12 An unexpected event

A small tour around the palace by the Princess herself and we finally halt by the throne room. I think I might've heard of it. It's where the most important decisions for the whole werewolf kind are made, am I right?

Probably am.

"Come on in, Ron." Jane drags me along with her by my arm, entwining hers with mine as the large doors open in slow motion. It a felt like that movie I watched with my mom. What was that again? Never mind.

"Well well well..." My eyes widen at the voice which spoke.

It was the King...

I often heard the same booming voice of the alpha King in the news channels, the same dictatorial stern voice commanding millions through rallies and parades.

We walk closer to the humongous leveled up flight of stairs and there he sits on the throne, proud and jubilant.

I politely bow down to the King, feeling the serene aura of power and wisely around me. I almost drift out of my consciousness unless it wasn't for Jane who shook me slightly.

Great.

Being awkward already.

"Rise to your feet, son"

S-son...?

A small smile dances on my lips as I stand straight back up.

"So you're the elemental..." he says in an admirable voice, a bashful smile on his face. I can already imagine the situation.

All those smiles are fake, right? I'm gonna get beheaded soon.

"Come here, son." he gestures his hand to me to walk up the flight of stairs and greet him.

Oh great. He's going to bruise my legs by kicking me down the huge flight of stairs and then behead me.

I shake my head to dismiss the violent thoughts off my head and gulp before taking a step forward. I slowly, cautiously climb the steps until I reach the third last step away from the throne platform.

I stop abruptly when the king stands up, the smile still on his face. The Queen beside him holds no expression on her face. And it's the last view I'd want to see right now.

"Thank you very much son."

W-what...

I swear I'm not going deaf. My senses are working perfectly, but why did I just hear the King thank me?

"Thank you for saving my daughter." he adds on. Suddenly, he brings me into a right embrace and I try my best to not puff out air from my crushed lungs. The king is so string, ugh, I might've broken a rib or two.

"Y-your majesty..." I squeak out once I've had enough air fill back into my lungs. I widen my eyes, thinking I've defied the king but he laughs heartily when he breaks the hug, his hands holding my shoulder in a tight grip.

"Tough hug eh?" I didn't know whether to respond or not. If I shake my head no, they'll think I'm lying and proceed to chop my head off. And if I say yes, they'll see me as too rude for their daughter and behead me.

But my heads going to miss the body anyway, so might as well say the truth. I slowly nod my head and the King's laughter now resounds in the large room.

"You're a funny guy. I like him." he says with a smile. When I turn my head and look down at Jane, she claps her hands and proceeds to laugh her heart out. Soon, the King and the Queen start laughing too.

A let out a few chuckles, awkward ones, just to laugh along.

"Haha...haha...why are we l-laughing?" I add in while chuckling along.

"Oh nothing, my child. We're just happy people!" The Queen responds.

Oh. Well that's what everyone says when a person is being beheaded. Right?

"Let's take a walk, shall we?"

Should I say no? No. I can't.

So I nod my head and the King slumps his hand over my shoulder as we walk down the stairs.

"So, how is my daughter?" he asks suddenly. We were strolling through the beautiful gardens Jane showed me earlier.

"Jane...she's perfect, your majesty."

"No one's perfect in this world, son." I slowly turn my head to look at the King. Wise words...and they do make sense. There's nothing in this world which is perfect. And it's the truth.

"Well, Jane's really kind, your majesty. She's one of her own, and she's very, very beautiful. Inside and outside." I say. A tinge of pink dusts my cheeks when I recall our first meet.

And our first kiss...

"I see..." was his response.

We turn our heads at the happy cries of a child running around in the garden, his (supposedly) mother laughing and running behind him.

But there something which strikes my consciousness. My elemental instincts are kicking in...

What's wrong this time?

When I wonder what's the wrath that's about to come, I notice the glowing yellow flowers releasing bunches of pollen around itself.

WOLFSBANE...

"EVERYONE RUN INSIDE!!" I cry loudly, shaking off the King's arm from my shoulder and running towards the child who was attracted to the deadly flower.

I throw myself up in the air and take a giant leap towards the child, getting him off his feet and carrying him in the opposite direction. The mother soon realizes the situation, and runs straight back into the nearest room.

The Golden dust of doom is hot on my trail, and it's high time.

I quickly stop on my tracks and turn around, lifting my hand and summoning my powers to use.

White flame glows from my palms and soon a ball of white smoke is thrown into the golden dusts. The immediately, I create a barrier around us to protect us all from the blast which was about to happen.

In mere seconds, the wolfsbane explodes and the plant is completely damaged. The impact was so powerful that it took me back by a few meters.

An uncertain event...
