44 Chapter Forty Four

In a hospital funded by the Zhou family, there was a strange commotion happening on the third floor where the elite and powerful resided. Many people peek over at the door where four bodyguards stood at attention, each one looking straight forward while giving anyone who lingered a second longer than necessary harsh glares. This frightened many curious patients and visitors away but there were many who openly stared at the group with bafflement and interest. Just who exactly was powerful enough to get permission to bring their own bodyguards to the top floor and take up the corridor like this? Not just anyone was allowed this kind of treatment, so the sick and injured patients attempt to squeeze information from doctors and nurses.

Their eyes were bright with the thirst for gossip and knowledge of such a powerful indivisual. Yet strangely enough, when they ask the staff those people would purse their lips and nervously look around before showing them unfriendly glares and running away with their tails between their legs. Puzzled by this reaction the patients only grew more curious. Was this person a public figure? A celebrity? The younger patients pull out their phones and laptops to look for any recent celebrities who had gotten in accidents yet found out nothing at all. The only celebrity who was injured seriously enough to be hospitalized recently was a supermodel who slipped from the stage and broke her arm.

And it was impossible it was her because this supermodel was all the way in America!! Unable to find any information no matter how much they meddled the smarter ones realized that the mysterious patient was not someone they should mess with and immediately stopped snooping. If they used their resources and found nothing then that meant that the person they were trying to gossip about was much too powerful for them to provoke or even dream about meeting. The more intelligent individuals warn the one asking questions to not bring trouble onto them and before they cut themselves off from those fools before they lost their lives. After all, this was a hospital.

And every day there was someone who ends up dead, whether naturally or unnaturally with the hospital backing this sleeping dragon there was absolutely no way they would be safe if they angered the wrong person. Whoever this person was, they must have very good relations with the hospital director or they have a powerful background. Either way, the last bit of curiosity was reluctantly pushed down by the fear that swirled in their hearts after realizing how strong their opponent was. Little did they know, the person they feared was currently being scolded by someone who was below her status and considered her underling. And not only that but the person was just a young girl who was eleven years old with large bambi eyes and loveable features that could shame porcelain dolls all over the world.

Snow white skin and long luscious lashes that flutter with each slow blink at the older young man who stood above her fiercely reprimanding her. In most cases like this, the girl should have given the person a previous expression and shed large teardrops like the movies or books. But this girl only stared up at the person yelling at her with delight and slight undetectable warmth with a small curl of her soft pink lips. The young man noticed her expression that was not at all surprised or phased by his anger and he purses his lips before taking off his own coat and wrapping it around her after looking at her unnaturally pale features again. He stiffly knelt down and asks her something while making sure the girl was bundled up so tight in his and her own coat that she resembled a large rabbit during spring.

Seeing his futile attempts the girl's eyes glow with more amusement but she does not stop him and only makes a small comment that causes the man's eyes to grow cold and his hands stop on their own. For a while he did not say anything to her, then with trembling hands, he continued to wrap the girl up silently under her gaze. The girl could sense his inner turmoil and lays a cold hand on top of his larger warm ones and her eyes shine with a sort of acceptance of her situation. She even gave him a breathtaking but soulless smile making his heart feel even more pained as burning at the back of his eyes begins. Holding his breath he ignores her attempts at stopping him and finishes wrapping her up in his coat. While he did this he responds to her words with something that made the girl's eyes show hints of pity.

The girl shook her head and but doesn't laugh at his futile efforts and attempts to help her condition. She supposes it was his own way of coping. Though they did not know each other long in this life or the last she knew better than to laugh and spit on the young man's endeavors. The porcelain doll says something else to the young man who had yet to get up making his eyes burn with fury and he shouts back at her after gritting his teeth angrily. Hua Fan was not stunned by his reaction, she only smiles but this makes him angrier.

"Why are you smiling?!" The pretty girl bursts out into lighthearted laughter which only fueled his anger for his disregard for her own life. "Brother Liang do you know what is one of the only things I wanted this life?" Her eyes seemed to come to life for a second and Zhong Zemin chokes on his anger after hearing her prosperous words and seeing her genuinely happy expression. This smile was different from the ones she had given him each day, it was different from the ones she gave to on a whim that was either self-deprecating or mocking. "I finally have the chance to tell you "Thank you" before I die. So, accept my late gratitude. Thank you."
