As the city slumbered beneath a shroud of darkness, I found myself steering the empty streets, the occasional flicker of a streetlamp casting fleeting shadows across my path. The hum of the engine was my only companion as I pressed on, the cadence of the road merging with the steady beat of my thoughts. Hours slipped by unnoticed, swallowed by the endless expanse of asphalt stretching out before me.

Dawn tiptoed upon the horizon, painting the sky in hues of soft pink and gold. Exhaustion tugged at my eyelids, urging me to seek respite, but duty compelled me forward. With a weary sigh, I turned the car towards my apartment, the familiar landmarks of the neighborhood greeting me like old friends.
