37 Epilogue

Lillith

Despite how poorly they thought of her, she hadn't wanted to kill the child. Chloe had all the things Lilith needed: she was young and malleable, pretty and fierce. Not drab like Clare, who Lilith previously thought would be easy to push over. Not full of herself and egotistical like Athena, who Lilith had always hated.

But what was done was done.

"And what did you do with the body?" Lilith demanded, looking at her second in command. She had underestimated Clare and Athena. Hadn't expected the psychic to sacrifice herself. Definitely hadn't expected Greed to give himself up for Athena. Truly, why did everyone like the girl?

"Rorgur has it."

Good. Rorgur would take the form of Chloe and wait around until Lilith could use her to destroy Clare.

She had loved Clare once, but Clare had chose to serve God and goodness. Why? Goodness offered her nothing but headaches and pain. Lilith promised her a throne.

Enough of that, she thought, taking a final look at Edom. Her home since the dawn of time. She was sick of it. Sick of being trapped with idiot demons and dead animals. She needed people to rule. Not nobodies.

But the fight was not done. The blood had been spilled. The next step was getting out of Edom through the portal.

And she knew just how she'd do it, and just who she'd get to do it.

Lilith cackled.
