10 In the Hospital

From within the darkness I dream. What I dream of I can't remember. I feel a connection somewhere far away but while I dream the connection that surged like a river became like a trickle of water to me. My eyes open to see a white ceiling above me and the smell of medicine. It comes to me quickly I must be in the hospital.

Looking over I see Naruto sleeping on a chair and I chuckle a little. But then I turn once again to stare at that white ceiling. My mind revolves of what I had done and what I had seen in those visions. 'I really was childish' he berates himself. He thought improving their lives with technology he could help but he didn't take into account where he was. Here people die by the hundreds every day and one day he will have to kill as well.

I try getting up but I feel a pain in my stomach making me wince. "What is that" lifting up my shirt a see a strange tattoo around my belly button. Curious I touch it only finding smooth skin of course. These markings reminded him of the ones on Narutos stomach but he didn't know their purpose.

"Ah you are awake" Grandpa says as he walks into the room "How are you feeling Marx?" I look at him "I feel... I don't know how I feel. I saw so much... I wanted to help and heal people but." He looks down at his hands "One day I will have to kill someone won't I grandpa?" He looks back at the 3rd his eyes listless

The 3rd nods his head "Anyone wanting to be a shinobi has to have the resolve to take someone elses life. Let's say one day a man shows up, a rogue ninja, and he plans to kill naruto. You have it in your means to stop him but that means taking his life. Would you do it?" I think carefully then I nod. "Yes. If someone tries to take what I care about I won't hesitate" The 3rd smiles and ruffles my hair

"Speaking of you always call me Grandpa so I decided to make it official. From now on you are Marix Sarutobi, my beloved grandson." I was completely shocked. The kind of shock where your mouth hangs open and you can't speak for several seconds "B-but what if I lose control again?" The 3rd chuckles "That has been taken care of. Though not as good as an Uzumaki seal we placed one on your stomach that will help you block out foreign invasions to your mind and chakra. Though this isn't a true protection it is all we can do for now. Plus I will be here to protect you" Marix reached out and hugged the old man "Grandpa!" Like a young child I began to sob

The 3rd merely rubs my head as narutto wakes up "Marix you're awake! Ah this is great" He rushes over and wraps his arms around me. "Naruto... I'm sorry I hit you." I began to get downcast again "Oh it's alright Marix. I know you didn't do it on purpose" He smiled at me. "Ahem now Marix now that you are my grandson you are entitled to live in my estate" I smile back at him "It's ok grandpa. I want to stay with Naruto for now. We promised each other to be great ninjas" I bump my fist to Narutos chest "yea yea" Naruto bounces a bit excitedly. He still has trouble controlling his emotions.

"Well that is up to you. Do you still want to be a medical nin?" I nod my head. Despite everything I still feel like putting forth my efforts into Medicine and Tech would be my best use "Oh but can I also be taught how to use seals?" I began to think what kind of achievements I could make if I combined seals with my tech "Sure. I will get someone to teach you. I gotta go now but we will talk later ok? Oh one last thing you two don't mention what happened that night to anyone." He ruffles my hair again then leaves just as I got two more visitors

"Oui Marix you're awake" Oh it was Shikamaru and Choji "I brought you some snacks" Choji said as he put down a big basket with fruits, candies, and oddly enough potato chips. Choji took the potato chips and began eating them. Naruto took one of the suckers. "Didn't expect you to show up Shikamaru" Shikamaru shrugs "Well my mother wanted me to check up on you, you been in the hospital for two whole days" Now it was my turn to be shocked. Two days?!

"Has it really been two days?" I asked trying to confirm it "Yea. From what we were told you came down sick and passed out. Even my dad seemed a bit worried for you. He keeps saying how you're my only friend other than Choji." I nod my head "Well other than Naruto you two are my only friends" We share a chuckle and spend the next few minutes talking before they leave. Thinking back on what Grandpa said I clench my fist 'Yes. I have things I want to protect. Naruto, Gaara, my friends. I won't let anything happen to them so long as I am here!' my eyes burned with conviction.
