3 Chapter 2 - Future 3

Author's note: I haven't read the Harry Potter books, and I watched the movies a long time ago. So, if there are any mistakes, please forgive me. Also, I want to clarify that I don't claim ownership of anything related to J.K. Rowling's work. I'm not sure why everyone mentions this, but I believe it's important, so I'm saying it too.😉

The revelation about Severus Snape's future, as displayed on the small screen, had sent shockwaves through the Great Hall. As Dumbledore questioned Severus about the term "Avenger," the screen continued to provide more information, painting a picture of Severus's life that left everyone astounded.

The addition of new titles, such as "the right-hand man of Voldemort," raised even more questions among the gathered wizards and witches. How could Severus Snape be both Dumbledore's trusted man and Voldemort's right-hand man?

Severus himself grappled with the sudden and unexpected turn of events. Becoming Headmaster of Hogwarts was a daunting prospect, and the revelation of his future as Voldemort's associate was a heavy burden to bear.

Dumbledore, with his characteristic wisdom, spoke up, addressing both Severus and the concerned audience. "My dear students and esteemed colleagues, what we have witnessed today is not merely a glimpse of the future but a reminder of the complexity of choices and destinies. Severus Snape is a man of many facets, and his path is far from straightforward."

Dumbledore's words elicited a mixture of reactions. Some students looked at Severus with wariness. The uncertainty of whether Severus would become a Death Eater or not was a subject of heated debate.

As the small screen continued to reveal more, a sense of anticipation filled the Great Hall. When the screen transitioned to a clip on the large screen Severus and Dumbledore stood facing each other, and the Great Hall fell into an intense silence.

"The prophecy did not refer to a woman," said Dumbledore with a tone of deep concern. "It spoke of a boy born at the end of July-"

Severus interrupted him, desperation in his voice, "You know what I mean! He thinks it means her son, he is going to hunt her down - kill them all --- Hide them all, I beg you."

The weight of Severus's words hung heavily in the air. The entire Great Hall was now privy to a moment of vulnerability from Severus Snape, a man known for his stoicism.

On the big screen, Dumbledore regarded Severus with a grave expression. "What will you give me in exchange, Severus?" he asked, as if searching for some assurance that this desperate request was worth the cost.

Severus, despite his surprise at Dumbledore's question, didn't hesitate. "Anything."

The clip ended, leaving the audience in suspense, their minds racing with questions about the events that had just unfolded. It was clear that Severus Snape had made a profound sacrifice, but the details of what transpired next remained unknown.

The Great Hall buzzed with discussions and speculations. Lily exchanged a concerned glance with her friends from the Gryffindor table, her worry for Severus evident in her eyes. The Marauders, James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter, engaged in deep conversation, attempting to piece together the puzzle of Severus's past and future.

Sudden silence filled the Great Hall as the next clip played on the screen, capturing the intense conversation between Severus and Dumbledore. The atmosphere was thick with anticipation as the audience awaited the continuation of this pivotal moment from Severus's future.

Among the onlookers, Lily Evans, seated at the Gryffindor table, leaned forward, her eyes fixed on the unfolding drama. Her concern for Severus was palpable, and her friends from the Marauders - James, Sirius, Remus, and Peter - were equally engrossed in the scene. James wore a conflicted expression, torn between his history with Severus and the uncertainty of what lay ahead. Sirius, Remus, and Peter exchanged quick glances, silently contemplating the gravity of the situation.

In the next clip, Severus's voice trembled with sadness and anger as he uttered, "You said you will protect them."

Dumbledore's response was grave, "They trusted the wrong person, Severus. Their own friend betrayed them."

"I wish I were dead," Severus confessed, his emotions laid bare.

As these words echoed in the Great Hall, Lily's eyes welled up with tears, and her friends from the Marauders exchanged knowing glances. The weight of Severus's pain and guilt was palpable, even in this glimpse of his future.

"But the boy survived. The boy needs protection," Dumbledore insisted.

"He did not need protection; the Dark Lord was gone," Severus argued vehemently.
