," Noah's voice came out more stern than he intended to but saw three of them getting to their room.

"Noah, we didn't mean to,..." Michael started but Noah was quick to cut him off,

"It is better that we don't saw each other until I am having a condition. If I can't trust you two I can't have you two," Noah said and they knew there is nothing they can do to reverse the situation.

Noah, you can't see.

Sarah died twelve years ago.

Noah, you have two kids.

She died giving birth to your kids.

They will be here in two hours.

You can't see, daddy?

You will be alright daddy.

You can call me, Mrs. Miller.

A lot went through his mind as his shower drench his clothes. Where are you, Sarah? Why don't you come back? A tear rolled down his cheek but he was quick to get out and be ready for his office.

You know what Noah you will come to your office even on the day of my funeral. We can never let one hundred thousand people's life at stake just because we are having a bad day. His father's voice echoed in his thoughts. And he did ask about the day when his father died. Jasper told him that he didn't miss his office that day.

He tried to get his mind to the things or projects going at his work when his door creaked open. Looking at the reflection he found two little heads peeking inside.

"Come in," Noah said and kids ran to him. Amber got her arms up and he picked her up.

"Are you mad at something?" Amber asked,

"No, I am not mad at anything," Noah replied kissing Amber's cheek.

"Did you have breakfast?" Gideon asked.

"I will have my breakfast," Noah said running his hand in Gideon's hair.

"You two will stay here. Always," Noah announced,

"With you?" Gideon asked,

"Yes, with me and,...Mrs. Miller." Noah replied,

"I love her. She is pretty." Amber cheered,

"Yes, she is...where is she?" Noah asked,

"She is in the kitchen," Amber replied,

"Great,...ok, listen,...you two have to listen to her," Noah told his kids and they looked at him in secrecy.

"You can say no to your babysitter but you can't say no to her. You two have to follow her every order without showing any kind of attitude. You get me?" His kids looked at him without giving any response.

"What's wrong?" Noah asked,

"Why I can't say no to her? I say no to you all the time." Amber asked and Gideon's silence seconds his sister's point.

"Umm, she is important. And, we don't say no to important people." Noah said as if it makes all the sense.

"You are not important?" Gideon asked,

"Nana said we are the most powerful," Amber said,

"I don't have much time. In the evening, we will talk about why she is so important,...for you two. And, I know you two can do this," Noah said and his kids nodded this time.

"Now, go and have your breakfast," He let Amber down and kids ran out of his room.

Sydney passed a smile to the kids but they didn't respond and took their seats.

"Who wants pancakes and muffins?" Sydney asked and kids replied, "Thank you,"

"What's wrong? Why you two are so quiet?" Sydney asked to which Amber asked,

"Are you someone very important?"

"What?" Sydney asked,

"Dad said no one can say no to you," Gideon explained with pursed lips,

"Hmmm,...that's right, even your dad can't say no to me," Sydney laughed at the end and saw Noah standing at the end of stairs. Looking at the annoyance on Noah's face her smile faded,

Sparing her a glance he left the place leaving Sydney to wonder how this person who she knew all too well and didn't know anything about will react. But she was certain about one thing that no power in this world can keep her from her kids for another second.

Sydney called Mrs. Saad but avoided telling her in detail. Nick was impatient to see her but Sydney couldn't promise him anything. If Noah was his old self all of the things were going to be so easy but now she wasn't sure how everything was going to turn.

Her kids were happy thinking their life will have no school and time table. Sydney was more into thinking about how Noah would be dealing with this situation and didn't bother to break their delicate fantasy.

Sydney put kids to their bed and wasn't surprised that Noah didn't come home. It was after nine when Sandra appeared at twin's door. "Mr. Miller," Sandra mouthed.

Coming out she accepted the phone and took a long breath before asking, "Hello?"

"How are you doing Mrs. Miller?" Noah asked.

"I am fine," She replied surprised at his calm demeanor.

"Can you come to see me?" Sydney heard Noah say and was quick to ask,

"In your office?"

"No, no, no,...I will send my driver. He will be there in twenty...Umm,..." Noah trailed off making Sydney ask, "What is it?"

"You sure are free, right?" This made Sydney narrows her eyes before she answered,

"Noah, I am not running a country here, I am free."

"See you," Sydney heard before the line got cut.

Twenty minutes were way too short. Sydney almost ran to her room after ordering Sandra to stay in her kids' room until she returns. She knew red was her color but she didn't want to seem desperate. So, she had to go for the blue gown and chose the light pink diamond earrings with a bracelet. She didn't have time to curl so she set her hair in the easiest bun she could manage and ended her attire with mascara and pink lipstick.

She has to wait for a few seconds for the car in the driveway. Thinking that Noah will be all lovey-dovey was highly unlikely but only if he could give her a chance she knew it will be the answer to her every unheard prayer.

But her heart skipped a beat when she saw her car being pulled in front of a club. Her expectations of seeing a restaurant or hotel or any other romantic setting sank. She feared to get in but knew she had to do it anyway.

"Where is your pass mam?" The person at the entrance asked followed by Noah appearing at her side, "She is with me," She looked up to find Noah only in jeans and a t-shirt.

Sydney got in to find a lot of people dancing, talking and drinking. The lights were low and getting to the bar took forever.

"You want a drink?" Noah asked. She didn't hear him as the music was loud but made what he was asking,

"No," She shook her head,

"Your dress is beautiful. I am sorry. I guess you were not expecting this place." This time annoyed that she couldn't make out his words she leaned to have her ear to his mouth before asking aloud, "What?"

A little taken aback Noah said, "You are pretty," Without any hesitation, she got her mouth to his ear before asking, "Thank you, you called me for this?" And, before he could reply Sydney got her ear to his mouth. "I think we should get out of here,"

"I firmly believe this. Do we own this place?" Sydney asked.

"No," Noah replied,

Listening to his answer Sydney called for the bartender.

"Are there any private chambers with a little bit of romantic setting?" Sydney tried her best for Noah to not listen to her and had a hand to prevent him from looking at her mouth.

"With or without a bed?" The bartender asked,

"We are only here to talk," Sydney said pulling a serious face this time.

In the next five minutes, they were in a VIP private cabin and had a full view of the people getting insane.

"So, Mrs. Miller doesn't go for clubbing," She heard Noah say as they both look at the crowd.

"Mrs. Miller has a reputation to keep." She found his gaze at her but didn't look at him.

"Where were you all this time?" She knew it will come to this point.

Walking to the table she recalled all the worst times that now seem like a distant memory. She knew he was looking at her back so she kept it straight. Were these worth sharing with a person I wanted to spend her life with? She asked herself as a tear skipped her eye and she poured herself a drink.
