6 Chapter 6: The Truth Is Often Dissapointing

A few hours after Ren and the others had their little drinking party, Ren woke up determined to finally figure out the answers he needs from his parents. He looked around thinking everyone else was sleep and made his way to the door only to find Persephone there with her hands behind her back. She looked at him in confusion since she didn't expect to see him up so early. "The hell are you doing Ren? Didn't expect you to be an early bird." She chuckled to herself a bit but was cut off by Ren sighing and deciding to explain to her what was going on. "Look Persephone I need answers about what's going on and why....why they experimented on me when I was a kid. I've been trying to get to there house for a while but right when I was almost there I passed out and met you guys. I don't expect you to come with me bu." He was cut off by Persephone who was light smirking knowing she had something to do. "Fuck it, I'll go with you besides I would have rather be with you then have to clean up every ok nes throwup when they get up." Ren smiled and began walking towards the house that was fairly close by to the base. As they were nearing the house Persephone turned to Ren. "So what do you think they'll tell you? I mean I assume most people wouldn't just tell you all there secrets." Ren thought about it for a second before sighing and giving Persephone an answer. "I mainly hope they give me more insight as to why I'm the way I am. Besides it's best to try to be optimistic regarding things like this." He chuckled slightly and continued walking towards his parents house.

A few minutes later the two finally made it to listen there destination. Ren and Persephone looked up and the giant mansion that Ren called home and walked into the house.  He and Persephone looked around before seeing Ren's parents in the kitchen washing some dishes. Ren immediately spoke up. "Mom, Dad I want answers, why did you experiment on me?! And...and why did you make a deal with Satan!?" His mother looked at him in confusion before waving her hand in a denying fashion. "Oh Son who told you these lies about us? We never made a deal with Satan." Ren's father poured himself a cup of coffee and sipped it before speaking. "We also never experimented on you I remember playing catch with you when you were very young." Rens anger was slowly increasing as he couldn't stand there lying. "That's bullshit and you know it!!!" Persephone read Ren's dad and moms minds to confirm that they were lying. "Yeah everything there saying is false." Ren now at the peak of his anger activated Sen and tried to use it on his parents before his mom yelled. "Stop!!  We'll tell you the truth....the whole truth. No lies just please son dont hurt us." Ren withdrew sen and his father took another sip of his coffee now looking at Ren disappointed. "As you probably know by now, me and your mother made a deal with Satan so that we would get fame and fortune. In exchange we would have to make him a new shadow caster, one that could surpass his forces and become his right hand man. Now of course we agreed to it but we had our own motivations. See we had to make sure that if Satan was to ever have his elite forces attack us we needed a defense. So we began the experimentation shortly after we made the deal." Ren's father took another sip of his coffee. "Now you may also know that we pulled the plug on our experiments. Now its not because we felt bad it was because you weren't showing the results we wished for. And in my personal opinion you Ren are a failure as a son and as a test subject. Now if those answers are suffice I would like it if you got the hell out of my house you failure." Ren looked down at the floor no idea of what to do or what to think at that moment but he did know one thing he had to leave. 

He began walking out of the house before beckoning Persephone to catch up because he wouldn't wait for her. Persephone looked at him worried because of what just happened. She reached out her hand to put on his shoulder but retracted it since she realized that it wouldn't help. "H-hey Ren are you okay?" Ren turned to her and put on a fake smile though Persephone didn't realize it wasn't genuine and they freaked onwards back to the base. "So Ren why did." Persephone was cut off at the arrival of an enemy shadow caster. Persephone tried to get ready to fight Ren put his hand in front of her insinuating he wanted to fight the enemy shadow caster by himself. He increased his physical capabilities by 5 and dashed at the shadow caster aiming a punch for their gut. The shadow caster naked Mace took the punch with little to no damage. Mace picked up Ren by his head and started squeezing it before punching him in the gut a few times and launching him into a nearby house knocking him out. Mace turned his attention to Persephone who took a deep breath and began reading his mind. 'From what I can tell he's going to throw a quick punch followed by a kick then try to throw me around like a ragdoll. I thought he would try more complex things since he just whooped Rens ass but this is fine with me.' She got into a defensive stance and looked at Mace launch his quick punch which she jumped over directly onto his arm. "Predictable." She jumped over him and aimed a pinch for one of his pressure points which would knock him out. Mace fell over and Persephone jumped off of him. She walked over to Ren who had woken up at this point as she helped him back to base. On the way there Ren asked Persephone something. "So how'd you beat him he kinda seemed above your pay grade." Persephone frowned and explained that she just read his mind.

Ren smirked and remarked that she has awesome powers. Shortly after they made it back to base where Joben and the rest of the squad were waiting for them. "So where have you two been?" Ren rubbed his head and replied. "I was getting answers from my parents and Persephone accompanied me there. After we left, we ran into a shadow caster and he whooped my ass. Persephone dealt with him no problem though." Persephone slightly blushed from what she thought was a compliment before looking at Joben. "So why where you all waiting for me and Ren to get back?" Joben pointed at a monitor in the base. "Aside from wondering where the hell you went we've been noticing paranormal activity in the part of the town you guys were just in. Tons of death and disappearing people, we thought we'd check it out." Persephone and Ren nodded in agreement and now that the whole squad was assembled they began walking to the part of town that Persephone and Ren were just in.

Once they made it to the area they saw fairly tall slim man with a scythe in his hand and human bodies scattered around. The man turned around to see everyone and walked over to them before laughing maniacally. "Wow I thought I killed everyone in this area but I guess I was wrong. Now let's see." He looked at the squad and began mumbling something to himself. "Weak,weak,weak,weak,we-wait that one in the middle." He looked at Ren who was in the middle of the group. "He has the same energy as that man....I should kill him now but if I let him get stronger and crush him then,getting my revenge will be so much sweeter. Alright let's fight!" The man known as Zalvozeth got into a stance ready to fight while laughing. Dai realizing that he needed to go all out increased his physical capabilities by 15 times his absolute limit and dashed at Zalvozeth aiming a punch for his face at full strength creating a large dust cloud. Once the smoke cleared Zalvozeth had grabbed Dais hand and was holding it there with little to no difficulty. "If this is the best you can do then you'll never beat the others. You'll all be slaughtered!!!" He grabbed Dais arm and broke it before sending him flying backwards into Ren. "Now, who's next?" Realizing they had no chance of winning Leo ordered a tactical retreat and everyone got out of there as quickly as possible. Ren increased his physical capabilities by two to hold up Dai as they got back to base.

After they made it back they put Dai on a bed and put a cast around his arm. Leo clapped his hands together once Dai was stable and yelled. "Alright so we were gonna die out there today. Now don't let this lessen our moral. All we need to do to beat that tall, skinny scythe using bastard is to get stronger. The only way to get stronger is to train, and we need to train our asses off if we want to beat that guy. Now who's with me!!?" The entire squad yelled in agreement and got into the mentality to train and get stronger. Unknown to them however Zalvozeth was sitting on top of a building with his scythe searching for them before a short spiky haired man landed next to him. "Zalvozeth you let them get away what is wrong with you?" Zalvozeth laughed before licking some blood he got from his skirmish with Dai. "Oh cool your horses Arkin I'll get them, I just like to let my prey run around before I kill them. Oh yeah there was this kid, looked about 16 he had the same aura as that man from 300 years ago. I might let him live, It'll be more satisfying to torture him and rip his shadow out of his body that way." Arkin just shook his head before getting up. "You shall kill that entire group Zalvozeth and if you don't there will be dire consequences. Do not fail us." With that Arkin jumped up in the air and coated his arms in his shadow creating wings as he flew away. Zalvozeth looked at him fly away and sighed. "Yes sir." He frowned and layed on the building made Arkin was trying to ruin his fun.
