5 Entrance Exam 2

I wonder if they bet on children here?

No, probably not. Hopefully not. Anyway, I do see Amaterasu Senko here. I can see the correlation between one of the mothers here. She has the same dark hair and green eyes that Rasu does. Except, for some reason, her mother looks ashamed of herself right now. I don't know why because Rasu is doing pretty good in her match.

The children are using real weapons, although they do have medical nin around the area. Most matches have referees, some others don't. I think they should have set this up better. The village really hasn't been the same since the 4th hokage's death two years ago, plus Orochimaru's defection a year after. In the past decade, the village lost a lot of good players. Obviously, we still have strong people, but the morale was severely effected.

Actually, on some people, it has the opposing effect. Many people are veering for their children to become the next Konoha prodigies. I can see the pride in the eyes of the parents whose children are winning their matches.

The way that they select two people to fight is that they call up two names from a long list on a scroll. "Kanata Kagura vs. Hitoshi Hyuuga. Please come up to arena 13." Each arena for the matches were marked with a smaller sign than the one marking the parts of the test. There were 30 arenas since the place was not extremely large.

'OH SHEET' I almost forgot about the match. I really need to stop those internal monologues. Anyway, I made my way over to the arena marked "13". It was honestly just a circular dirt patch with an indent in the ground. It was worn from how long it was used in fights today.

My opponent, Hitoshi Hyuuga, had the signature Hyuuga branch family milky white eyes and brown hair. He had a weird expression on his face, almost like he was seeing something else entirely. Or he was just on drugs. Actually, he honestly did look as high as a kite.

The instructor, seeing as we were here, said, "Please make the Seal of Confrontation." The Seal of Confrontation was half of the ram hand sign. It meant that you wanted to fight the person in front of you, used as a traditional sign of sparring. Both of us made the seal and, when the referee gave the signal, slid into our fighting stances.

Now, I am at a huge disadvantage against a Hyuuga. The only thing I legitimately practiced since coming to this world was just taijutsu. I can't do any other jutsu since ninjutsu scrolls are restricted to shinobi. It would be stupid of them if it wasn't, there would be more uprisings from civilians. Reminds me of a certain country I won't name.

Anyway, the Hyuuga clan's main medium is taijutsu paired with their dojutsu, the Byakugan. It allows them to see 359 degrees around them(there's a small opening in the back of their head) and see chakra coils. It makes them lethal with their "Gentle Fist" fighting style, where they hit directly on the chakra coils and close them up temporarily. This can basically immobilize body parts.

Most of them are trained at a young age against their other clansmen, making them unmatched at taijutsu, while I was extremely rusty as I haven't fought a single person before coming here. Although I had most of my katas engraved into my head, my muscle memory had dulled and I needed to get back into my groove.

As soon as Hitoshi dropped into his stance, he dashed forward with one fist cocked back. Closer up, I could see that he was mumbling something. As I read his lips, I could only make out two words. "I must..." was all I could make out before I could dodge. It also seemed that he had not activated his Byakugan, so he might not have awakened it yet.

I slid over to the left, but he shifted into a sweep mid-punch. I almost got caught by it, but I leaned back and did a handstand just in time to go over his legs. Taking advantage of my situation, I leaned forward and attempted to kick him in the head while still standing on my legs. Instead of dodging and allowing me some breathing space, he grabbed onto my legs and activated his byakugan.

'Sh*t!' Instead of waiting for him to throw me to the ground, I grabbed one of the arms holding my leg, catching him by surprise, and he accidentally let go of my legs with how hard I wrenched them out of his grasp. Then, I twisted and attempted to kick with my leg at his face. He stepped back to not get his eyes dirty from my shoes, but my legs suddenly went down. I yanked him towards me before punching him in the stomach.

Hitoshi spit up some saliva, "Ack!" as shock was evident on his face. The only emotion he actually displayed during the fight. I subconsciously shifted into my original stance as I kept punching, to which he could only block the strikes. Eventually, I mis-stepped and he quickly seized the opportunity to seal the chakra coils on my arms.

"Alright, the winner is Hitoshi Hyuuga!" The referee announced, seeing as my arms weren't working anymore.

But Hitoshi didn't stop.

He kept attempting to hit me, to which I had to jump backwards a few feet to dodge him. Now, I could see a crazed look in his eyes, and it looked like they were trained on me. "Hey, stop it!" The referee was quick to pull him away from me. Now, I could kind-of hear what he was mumbling. He was growling; "I must crush him..." every second. Despite the fact we were six, it creeped me out a little.

Another Hyuuga clan member, of whom I assumed was his mother or something, picked him up by his arms. As soon as Hitoshi saw her, he immediately went limp before going back up a second later.

He proceeded to act like a normal child, completely disregarding the fact he had just attempted to pummel me. The referee just wrote down our performances and called up the next two people to fight.

'What the actual heck...' His mom just carried him away, slung on her back. Now he just had that blank look on his face.

...

I had to sit out for a little bit while a medical ninja tended to my arms. I hope I at least got a good score on the lackluster performance I did there.

In truth, I don't understand why other people don't try to memorize and hit where the chakra coils are. Its a lot like chi blocking in Avatar but way more overpowered. Not only does it stop jutsu from being made, it also stops the movement of the arms.

I assume the Byakugan allows that ability or else chakra pathways would be open and closed from punching the right place. I guess that and a free ticket to the sensory ninja division is what made the Byakugan OP.

The medical ninja finally tampered with my chakra coils enough to where I can move my arms at a reasonable pace. The final area, Area 3, was a charisma portion of the test.
