Two months later

If you open your TV and watching the news,you can see that more and more thugs and gangs were taken down by The Shadow and his partner Alpha.

Of course , these two are heroes,but for some people they're criminals.

Why would they wear costume and masks?

The answer was simple:They don't want to be recognized and be hunted down by some people.

A hero's life isn't particularly easy , but this thing will never have a bad impact on Alex.

After two months of training and researching Max's power,Alex discovered that his friend can use his transformation to become a werewolf and by changing into one he will gain the wolf traits, but there was something strange about the venom in Max's fangs. When they found the venom, both of them were shocked.

Extracting the venom from the fangs, Alex studied it for more than a month before he found something about it

Apparently this venom works like a serum , which means that it can change the a person from a human to a werewolf.

While he studied Max's power, Alex didn't forget his own power. Some test later he found that his shadows can collect energy from the dead and used to strengthen his body or the usual shadow expansion.

Gotham High school

Today was the last day of the second semester and the start of holiday.

While they were preparing to go home, Alex heard Neil.

'We need to go. The Mafia will kill us if we are late.'

'Sure ,sure. Go ahead.'

Hearing that Neil is implicated with the mafia,Alex and Max decided to tail them.

One hour later , they were hiding in a building somewhere in a abandoned zone .

In front of them were Neil and his henchmen .They were waiting for the mafia to appear.

Five minutes later, three cars appear in sight.

When the cars stopped, Twenty man in suits get down from the cars.

'Neil, so you know why I ask you to come here today?'

'No sir. Why?'

'You attracted to much attention and now the GCPD is on our tail.'

'But...'

'No but. Kill him.'

Hearing the command , one of Neil's friend stabbed him in the back.

Looking st his own friend betraying him, Neil felt like an abandoned child. After some more stabs, Neil finally hit the ground.

'You didn't expect to be betrayed no, Neil?'

Inside the abandoned house, Alex and Max were watching the scene in disgust. It's true that this is Gotham and crimes were common , but this is too much.

Sadly they were late . By the time they were close to Neil all of the gangsters and thugs were already far away.

Looking at Neil, Alex sighed.

"We can't save him anymore."

"Not really. Do you remember what I can do?"

"You don't think about ..."

"Of course . I will try at least."

"Why do you want to save him that badly?"

"Do you remember that time when he fought with you on the roof?"

"Yeah, but what does that have to do with saving him?"

"Do you remember that in the roof was a girl and a beaten boy?"

"Barely , but yeah there was a girl and a boy."

" That girl is Neil's little sister , she's sick. She can't stay without her treatment and that boy tried to trick her and Neil saved her."

" So basically Neil isn't that bad?"

"Yeah he's not a thug , but he's forced to do it.

The medicine is to expensive for him to buy every month. So he had to become a thug to gain money but he didn't harm any innocent civilian."

" How do you know so much about him?"

" When I moved to Gotham , I search information about every classmate and teacher . I was trained this way. Now if you excuse me."

Approaching Neil , Max open his mouth.

"Do you want to live?"

Hearing the voice, Neil's body twitched sightly and then he responded.

'Of ... course. What do... I ... need ... to... do?'

"You will see."

Without waiting for a response , Max bite Neil.

Feeling the bite, Neil's pain reaches another level. He screamed and jerked on the ground for more than ten minutes before he stops.

Looking st the scene , Alex was shocked and horrified , because this was something new for him.

After five minutes , Neil woke up.

' I'm alive? How?'

"You are alive because I saved you."

' Thank you , but who are you guys?'

"You will see , follow me."

Seeing that he can't get any information , Neil decided to follow the duo.

While he was running , he noticed that his body is stronger and faster than before.

He wasn't a bad guy, but for money he had to change. Now that he's dead, Neil can start anew.While he followed them , Alex observed Neil facial expressions. From sad to happy, from angry to calm , he watched how easy a person can change his mood.

When they arrived at their base , which was an underground deposit, Max signaled Neil to come forward.

"Neil , maybe you found that you are different now. You are a mutant now. Just like us."

' You mean that I have to stay hidden or something like that?'

"No, but you need to train your power or you will kill innocent people."

'I understand. Can I ask some questions ?'

"Go ahead."

'Why I'm scared of you? and I have that feeling that you are my boss.'

Before Max could respond , Alex spoke.

A: " Because you were bitten by an Alpha werewolf. You are his beta now."

N:"I'm a werewolf?"

M:"Yep , you are a werewolf."

After they explained the power of a werewolf , Neil become excited and scared at the same time.

N:" It's possible for me to know your true identity?"

A:" Only if you swear to never dislocate the location of our base and to never give our identity to someone. If you can maintain this promise , we will tell you our identity."

Placing his hand on the heart , Neil declared.

N:" I swear on my life that I Neil Bush , will never betray your trust."

Hearing his words the duo was satisfied and immediately after they took they masks.

Neil was shocked and he didn't have any words.

A:" What? Cat eat your tongue?"

M:"He's done. RIP Neil. Haha"

N:"You and You are ... WHAT THE HELL. I must be dreaming right now."

A:" No. You are awake my dear ex enemy."

N:" You're that hero The Shadow?"

A:" Yeah , I'm the Shadow and Max is Alpha. I want to ask you a question. Do you want to join our team and restore Gotham ?"

Neil was shocked ,but he answered quickly.

N:" Of course. I want to help. "

A:" Good . Now You and Max will be know as the Pack . Currently we're in the first phase of the Defenders League. We will need more people . People like us."
