Chapter 52: Sealing of Veldora

"I haven't been here for a couple of years now," I said as I flew towards the Sacred Mountain.

Aperatntly Chronoa is visiting and wanted something from me, "Hmmm..." I hummed while thinking. It feels like I forgot something important.

Well, if I forgot it, then it can't be important.

---

"So, Cale, please answer me," Chronoa paused momentarily. I could imagine her eyes closed but smiling behind the mask, "Why have I been hearing about a new Demon Lord with an army of shadows."

"Uhh..." I chuckled nervously, "You see, things happened, and I... How should I say it? I became a Demon Lord."

"Things happen, and you became a Demon Lord?" She repeated my words.

"Uhh... Yeah, I was totally forced by a big scary red-haired demon to become one, and somehow I killed a small army, making me evolve into a True Demon Lord..."

"Wow, that's a lot of strangely convenient series of coincidences for you," She paused, and I could feel the deadpan look behind the mask, "It's like you planned it..."

"Pfff... Of course, I didn't..."

She sighed while rubbing her forehead or trying due to the mask. I saw her eating through the mask, so maybe she could rub her forehead through it, "At least you didn't go and wipe out a whole kingdom this time."

"Why would I do that when it's easier to trick them into attacking me..." I asked. Actually, attacking a whole kingdom would give me more shadows but could cause more problems with Guy.

"So you planned it." She asked, tilting her head.

"Of course not..."

She sighed again, "Why must you get more annoying to deal with every time?"

"So why did you ask me to meet you here?" I asked, ignoring her question.

"I want you not to interfere while I deal with him."

I looked at her, confused, "Deal with who?"

---

Veldora POV:

After an annoying group entered my forest and woke me up, I remembered something.

It's time for our rematch!

It took me a while to locate his magical signature. To think my rival could even hide his magic signature from me! The mighty storm dragon Veldora! The strongest out of the True Dragons!

HAHAHHAHA! I can already feel it. This battle will be legendary!

I flew toward where I felt his magic signature and found myself near a human empire.

"Huh?" Why is there a human woman walking towards me? That isn't my rival. She looks fairly strong, not like my rival, but she could be a good warm-up.

---

Cale Valentine POV:

I watched as the battle between Veldora and Chronoa started using Universal Sense.

I thought Veldora would be sealed in a few years and not today, and I was slightly annoyed I couldn't go out there and fight him together with her.

Well, she told me not to interfere with this fight, so I'm staying back, but after she seals him, I will demand a fight from her. It has been almost nine years since we last spared, and I have gotten much stronger during that time, so I could maybe even defeat her now.

Maybe I should help her...

No, she would be mad if I did. She said something about it being better if the people didn't know anything about a Demon Lord and Hero working together to seal Veldora, and all of my heave hitting attacks are a dead giveaway to me being the Demon Lord Ashborn.

So she didn't want me to go with her even if it would be as Cale the Holy Knight, "Urghhh..." I groaned in annoyance, wanting to fight Veldora again.

The fight lasted about two hours before Chronoa activated Infinity Prison and sealed Veldora.

Veldora disappeared, and I guess she teleported him away to the cave where he would be sealed for the next 300 years.

But what made me curious was why Vedora looked like he was trying to preserve his energy. If I remember correctly, he shouldn't take her seriously, but that looked like he was trying to save his energy for something.

His attacks still did a lot of damage, but considering our previous fight, this is him still holding back a lot, "But why would he do that?" I asked myself.

I'm actually starting to feel bad for him. He kinda reminds me of myself a bit.

The youngest siblings sometimes get killed by his siblings, making him believe they view him as their plaything, tormenting him and causing deep emotional trauma. But the most important thing is our shared like for novels and mangas.

That reminds me. I should ask/force Rimuru to give me different novels after he reincarnates in this world. He is a friendly slime, so he wouldn't mind giving me them for free.

While I can create my own from my memories, there aren't many I still remember.

And well, if he doesn't, then I would need to use some blackmail on him. I'm sure if I go through my memories of the novel and have my shadows spy on him, I could pick up some dirt to use.

But that will wait for another 300 years.

"Thank you for your help, Cale," She said, walking towards me after everything was done.

"But I didn't do anything," I deadpanned.

"And that's why I'm thanking you. If you interfered, Veldora would probably take the fight more seriously, causing more damage."

My eyes twitched, "You are saying it like I'm some sort of trouble magnet."

"Because you are..." She retorted.

"Tsk." I clicked my tongue, "Anyways, if that was all you wanted from me, then I'll be leaving,"

"Ohhh will the big bad demon lord cry," She chuckled behind my back.

"Says the one hiding behind a mask!" I grumbled.

"Aren't you also hiding behind a mask, little Demon Lord?" She asked teasingly, so I ignored her and teleported back to my castle.

---

A couple of weeks passed since Veldora's sealing, and there wasn't anything interesting for me, so I ignored that matter and continued to work on a new project.

While I have a couple of resist skills, all of them are normal resistances and not nullification.

So what if I made a machine that would constantly attack me until my resistance evolved into nullification?

If I could acquire other skills this way, I should be able to upgrade my resistance the same way. Or at least I hope so.
