2 Hack [Chapter 2]

The next morning Ryan woke up with a headache and he could hear a faint sound but even after twenty minutes he didn't know where it was coming from, looking at the worn alarm clock it is 7am. He needs to be across town in an hour and a half so he was quick to get ready ignoring his headache.

Putting on the new plain white T-shirt and Black pants and shoes he headed out the door, with an hour left he could use a little money to get something to go for breakfast. After stopping to grab a breakfast sandwich he took the nearest taxi until the train station, he has been planning to get this job for weeks so he already knew which one to take.

After making it there was still ten minutes to spare but he clocked in early getting an approving nod from his new Head chef, in the kitchen he would be the one giving Ryan orders. When they finally opened Ryan was set to his duties of prep which is all he was allowed to do at the moment, but it was still exciting to him.

Everyone could see him getting paler then he already was as he was working, the headache hasn't gone away he has just been pushing through it at the moment. Even the Head Chef and Owner saw this and when they asked if he need a break he brushed them off and kept going.

This was his first day and even with the headache he was going to prove that he deserved that shot he was given, although worried they smiled at his stubbornness and willing to work. Some of his co-workers who had been in the field longer also smile liking the young mans grit to keep working, they hated people who left for the smallest things.

At the end of the day which was 10pm for Ryan since they let him off of cleaning the kitchen, apparently the Head Chef was anal about it and wanted to do it himself OCD tendencies. Ryan caught a cab all the way home deciding he can use a little money so he wouldn't pass out on the train and be robbed, as he got closer to home the headache started to calm down.

His body was burning by the time he made it inside his house, he quickly threw off the clothes he was wearing grabbed and ice pack and lied down on the couch to cool off. Grunting at the abrupt coldness he soon clamed down and could feel that it helped a little, he just wished he knew why this was happening to him.

[Ding, detecting a huge disparity between world's information and system's data, the system cannot provide a map for practicing, the system will import the real world map and update the data.]

[Magic Beast Abyss, Barbarian Ox Cave, Devil Spirit's Well, Nine Dragon Slope, Deep Tiger Gorge, Moonlight City, Witch Subduing Pagoda, Restricted Area of Hell, Heavenly Sanctuary, Ancient Road, Beyond The Heavens Sword Mound…...and so on, the hack map is now deleted, the system has begun to enter the information based on the current world data and produce an all-new map... Please be patient.]

After a moment everything went silent and Ryan thought that it was over but still spoke out, "Hello is anyone there?"

[One moment Host System is updating Map to go along with current world.]

Well he isn't crazy since it talked back to him, or is he? Doesn't really matter now there is nothing he can do about this situation but he noticed ever since it started talking his headache and temperature went away. Sitting back he decided to wait to see if something happened.

[System had been upgraded, does host wants to use Shadow Hack and level up?]

Ryan was hesitant but said, "Sure might as well, but first let me ask what is going on here?"

After a minute there was a Ding and he got to know what the System was all about, he already knew the existence of Mutants but they were always hidden so he never got to meet one. To be honest he was always fearful of dying because of one too that is why he always watched things closely whenever he left the house he didn't want to end up dead somehow.

After getting the info he wanted he chose the lowest level place since he knew his limitations, but the name of it made him raise a brow.

[You have chosen Low-Level Region Hell's Kitchen Sewer, are you sure about this?]

After confirming he thought he was going to be sucked into a portal or something but instead he watched as his shadow broke away from him. Wide eyed he saw it shirk to about three inches tall and then run out the bottom of his front door down the stairs.

When it was out of eye sight in his mind he could automatically see that it was heading down and out the building, soon it reached a man hole cover before jumping into it. Thankfully they didn't share senses as the shadow soon started to carefully look around the Sewer looking for a victim.

[Supreme Shadow activated, training location is "Hell's Kitchen Sewer", monster bots classification---- Grade One Roach, Grade Two Water Roach, Grade Five Spider, Grade Five Lizard, Grade Eight Mouse, Grade Ten Rat.... Warning- Watch out for grades higher then Two since you are just starting.]

Ryan was amazed seeing this information he knew from the grades that for each kill it would give the same corresponding amount of points for the kill, Grade One= 1 Experience Point and 1 Ability Point. "System do I have a Status screen?" He didn't know a lot but he knew that games had these so he was excited to see if he was the same.

There was no answer just a blue screen that was shown to him.

"What is Soul Power? And what is the Average?" Ryan asked since that was the only thing he really didn't know the rest were kind of know to him already he assumed Resistance was for poisons and things. Endurance was Stamina, Defense self explanatory as was Strength and Intelligence.

[Soul Power is the energy granted to you by the System, this is increased by the Intelligence stat or at a ratio of 10:1 for the exchange between them. Intelligence will make you smarter to until a certain point. As for the Average of a Human from the details learn by the system, they would be 20 across the board and the strongest known is Captain America at 220 across the board.]

Ryan took a moment to digest that all he sat there thinking it over since he did read about Captain America and now knowing that he was ten times as strong as a normal human was something. So people who were in the army or heavily trained must be able to at least enter one hundred, it made his pitiful 3 for Strength sad, Defense he could guess why along with Endurance.

While he was lost in thought he got a prompt from the system about that Shadow that was currently fighting in the Sewer.

Ryan smiled at that seeing that his points really went up in the system he immediately put the one in strength he planned to work that out right at this moment. He was hoping to get strong enough to fear nothing in this world, he didn't want to be a hopeless person anymore who would be afraid to cross anyone.

The weight he felt in his heart was lifted at this moment as he smiled a real smile it wasn't strained like his last, he was now realizing he would never have to bow again with this. He watched as the Shadow came across a water roach but because it was missing the right arm it strength was lower and ended up dying this time.

[Shadow has died. After ten minutes, your shadow will resurrect and continue to advance automatically in the hack system. You still have two more chances of resurrection for today, please cherish them.]

He read this as another shadow formed from him and went back down to the sewer, he chose this time to take it manually, since he had only had two more he hoped to help it. Felling his mind enter in he looked around and near-by he saw the dead body of the roach his first killed, taking a breath he started his hunt.

He knew that he wouldn't die only that he would get a little shock if he died as the Shadow, soon he came across the Water Roach which was walking around. Smiling he rushed it and sent a fly kick that he had seen as a kid in a movie his dad had watched one time.

[Your leg has kicked the water Roach's legs, because of attacking its weak point, the Roach has suffered 25 points of damage, causing serious damage to the water Roach.]

Ryan didn't give it a chance to fight back and when he saw it went down used his full power and punted it's head not wanting to take any chances.

He again put the two into the strength stat making it jump up to 6, he could feel himself become stronger than what he was even if it was only a little stronger. Smiling he rushed into the sewer along the way killing three Grade One Roach's and Two Grade Two Water Roach's giving him seven more of each which were still spent the same way.
