9 Magic

[Beep! Detecting highly dangerous fire energy 420 meters away. Warning!]

Not willing to ignore this scene, George stood up in spite of the girls' objection to move.

The three white-robed individuals were not magi, but their firepower truly was impressive. Their magic was terrifyingly strong, making George think of them as Level 3 Acolytes. It also made more sense, since Magi wouldn't step down to complete missions like escorting apprentices to the magical academies.

[Fireball Spell Detected]

[Estimated amount of damage: 16 Degrees]

It was quite the impressive firepower. The fireball exploded near the Alpha Dire Wolf's feet, causing several dire wolves to be burnt to death, and a dozen more to be slightly injured.

The Alpha Dire Wolf, however, was not a normal dire wolf, but a magical beast. It quickly howled, causing everyone on the battlefield to cover their ears. The white-robed acolyte, who was targeted in priority, collapsed on the ground. His ears covered in blood, his eyes white.

Just like that, a level 3 acolyte had lost his life.

The two other acolytes cursed, and one of them cast a spell causing a [Wind Blade] to appear. It cut through a few dire wolves, before reaching the Alpha Wolf, located a hundred meters away from him. It injured the Alpha Wolf, but it wasn't strong enough to kill it.

The Alpha Wolf was scared though, as it was the first time it had been injured. It howled, and the dire wolves retreated.

George had witnessed an incredible battle between a high-grade magical creature and Level 3 Acolytes.

The white-robed acolyte who had cast the [Wind Blade] sighed, and rang the bells.

*DONG*

*DONG*

The battle had ended.

'So this is the power of acolytes...How strong are the Magi, to be able to teach acolytes and be far superior to them?', George wondered.

Even in the book, the only Magi he had heard about by the end of Chapter 60 were Kroft, an alchemy master and Dorotte, a talking skeleton. However, he never read about them fighting, so he could only imagine their realm of strength.

The firepower of the fireball and wind blades were engraved in George's mind.

'No wonder the original main character abandonned his knight training to focus on magic...however, I don't plan on following Leylin's footsteps. I will become the strongest knight acolyte that this world has evern known!', George swore.

Groaning in pain, he retreated to his carriage, only to sigh upon seeing the grieving faces of his companions. Four members of the [Furze Alliance] had fallen. Evangeline Crown, was wailing. Her bodyguard had been eaten to the point he was no longer recognizable.

George approached her, and hugged her. He patted her head and whispered into her ears: "If you need to talk, I am here for you"

It was not love, but rather caring for a little sister. Evangeline Crown was a tough woman in the outside, but she still was a fifteen years old girl in the inside. George was aware of it, and going through a traumatic encounter with dire wolves would forever change her.

George believed he could make a strong ally out of her. Anyway, building connections with the princess of a kingdom, no matter how small and ruined it was, was a good thing to do, especially if he wanted to strengthen his household.
