4 Shallow lake

After a ten minute, VERY awkward walk into the dark woods, we finally reach the lake.

The sparkling waters really do calm my nerves. I come here often, just because nature invites me so. It's like I have a connection to nature, especially the water element. I really love to swim in The Shallow Lake. The water is so fresh and crisp, so warm yet so cold at the same time.

But this time, I've got a beautiful company.

My mate.

I unconsciously giggle and skip a step, jumping on a heap of crusty leaves.

"Oh? You look very happy here R-Ronald. Is this your secret hideout?"

She called me by my name...

"Kind of...? This place calms me down." I say with a smile, still contemplating holding her hand.

"Alright..." I need to let her know...

"J-Jane...?"

"Yeah? "

"I have a secret of mine to share."

"Okay. Go ahead" the green flag was given and I breathe in a huge chunk of air. Let's do this!

"I'm an elemental..." I watch as her eyes grow in size, the cuteness growing ever so gradually which makes me chuckle.

"Too shocking, is it?"

"V-very..." my smile falls when I percept her thoughts.

"Hey, I'm never going to hurt you. I'm a good guy." her subtle nod is not very consulting, instead is very concerned. Her thoughts are very transparent, and I need to prove it to her that I'm never going to hurt her.

After a few minutes of eerie silence, I slice it down with casual talk.

"I enjoy being around nature, especially the water and the trees. The birds love me a lot." I awkwardly giggle at the end. After a while, she responds to me in a small voice.

"H-how do you enjoy your time with birds? Don't birds fear the wolves?" she seems comfortable... Just a tad bit but that's progress.

"Not all the time," I answer her.

"Not when you're an elemental..." I add, twirling the air and closing my eyes. Cyan light sparkles in my hands and I diverge them onto a canopy.

"W-what...what did you do? Whoa..." oh my moon goddess, she looks like a small kid!

Small birds, sparrows, and cuckoos chirp around and fly around us. I smile as I hear them greet me, immediately bonding with me and a few taking a rest on my shoulders and arms.

"Oh my lord this is so cute!" Jane exclaims, trying to reach out to pet a birdie, but the small sparrow jumps away from her touch. I widen my eyes and try to converse with the bird.

'What's wrong birdie? She won't hurt you'

'Human...bad...' she replies. My brows knit together and I try my best to ease the small sparrow who isn't too familiar with the humans.

"What are you doing?" Jane asks all of a sudden, cutting our conversation.

"This little sparrow is too shy." Jane smiles and giggles, stepping back and giving the bird some space.

'See? She's not going to hurt you birdie'

'Okay' the little bird flies and lands on Jane's hand. Her hold on the little sparrow was so delicate, so loving. I want to be held like that too, with those warm hands.

All of a sudden, the bush behind us starts to rumble, startling Jane.

"W-what was that?"

"It's Mr. Bunny!" The said bunny jumps out of the small bush, hopping it's way to us and snuggles close to my body.

"Hello cottontail!" Mr. Bunny responds to her sweet call. He hops around me and goes to her, playfully nibbling on her skirt. Jane picks Mr. Bunny up and makes him comfortable on her lap.

"This bunny is so cute!" she pats his fluffy head, his extravagant white fur amazing her greatly. Mr. Bunny then jumps off her lap and goes on with his small adventure for food. I too, stop my magic and the birds fly back to their nests, to their families.

"Beautiful..." I smile, a little bit too sheepishly and I fall back on the leaves with a sigh. I feel so calm right now. The pressure of being an elemental is tremendous, hence, such breaks from life are all too necessary for me to function rationally.

When I open my eyes, Jane was staring at me with her eyes sparkling like fireworks. She catches me off guard when she leans down and lays her head on my chest, getting comfortable around me.

"Jane...don't you uh...get those shocks now?" she lifts her head and looks at me cutely before touching my arm. She doesn't flinch but closes her eyes and smiles.

Oh...I feel something too...

That sparkling, electric shocks you get when your favorite person touches you for the first time. It felt like that. It felt over worldly. It felt...awesome.

We open our eyes at the same time, our orbs connecting gazes quickly. There's so much I need to know about her, and its the right time to do so.

"Jane, may I ask you some questions?"

"Of course you may Ron."

Here does nothing. I speak out the first question I have running in my mind.

"You seem very close to your friends. Why are they protective of your though? I mean, don't take it wrongly. I'm just curious about why are they so overly protective of you." she giggles at my question.

Her hand slowly crawls on my chest and my breath hitches at the sensation bubbling in my stomach.

"That's not something I should really decide to tell you but, it's just their nature. To be protective and all. They just feel I'm too naive."

"Trust me, they're not wrong."

And you'll be in my protection from now on, Jane. You're my little princess, and I'm your Knight in shining armor, forever, till death tears us apart.

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Yes."

"For an alpha, AND an elemental, you seem pretty friendly and...You know, laid back. You're not like the other alphas who are so ready to kill anyone any time. You're...nice, I guess." I laugh at her small talk. My chest shakes with my laugh and she looks at me with that lovely gaze which makes me melt into a puddle of soft emotions.

"Yeah, I am. And I'm glad I wasn't brought up like that. Personally, I don't like the stereotypes of alpha wolves being stern and commanding all the time. I think the ranks of a wolf shouldn't affect how you treat them. It's utterly pointless." I say honestly.

"Yeah..." I get caught off guard again when she replies to me in a small, sad voice.

"Hey...are you alright?" I ask her.

"Yeah, I am. Just...did you know I'm an omega?"

"Figured it out just the next second I saw you. Your friends are betas, right? That's why they want you to be safe. You're a very naive OMEGA." I say. I completely hold back the urge to kiss the crown of her head and say that it's fine to be an omega. Kiss her cheeks and say that she can be herself when around me.

It's not uncommon for an omega to feel pressured when an alpha is around them. Alphas expect their omegas to be homely and take care of the pups.

And that absolutely disgusts me.

Omega wolves are just seen as breeding wolves who should dedicate themselves to their mates and take care of the wolf pups. Ew

This werewolf Society has to change. And I'll change it, for sure.

"So. Tell me more about your family." I divert the topic into something informative.

Unconsciously, my hand raises and brushes the soft, silky strands of her hair and we pause for a brief moment, processing what just happened.

"I- um, sorry. I won't do it agai—"

"Do it again" she cuts me off. My brain shuts down for a second and I function again.

"B-brush my hair again, please. I- I like it..." she cooes in a small voice against my chest. I squeal internally and rest my head back onto the ground and continue to do just that.

She purrs so softly and honestly, my heart starts to become a circus of emotions.

"Uh, haha, so about my parents..."

"Yeah..."

.

.

.

.

"Well, my father is the King of Alphas and my mom is obviously the Luna of the wolves..."

Duck.
