1 Chapter 1: Ominous baby?

[A/N: A Harem in this world would be too weird unless I'm a godly author who knows how to do it but I'm not, so no...]

Earth...

After a certain event, the overall population of the world began to manifest special abilities which quickly came to be known as Quirk!

The dawn of this extraordinary era was marred by a breakdown of society caused by the sudden onslaught of criminals empowered by their newfound "superpowers", and so supervillains were born.

However, as the saying goes, 'from darkness comes light', and so as a counterpart, the job of heroes was born.

Earth, America...

Far away from cities and civilization, a modest couple of farmers was working hand in hand with each other for the good of their farm.

After an altercation with his family, Adam, a former superhero, forsook his family's name and tried to forget it as he took his wife, Kaede, and flew to the end of the country to live in happiness with her.

With the little money he still had, he completely changed their identities and he started up a farm with her.

They worked extremely hard from morning to night every day for five years for their farm. They were truly happy with their life but deep down in their heart something was missing in their house… indeed the modest couple deeply yearns for a child.

And one day, God or Fate itself seemingly replied to their prayers.

In the middle of the day, when the sun was at its highest, shining its hottest ray.

Swish! Swish! Swish! Swish!

In one of their fields, a dark and strange circle of black smoke suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

"What-?! What's that?! Who's doing that?" The husband called Adam ran to the fields in a hurry.

As he stopped he took out of nowhere a long and smoky black scythe that he would use nowadays to literally reap what he sows. 

"Wha- what? What's happening, what's that?"

His wife arrived afterward and touched a scarecrow in the field as it started to move around like a doll.

"Kaede, stay back and support me!" Having faced multiple risky situations, Adam was already an experimented hero although many years flew by.

The black in front of them kept spinning and spinning till something finally happened.

Adam and Kaede felt a cold and icy feeling sweeping past them and running up their spines before a crushing pressure exerted out on them.

A deathly silence overtook the fields, as from the black spinning gate, something or more like someone finally came out.

At first glance, it was a humanoid black-armored knight, at second glance it would be death, indeed if death were to have an actual appearance, this would surely be this person. His armor was dark and threatening, however…

Among the deathly silence, a deeply annoying but innocent sound rang out.

"Wah!" 

'What?' That was the thought in the couple's minds.

Indeed, the annoying cry came out of a baby!

While they were still in shock, the black-armored guy slowly made his way to them.

"...This baby…will you take care of it?"

His masculine voice and his question were cold and simple, seemingly not holding any emotions or feeling in it as he asked the two. 

But, to them the question was truly weird, it seems as if the guy was trying to probe into their very souls the authenticity of their future words. 

In front of him, there was no use to lie, it would be plain and stupid, and deep down they knew that they couldn't get away if he so decided that they would stay here and die.

"Why-, why do you do this…?" Adam took his courage and asked.

"..." The armored guy stared into his eyes for a moment before looking at the baby in his arms and spoke.

"This baby is born special, his creation in itself is a miracle…" the black-armored guy said with a complicated expression. He should have killed this baby, who should be called an abomination.

"I cannot take care of him, I am but a strand of what I am truly, and my original power is already anchored into my successor, who's already preparing his own successor."

"But this child here is growing with this same power. Letting them both grow in the same place with this same power wouldn't be wise…"

With that, he took a look at the baby.

'Controlling this power will be difficult so I will give you the wizard's creation...and seal up your other power for now…' With that, his finger came in contact with the baby's forehead as dark and strange smokes gathered above the baby before subsiding.

The black knight took another look at the baby before walking closer to the couple and handing it to them.

"Will you take it?" Although it was supposed to be a question it looks more like an order.

Adam gazed at his wife Kaede who in turn looked back at him nodded almost with a pleading gaze.

The more she looked at the baby, the more her heart would melt. The baby in question was exceptionally cute and healthy.

Seeing her, Adam knew that if he actually refused he would have to sleep on the sofa for a whole month and so… with all his sanity or so…

"... Yes! Please, let us take care of this baby! It happened to be one of our dreams to be parents, Sir…" Adam said very seriously.

"...Very well…" The armored knight then handed over the baby as Kaede took it in her arms with a blissful expression.

"... Can I know his name?" The knight asked.

"Uh…" Adam in hesitation turned to his wife while the latter just smiled and said. "How about we give him your grand-uncle's name?"

"Oh...Yeah why not… Morgan..." Adam was about to say his name but noticed that the knight's body was strangely fading away like a ghost.

"Hey wait, what is your name, sir? In remembrance of you, we should change our family's name by yours." Adam said firmly.

"...?" The fading knight looked at him strangely.

"Well, we already changed our names, and I and her don't get along with our families so…"

The knight took a glance at the baby and then at them. "Then your family's name shall be, Ashborn… and the baby, Morgan Ashborn…"
