5 Mass Killing and Jackpot!

A soft voice sounded. "Wake up, Tyrel. I have many presents for you."

Tyrel's eyelids opened as he turned his head to the left and the right. His bottom jaw dropped as he saw many creatures floating motionlessly in the air. They looked like mutated deer and boars.

There were three types specifically. The first were crimson deer with yellow eyes and sharp teeth. The second was a deer with four antlers instead of two. They even had antlers across their backs.

The last nightmare creature type looked fearsome. They were boars with tusks growing all around the back of their heads, covering their necks. Bony armor covered their heads.

He couldn't count the amount that floated around. A wide grin grew on his face.

"S-Saphira... There are so many. How did you find and catch them all?"

Saphira chuckled. "Well. You see, I floated across the land and captured multiple herds of dormant creatures."

Tyrel smiled before saying. "I have a way, so it's not as confusing. If we call them nightmare creatures, we won't get corrupted creatures and the corrupted rank mixed up."

Saphira chuckled. "Sure, we'll go with that. All of these nightmare creatures are dormant beasts, monsters, and demons. Would you like to kill them quickly so we can find more to slaughter?"

Tyrel paused and nodded. "Yes, I do. We shouldn't waste the opportunity here."

Saphira smiled. "Let's get you many weapons, items, and dead creature copies. Perhaps you can have an army by the end of this."

Saphira lowered all the nightmare creatures and smirked. "Go ahead and kill each one. Your Amorphous Knight can do the same."

Tyrel nodded before he and the Amorphous Knight slaughtered them all. At the end of the massacre, he fell to the ground. The blood of his enemies stained the meadow.

He summoned the runes of the memories he got, and his eyes widened. He acquired three types of memories. He got two dozen tier-one dormant memories, a dozen tier-two dormant memories, and five tier-three dormant memories.

"What? How? Do I have a secret attribute of luck?"

Saphira smiled. "How many things did you get, pup?"

Tyrel smiled. "I received forty-one. This is amazing."

Saphira chuckled. "Good. Are you ready to go kill more creatures?"

Tyrel spoke. "In just a bit."

He summoned the runes of a memory from the dormant beasts.

Memory: [Leather Backpack].

Memory Rank: Dormant

Memory Type: Tool.

Memory Description: [A storage area for any item or trinket you find on your journey.]

'Heh, I never thought I would get too many memories to utilize. I can only use one backpack. The rest will only gather dust. It also has no enchantments. That's surprising, to be honest. Wait, my awakened one also has no enchantments.'

Tyrel unsummoned those runes and summoned one of the tier two dormant memories runes.

Memory: [Brittle Antler Knife].

Memory Rank: Dormant

Memory Type: Weapon.

Memory Description: [A knife made out of a piece of a large antler.]

Tyrel shook his head and summoned the runes for one of the tier three dormant memories.

Memory: [Tusk Mantle.]

Memory Rank: Dormant

Memory Type: Armor

Memory Description: [A heavy armor made from tusks of scourged boars.]

'I can only use the backpack memory. And as much as I want to sell all the extra memories when I head to the earth, I would get too much attention. Perhaps I'll find a use for them.'

Tyrel looked at Saphira as she held him. "I'm ready to continue, Saphira. Also, would it be okay to sleep while the Amorphous Knight kills the creatures? I'm exhausted..."

Saphira nodded. "Of course. This meadow is infested with nightmare creatures. It's peaceful on the surface. However, that look is an illusion."

Tyrel nodded and looked at the Amorphous Knight. "Wait until Saphira catches many creatures, and when she tells you to, kill them."

Saphira smiled. "Do you want us to try to kill awakened creatures, too, pup?"

Tyrel smiled. "If it doesn't put either of you in danger, then sure."

Saphira nodded. "Alright. Go to sleep. Wake up when you like."

Tyrel fell asleep.

***

The sound of rain hitting the ground sounded. Tyrel's eyes opened as he yawned and looked into Saphira's eyes. "Good morning, Saphira."

Saphira chuckled. "Heh, good morning. The Amorphous Knight and I hunted from noon yesterday to a few hours after sunrise. I believe we tainted the meadow crimson with our slaughter."

Tyrel's eyes widened as his bottom jaw dropped. "How many did you kill?"

Saphira smirked. "The battle was constant. The corpses of the perished lured more to us. I'm floating above a large hill of corpses."

Tyrel looked around at the landscape as his heartbeat doubled. Below them, a four-story tall hill of corpses lay. The Amorphous Knight stood atop the carcasses. The hill's diameter was around a football field's size.

"How did you kill this many?"

Saphira sighed. "Your Amorphous Knight killed them. I only restrained them."

Tyrel paused before his body shivered violently, and he thought. 'Oh no... I probably have hundreds of dormant memories for free and without effort. The spell is probably going to send something horrifying at us...'

Saphira frowned. "What's wrong, Tyrel? Why are you shivering? Did you have a nightmare?"

Tyrel shook his head. "I have a feeling something terrible is coming."

Saphira sighed again. "Tyrel. How many items and weapons did you get?"

Tyrel replied. "I have to check."

Tyrel summoned the runes and gasped. He spent a few minutes counting them and said. "There's so many..."

Saphira chuckled. "How many in total?"

Tyrel took a deep breath. "I gained one hundred, twenty-seven. However, almost all I gained are useless to me."

"Well, at least if your spear breaks, you can use them."

Tyrel smiled. "Yeah. I guess I can. Do you know what's strange? I only received one from an awakened nightmare creature."

"Would you like to show me at a later date?"

Tyrel closed his eyelids for a moment before opening them. "Sure."

Tyrel summoned the tier three memory's runes.

Memory: [Tendon Ballista].

Memory Rank: Awakened.

Memory Type: Weapon.

Memory Description: [This giant weapon is made from the tendons of a Flesh Assimilator.]

Memory Enchantments: [Flesh Metamorphosis].

Enchantment Description: [Feed the Tendon Ballista a corpse, and it will ossify a part of it into a bone bolt. Most of the meat will be fed to this memory instead of requiring essence for this enchantment. The bolts created can only be used with the Tendon Ballista.]

'I want to try this out and see it. It seems very powerful. Perhaps I can make a trap and shoot at my enemies with this.'

Tyrel lifted his head off Saphira's chest and looked into her eyes. "Saphira. Can you bring us to an area next to the corpses? I've decided to show the awakened weapon now."

Saphira nodded and descended while floating toward the corpse hill edge. The Amorphous Knight floated up into the air and followed closely.

A minute passed, and she landed on blood-stained ground. She put Tyrel down and smiled.

Tyrel looked back and toward the hill of corpses. It towered over the group. He turned to the right, and a large crimson ballista formed out of sparks of light before him.

His eyes widened as he looked at the wheels of it. On the sides of each wheel, a large gaping maw opened and closed constantly.

Saphira knelt behind Tyrel and hugged the back of his head into her chest. "So this is the weapon? It's disgusting looking."

Tyrel nodded. "The look of the weapon doesn't matter, only its usefulness. Now, the ability this weapon has is to turn flesh into bone bolts."

Saphira paused before smirking. She caused the corpse of a boar nightmare creature to float and pushed it into one of the maws.

The maw grabbed the creature and opened it wide before consuming it all in one sitting.

Abruptly, a bone bolt formed out of sparks of light and lay on the ground beside it.

Tyrel's face froze for a few seconds. Abruptly, he walked closer and touched the bone bolt. It dispersed into many sparks.

[You have received a Memory.]

'What!? This memory creates other memories?!'

Tyrel summoned the runes for the memory.

Memory: [Ossified Bolt].

Memory Rank: Dormant.

Memory Type: Weapon.

Memory Description: [A bolt created by the Tendon Ballista. It can harm a living thing a rank above its own but will be destroyed with one use.]

Tyrel frowned. 'Well, I guess it makes sense. It's one use only. At least it can injure awakened creatures. I might as well turn most of these corpses into memories. I'd get a few thousand from that. I won't need much ammo for a long time after that.'

Saphira asked. "Are you doing okay, pup?"

Tyrel turned toward her and responded. "I am. Can we turn most of the corpses into weapons?"

Saphira chuckled. "Of course. We can spend a long time doing so.

For the rest of the day, the group fed corpses to the Tendon Ballista. And Tyrel acquired a thousand nine hundred dormant one-use memories.

(Would it be better for Tyrel to get memories from kills at a lower rate or the same rate?)

(Lower)

(The Same)
