30 Chapter Thirty

"I said too much just now, excuse me. Sorry to trouble you all." Though her voice was apologetic her expression was not, Hua Fan lowers her upper body slightly in apology towards everyone. Not knowing how to react the adults could only sigh softly and send her looks full of comfort and pity. Tilting her head towards Zhou Jian Kong she directs her next words to him without bothering with Zhou FengMing anymore. If I stay here any longer I think I'll be sick. Unlike the venomous tone she took with her father, towards her grandfather Zhou Hua Fan was respectful and mellow. "Ye Ye, Fan wants to use the restroom." Zhou Jian Kong did not say anything but he did send her a glance of acknowledgment meaning he gave her permission to leave. Hua Fan did not look at Zhou Feng Ming nor Huang Gou Heng again. Zhou Feng Ming's startled expression from Jian Kong's shout morphs back into anger seeing her blatant disregard for himself.

He at least was her father! "Hold on you-" A loud sound resembling a slap echoes through the suddenly quiet room behind her along with a wave of gasps. Hua Fan did not look back to see the result of Feng Ming's actions, she did not think she could stomach being in his presence longer than necessary. Her whole demeanor clouded in gloom, Hua Fan did her best to walk away with her dignity intake, unlike Zhou Feng Ming who lost face behind her. She held her breath feeling Huang Gou Heng's heated gaze upon her back, shivering unwittingly.  Zhou Feng Ming.  Her fists grow white by her side, holding onto the fabric of her thin dress Hua Fan's pretty face quirks into an ugly look of animosity she didn't dare show her grandfather.

Quickly taking refuge in the woman's bathroom. After locking the door Hua Fan's back slammed against the door and she covered her face taking deep breaths. Her shoulders trembled, and her fingers shook under pressure. Her nails dig into the sides of her face with a force she did not know she possessed as she grits her teeth to endure the urge to bite something. Zhou Feng Ming you- "How scary, that expression you have on right now. I long for the day your grandfather can see it, see the demoness he took under his wing." Hua Fan momentarily tenses but recovers from its voice quickly enough to look up at it. Her eyes were a beautiful brown, but right now, they would be called anything but beautiful.

Like a pastel muddy pool of water filled with nothing but resentment. It's nothing a person of her age should be capable of expressing. Her pretty lips were pursed till they were practically bloodless even under the light pink lipstick she had on. There was a scary stillness on her face that made the girl appear more like a puppet than a real human. The being sat on a sink across the room and stared at her with its terrifyingly all-knowing dark eyes. The being's black robes resemble a grim reaper, even as his clothing swept along the ground he did not make a single sound that was audible to human ears. The being would strike fear in anyone's heart as he was obviously a supernatural being incomprehensible to the human mind, yet Hua Fan stared right back into his eyes that were coated in revulsion towards her.

"A little human who is surprisingly full of such hatred like you will never cease to amaze me. Being able to hold it all in without boiling over, what a sight." She grits her teeth and growls back at him. "You are the ones who brought me here. You expect my lifetime of acrimony to be so easily erased?" He rests his elbow on his knee while resting his head on top of his palm, never breaking eye contact with the girl. Clicking his tongue at her abhorring her hypocritical behavior, "We did not say that. We are merely stating the fact that at the pace you are keeping your emotions bottled up, one day you will go insane and die alone once more."

"-And when that time comes, we will bring you back until you complete the task given to you." He sneers looking the girl up and down not hiding his dislike of her. "We are aware of your character but he is reluctant to give up." The being sighed almost dramatically while Hua Fan glowered at him, her posture as tense as a loaded spring. " Alas, he believes you are capable, but I believe differently." The being looks straight on blunting telling her its opinion as to if it were fact. "-I insisted for you to be taken to the underworld to be handed to the yama kings to deal with you but he said otherwise. Little false queen, you are not aware but this life is another type of hell for those who do not repent properly." "I did not want to come back!" He ignores her outburst irking the girl more.

"You agreed to our offer though did you not?" She sneers at him, "We have already talked about this. I am not a mary sue who will forgive all those who wronged me. You picked the wrong woman for the job if you want someone with a saint's heart." The being gave a sharp laugh, "I told him the same thing. It seems you and I are in agreement about one thing." Hua Fan expressed her side while looking at the man in front of her coldly. "You said I am free to do as I please as long as he lives well." "With you tearing down the face of the one who protects him will he truly live well below the surface?"

Hua Fan chokes on her words as the being effectively slaps her face with her own words and actions. She did indeed do the opposite of what she told her grandfather to promise her just now. She appeared troubled for only a moment before glaring at him with pursed lips. He snorts, "Even you yourself are aware of what will happen if you don't act properly. You and your grandfather will protect him in the shadows but he will forever face humiliation because of who once held his leash. Say, don't you think you should be responsible for the actions you take?" She bites her tongue and with a red face full of annoyance scowls at the hateful man. He stood up from the sink impatiently while ignoring the girl's hostile look. "Dealing with an idiot like you is exhausting."

"-Listen here mortal, I only came at the insistence of my other half. Otherwise, I would have happily watched your downfall with a glass of wine in my hands and a grin on my face. Think carefully about your next choice, for everything you do and will do there comes a price I am not sure you will be ready to pay. You are free to do as you please but if you take a life....you will have to pay us. So listen to my advice carefully because this is the last time I will tell you again." The pale being narrow's his brows at her, suddenly giving her a solemn glance. Hua Fan's heart skips a beat once more as dread and a hint of fear crawl up her throat. From his expression and actions, she knew he would demand something she was reluctant to do once more.

Her instincts are proven right, as his next words make Hua Fan who usually stood so steady take a step back into the door behind her. "Stop avoiding your problems." Her stomach drops and her body trembles with his suggestion. Hua Fan drops a breathless syllable full of ridicule, her face morphing into fury and slightly incredulous. "Ha?" Stop avoiding him? You are telling me to stop avoiding that man? She doubles over laughing hysterically under his unamused stare, unable to stop the bubble of strange feelings in herself which made her feel odd at his words. "Don't avoid him? You are telling me to acknowledge him? Haha!!"

She didn't know why she was laughing. She only knew that if she didn't laugh she would most likely cough blood out of anger towards the being's words of advice. This feeling of bitterness is so familiar. "Pfft-" The girl with the mad giggles finally caught her breath enough to look back up at the solemn-faced god who continued quietly observing her madness quietly. A bubble of irritation spread in her heart. Hua Fan frivolously smiles up at him, not knowing the mirror in her eyes resembled broken glass in his eyes. "You tell me not to avoid him but do you even understand the emotions of us pitiful human beings? What do I have to acknowledge him for? What good would that do?"

The god only observes the heartbroken woman stuck in a child's body in silence angering Hua Fan even more. She croaks almost sobbing with anger at his indifference. Huang Gou Heng. Huang Gou Heng who is perfect in the eyes of everyone. Huang Gou Heng whose whole existence is a thorn in my side. Huang Gou Heng who shamelessly continued to walk in my line of sight annoying me to death. That Huang Gou Heng? You want  me to acknowledge him?!  Her smile was painful and aggrieved, Hua Fan's eyes grow red under his scrutiny. "Who am I to shamelessly stand by his side?"
