1 Kesarch Family

A body fell to the floor, everyone looked around in disbelief about the fact that most prominent heir to the family was lying in his blood on the stage. A boy with brown hair was standing above the corpse, his eyes were fully black with crimson pupils which looked like they were on fire. He slung his spear on his shoulder as he walked into a historical building with over a hundred people following behind him.

Inside the building, there were already people waiting, they were lined up on the sides all on their knees bowing awaiting the arrival of one of the fighters, at the end of the room there was a throne with a man wearing clerical clothing and he started to speak out to the people.

"Following the 99th patriarch of the Kesarch family will, the battles for the position of the 100th patriarch have now ended with Kimaris Kesarch aged 17 having won the throne of the family."

As Kimaris finally walked up the throne, he gave his spear to the man who was just speaking, he walked up the throne and leisurely sat down on it. Another person bearing a pitch-black armour walked down the room, he was holding a vial of deep red liquid and replaced it with the other man for the spear.

"In order to be officially recognised as the 100th patriarch, you will need to drink this blood of Empyreans. Once that is done the Kesarch family will be yours, and they won't be able to deny any actions from you."

Kimaris received the vial and drank the blood down to the last drop, his eyes returned back to his normal colour, having lost its pitch-black eyes and his pupils returning to green. His veins started to bulge as the blood spread throughout his body. At this point, everyone subconsciously bowed down even further as if they couldn't resist it, Kimaris stood up and walked out of the room and headed straight towards a secret cave known only to some, this was where all records were stored along with the most valuable items in possession of the family. He came here looking for one thing, an old book which his father once mentioned to him, it was written by his great grandfather but nobody was able to look at it because of family secrets, however, now with the family in his hands, he could finally find out what it was about.

There was an old man sitting right next to the entrance, he was one of the elders of the family and was awaiting his arrival. As soon as he saw Kimaris he stood up and bowed his head lightly. He then opened the secret door in the wall which gave access to the treasury, "Where will I find the book written by the 93rd patriarch?"

"Please, follow me, patriarch." The elder then led him inside and showed him to a bookcase, there were only four books, one was a complete history of the family, one listed all of the family members and their date of birth along with the day they died, one with the original copy of the Kesarch families secret technique and finally an unnamed book written by the 93rd patriarch.

He took the 93rd patriarchs book along with the skill book and sat down on a chair inside the treasury where he could read the books. He opened up the patriarch's book and started to read it.

'I have failed, I have failed myself, I have failed the family.' the first page only read this, as he flipped the page and started to read further it had more words.

'On the dawn of the 2400th year, I have managed to finally summon the ancient Empyreans which once roamed our world and made our family into what it is. I managed to acquire for myself their own power for at the time what I thought would just be borrowed, however, I did not know that they would do what they did next. They wanted me to defeat the other 10 great families of the Morning Star Republic, leaving our family as the only remaining one. I couldn't resist them just how our family can't resist the patriarch's will. I nearly failed, I nearly failll, I nearly ffa, I nearly succeeded. They managed to stop me but I escaped with the last breath of my life. As a punishment, they opened a gate from a different realm in front of me, they said that I caused this, they said that it's because of me."

The 2400th year was the year that the first ever gate appeared in the world, from this gate emerged monsters that will keep flooding out until you enter the gate and clear what's inside. On the next page, there was a map with a location, this was 2000km away from the current location. Underneath all it said was "I have hidden the remnants of power in the gate they summoned, please, come save me."

Kimaris then walked out of the cave and went back to the throne room of the family, he walked up to the fireplace and chucked the book inside. Some of the elders knew exactly what that book was, however, they all knew that they couldn't do anything about it. Kimaris sat down on the throne.

"As of today, I am disbanding the Kesarch family, an ancient family which was greater than the current 10 great families combined. Anyone may leave these grounds if they wish, however, you are only allowed to repent if you leave, you must deal with gates and monsters that appear and protect the people of this country. You are also to never use the Kesarch family name. I will be heading off to deal with the current biggest gate, this is a task I must do myself."

Kimaris got his spear and a bag with few supplies and for the first time, he left the family grounds and headed towards the location which he saw in the book.
