1 Chapter 1: Escape

Why does the world hurt? Why does our world want so much power? All this suffering just for money and control. Our world has been left turned on its side begging for mercy but in war there is no mercy. The world has been plagued by the unsettlement of nuclear war. World War III. We no longer live in this world we only survive day after day. We, who were the lucky few of the world, wander the radiated open plains of London reduced to rubble finding shelter where we can, the year 2045 is not what it should be. This world is diseased.

the planes flew like birds in the blackened day sky. Bricks and blood flying everywhere under the nose of the planes slowly levelling out the city to its bloody remains, it wouldn't be too long until they reached the small lifeless house on the outskirts of London. No TV to numb the nerves, no radio to soothe the baby's cries only the reality show of war, pain, Suffering and fear; the sort you would see in horror movies. But London isn't defenceless soon planes hit the ground like flies swatted against the wall as Britain fought back with anti-air vehicles. A sight for sore eyes but not for the young. "Where's mum?!? the chem bombers are here!" Shouted holly "She's packing the food" replied Conor, the family of 5 scrambled to their American campervan with no knowledge of their destination.

They cruise by the torturous screams of the suffering and the skin scalding silence of the dead, screams of those who lost family and friends; lives flung away like rubbish in a bin. The sight of an intact mall catches Ryan's eye as he alerts the family of its presence as it rises into view. It was a massive easily bigger than that of a football stadium.

"Dad are you sure it's safe?" - Holly

"Yeah it's fine Holly just goes in and grab as much food as possible and run back Conor and your cousin Samuel will go with you" - Ryan

"Your mother and I will get fuel and other supplies in the meantime" - Emily

And with that, as if by military dismissal, the family dispersed the kids for food and parents supplies.

Conor, who thought that because he was the oldest should take charge, lead the team of 3 to the canned food aisle with the biggest trolley they could Find. The store wasn't as busy as expected due to it being a very discrete place, but still bloodshed was never far in war as friends turned enemies over food and supplies the trio carefully tread in the battlefield between common people. The trolley had been filled with cans of all kind.

"Could you help push Samuel , it's really heavy now" - Holly

"Nah you can handle it"- Samuel  all while showing that smug uncaring smile to the siblings.

"Thanks a bunch Samuel.. for nothing" - Holly and Conor

"You're welcome" - Samuel

still watching them with that smug smile. The siblings simply rolled their eyes and continued pushing the giant trolley back to the campervan and back to safety.

As this happened the parents were searching the D.I.Y store for anything useful grabbing the essentials before the wanted. They found a couple of fuel containers in a old down car store which they would fill at the nearest fuel station for the long journey they secured an impressive amount of supplies including wood and metal that Ryan and Conor could work with as well as first aid kits and gas tanks for the motor-homes stoves. They finally had as much as they could push in their cart they'd found and so headed back to the camper van to meet with the kids and they eventually saw a scampering team of four.

"Four? Who is with them?" - Ryan Unsure of what was happening his face turned white with concern

"I can't tell who else is there, but it is them" - Emilly

As the Four approached the vehicle it became clear that the the mysterious person was in fact a young girl and was clearly injured badly as Holly was supporting her every step, without a single question Emily (the mum) and Holly lifted the seemingly dead child into the camper van where she quickly placed her on the bed, her leg had been badly injured and probably infected they got to work bandaging and disinfecting it but the pain had taking its toll and she couldn't bare it. She lost conscience; they didn't get the chance to ask her name. They finished the bandaging and loaded the vehicle the new sized family of six set off to its next location, where was unknown. The little girl no older than six just lay there she must have been left alone for a while as hunger was visible on her bone stretched skin and face her legs where scrawny but not weak and her hair a browny-gold color like coffee; Conor was busy at work with the new supplies, he was a tough looking kid but didn't have that look of a bully more of a sports fanatic about 12 yrs old; Holly was organizing the medical equipment on the shelves, she was a little shorter than Conor but not to be angered as whilst she was always the 'shy' one of the family she was the easily the most violent; Ryan was the older, more stupid version of Conor, like father like son, he would smile as he drove even under the sound of screams; Emily was the one to say "no" at the start of most sentences she was the police of the group;  And then there's Samuel... he.. Ugh... Is now the 2nd youngest of the six and the most annoying, he's the one that would... umm well do nothing but annoy everyone.
