1 Second thoughts.

He touched Darcy's shoulder "We must get there faster"

"I'm at my speed limit, genius" She shrugged and concentrated on the road.

He glanced at the speedometer and brought out his phone and pressed the fingerprints, they lit up as soon as he did.

The car powered up and dashed past the intersection before the lights turned green.

She screamed trying to swerve out of harm's way getting back on track, she lost control

Tapping the fuel tank after they stopped.

"Great, just natural" She slammed the door shut while the engine cooled off, setting a hand over her eyes at the sun.

They walked to the beach after the end of the broken road.

Darcy's eyes dwindled "I know this place"

Nova put out the cube where they stood and there was a mild earthquake.

She tumbled and held his arm when the ship emerged from the water cooling them with a light spray.

It blocked the sun and floated, she gazed at the horizontal silver and bronze ship with three corners,

a reflector at the centre. It buzzed as it opened and the metal track extended to the shore above water pushing over the sand.

Pooch howled as they splashed on the water walking upwards to get to the ship's interiors.

It was well lit with white lights and metallic walls. There were two hollows on the walls with cushions that looked like anemones.

The ship had its eccentricities with tubes that contained strange glowing bubbles that divided and merged like lava lamps, she swallowed to wet her dry throat.

It was either made to be a mobile home or a death machine. The atmosphere both mixed making her more nervous. It was like a fever dream.

Nova touched a dome on a bar at the centre of the flight deck and it lit up opening a holographic page with a strange system of narrow horizontal and vertical bars overlaid.

She stepped up "What's that?"

"These are the pitch and roll inputs required to maintain the desired flight path." He explained

"Hmm?"

"The attitude indicator" He walked her through the controls.

She gazed at the bars and then a sinister black face with three horns, two on the sides, one at the centre similar to shield with eyes and a line that crossed the middle and two curved daggers crossed under. It gave her the creeps.

"I don't like this,"

"I am commandeering this ship," He said.

He turned to her dubious that she didn't know the costs of staying "If we don't take off, we will be in peril."

"Then go...go, get outta there." She urged.

He sighed "You do not comprehend what I'm implying, do you?"

Darcy's face simmered touching her head "No, I haven't the slightest idea_"

He was asking her to leave, it was hard to go but It was even harder to stay.

"I can't leave my planet"

"I understand, you pointed out that a moment ago" He appeared discontented, that she was refusing.

"Do you really have to go?" She asked when their hands lowered.

He hardened "I do"

She worried at his sudden impassiveness.

Looking ahead at the ocean crashing over itself. Nova hadn't seen anything more pleasant in its natural form. He swallowed after catching the unnatural downward tides spreading at every second.

There was a ship nearby.

She heard the humming sounds.

"Take care of Pooch"

"What?"

Nova_"

The floor opened and she dunked into the water with Pooch, his eyes rolled back and his head rose above water, paddling with his long limbs and barking.

Nova shifted into one of them, in a black and red suit with the emblem. He closed his eyes when he wore the helmet.

She resurfaced and gasped at the large vessel that warped from its invisible state and disappeared.

She saw the Infernals disembark from a tractor beam while Nova emerged in the same uniform on top of the small vessel to meet them.

They weren't pronounced because they wore black helmets with wine outlines holding plasma rifles. their expressions inclined toward aggression and they appeared to be communicating for a long time and they spread out, disappeared into and appeared from the looted ship.

She couldn't tell who was who.

Her anxieties kept her from screaming, holding on to Pooch as they drifted in the ocean.

The ocean stirred as a powerful beam of light came down to beam them and the vessel up, they disappeared immediately the lights faded.

The impact caused the ocean to wash them away. Darcy hit shore and Pooch barked slipping while he galloped to her then recovered, shaking water off himself.

She held him running behind a boulder to hide, he barked incessantly at the invisible ship,

She hissed keeping him down, holding him as tightly as possible "Please" He stopped fidgeting and nipped her crown and face.

She hid until the ocean stopped rippling like that going back to its natural state. Pushing back on the shore.

The waters from shore reduced and she stood up.

"Come on, let's go" She hurried and he throttled after her.

...

She knocked on the door and Emma answered in a sports bra and boxers, her hands were tied in dressings and her hair was straighter with highlights, she stood up straight, taller now and her chin rose as she looked from her to him.

"What happened to you?" She asked but Darcy knew damn well that she didn't care.

"You look worse than the dog"

Her breathing was unsteady "Nova, he's gone_" She held the door before she closed it. "Look, you have to help me!"

She stepped in "Please"

Emma stared at her from head to toe.

Darcy glanced at the belts, pictures and medals on the walls. She closed the door.

Pooch whimpered when he hit a shelf and it wobbled, she caught a vase and flashed an furious look at him.

"Sit" She pointed down.

He dropped with his head bowed.

She rolled up a dress and tossed it to her. "Here"

Darcy took it, her clothes were still soggy after the drive.

They weren't the nicest of friends, she still valued their friendship even though Emma grew distant.

She paced about touching both sides of her head, her hands were shaking, she couldn't think straight, it was the rush of getting dunked and from seeing a gigantic ship take him.

"What is it? go on" She smiled waving her hand sitting with her legs crossed and a bottle of water waiting on the table.

Darcy stayed reasonable and kept from saying anything she would regret.

"How's Robbie?"

"Nothing you should know" She unscrewed the bottle and downed it.

Darcy softened "Did he...?"

"He's in the Bahamas. Just say what you have to and get out"

She exhaled and spoke,

Emma pressed her hand against her cheek while she explained.

"An Andromorph, hmm, I thought he was just an oddball from Greece" She sneered.

"You want me to call the league, don't you?" She smirked feeling superior.

"Please, this is serious, he needs help"

"I don't believe anyone who lets himself up with abductors wants any help. He's gone, that's final"
