3 Get Ready

It's been 1 week since Dante became Master Rex's new student, but they waited until his body fully recovered before they started training.

'Early morning, 5 AM'

Master Rex opens the door and shouts: "Wake up kid, it's time for your training!"

Dante opened his eyes and looked at the time.

Dante: "What's wrong with you? it's way too early, old man. I'm still tired."

Master Rex: "First, stop calling me old man, it's Master Rex to you, show some respect. Second, I said no slacking, or I'll kick you out. Now get up and get ready."

Dante: "Aghh OK ok, fine Master, I'm up."

Master Rex: "I'll be waiting outside, don't be late."

Dante: "I think I found a reason for my new depression, waking up this fucking early."

Dante washed his face and went outside to meet Master Rex. He was hungry, so he asked Rex what's for breakfast.

Dante: "what about breakfast? Shouldn't we eat before training?"

Rex stared at Dante and started laughing.

Dante: "Did I say something funny? all I asked was what's for breakfast."

Master Rex: "Hahaha because you're going to hunt for our food."

Dante: "ARE YOU CRAZY? I've never hunted anything before. I can't even navigate this forest without losing my way, let alone hunt."

Master Rex: "Don't worry. I'll be with you and show you how to hunt. Besides, this is part of your training. I need to test you."

Dante: "Sighh, As long as you're with me, then it's fine I guess."

Rex looked at Dante and smiled in a creepy way: "Yup, everything is going to be all right."

Dante: "Why are you smiling like that? it's creepy."

Rex walked to the back of the house and opened the door of the garage. Dante noticed the lock on the door.

Dante: "I guess he has something important inside."

After a couple of minutes, Rex came outside with a bow and arrows.

Master Rex: "Take this bow and arrows."

Dante was surprised. He never held a bow in His life.

Dante: "Wow, I've never held a bow before?"

Master Rex: "Better get used to it then, you'll be doing a lot of that from now on."

Dante: "What about, you know, how to fight and ki stuff you've been talking about?"

Master Rex: "We'll get to that no rush, let's get going. I don't like wasting time."

After some time, while Master Rex and Dante were searching for prey to hunt. Dante asked Rex about what he was doing here and why he was living alone in the elves' forest.

Dante: "You never told me what are you doing living alone in the middle of nowhere in the elf forest? Are you hiding or something?"

Master Rex: "Hiding? Haha, I'm not hiding kid. It's just, I like it here. I feel like I belong here, it's my happy place, so I decided to settle here. Besides, I don't like living in big cities or towns."

Dante: "I get what you mean master. I've never felt like I belong in my hometown either. I always wanted to move out to high city."

Master Rex: "High city? I've never liked that place. It's full of bad people. There's nothing good in that city kid."

Dante: "Well. it's my best bet to track the shadow figures, so I have to go there besi..."

Before Dante finished his sentence, Rex put his hand on Dante's shoulder.

Master Rex: "Shhh, quiet kid. Look, deer tracks, and it's fresh."

Dante: "Ok, I'll follow you, master."

Master Rex: "No, you take the lead. I want you to sense it, and follow its ki."

Dante: "What? I can't do that. I don't know how?"

Master Rex: "Just calm down, and close your eyes. Use your instinct to sense its ki. Every living creature has one, including you. Try to feel it, focus dante. I know you can do it."

Dante: "Alright, I'll try my best master."

As Dante closed his eyes, Master Rex put his hand at his back and started channeling his ki. Dante felt a lot of pressure, but he started sensing everything around him. He focused his ki in the direction of the deer tracks and felt its presence.

Dante: "I can sense it. Master, it's moving in that direction." Points to the West of the forest.

Master Rex: "Good job kid, now lead the way and be quiet. We don't want it to hear us and run away."

After walking for a while, they found the deer drinking water from a small pond.

Dante: "Look master, it's the deer, now what?"

Rex told Dante to aim his bow and shoot it.

Dante: "You want me to kill? I... I can't do that, master."

Master Rex: "Yes, you can. That's why you are here. Remember when you told me you wanted revenge, well, if you can't kill your prey then go home kid, you don't belong to this world."

Inside Dante Head: "He's right. I need to learn to kill if I want to have my revenge. I can't let my fears control me."

Dante: "I.. Fine, I'll do it"

Dante aimed his bow at the deer, but his hands were still shaking "Breath-dante, you can do it. That's why I'm here, to train, and get stronger." He shot the bow, and the arrow went straight to the deer's chest.

Dante: "MASTER!! Look, I Did it."

Rex: "Yes, not bad kid, but you got a lot to learn, don't get too happy. Now close your eyes and turn around I have a gift for you."

Dante: "A gift, for what."

Rex: "Just close your eyes, and turn around."

Dante: "O... Ok master."

Dante turned around and everything went silent.

Dante: "MASTER? What are you doing?" He turned around to see what's going on. Both Master Rex and the deer body were gone.

Dante: "HUH? How did he disappear this fast?"

Dante started calling for Rex: " MASTER WHERE ARE YOU? MASTER REX! CAN YOU HEAR ME! Huh? is that a note on the ground?"

He opened the note and inside a massage were written. "Dante this is your first test, use your ki, to find your way back to my house. I want you to sense my location"

Dante: "HUH? Are you fucking kidding me? how am I suppose to do that? and how is he this QUICK!!"
