20 An Emergency

"Hey, baby girl." I say and witness the pure bliss given off of her. She throws her phone away and turns swiftly behind on her chair, hopping out of it and running straight into my arms.

"It's been just one day, darling."

"I know." I giggle at her response.

Awhile later, I try my best to put Jane under my spell and make her sleep. The sole reason to do so was because she refuses to let me go even after I've assured her that I will be back in less than a day tomorrow. I had the purest intentions in doing so, and I'm now jumping out of the large window and taking my flight all by myself back to my house.

I land in my bedroom and find my phone. I struggle for awhile to completely exit the feature or application or whatever you call it and switch it off for the day. Deep inside, I felt so bad for intending to ignore my mate like that when all she wanted was my attention.

Just one more day baby.

I'm going to make your life as bright as it can ever get. Just you wait...

In under an hour, I'm fully dressed and am leaping out of the window with my shoes to fly over to Dan's house, yet again.

"Bruh I swear—"

"Swear as much as you want. But right now, get your stinky bottom to the bathroom and freshen up. We're leaving in half an hour."

"RON YOU CAN'T ORDER ME IN MY HOUSE LIKE THAT!"

"Yes I can, and I will. Now shoo." I flick my wrist and push him into the bathroom, throwing the towel in and locking the bathroom door from the outside.

"RON YOU THWAT!"

"Yeah right..." I responded to no one in particular and find the remote to the TV.

There's only one channel number I remember until now.

And that's the channel to the news.

As soon as the channel pops up onto the screen, the anchor switches onto a clip.

A very disturbing one.

My eyebrows knit together as I lean forward to look at the screen closely.

"Two men, a woman and her child were caught captive by a rogue wolf. Notorious serial killer of the wolves and humans, Natalie De'Breu has now decided in showing herself to the public with another game of hers."

AGAIN?

"The clip—" the anchor now shows the clip of a masked, black clad woman holding a knife close to the poor captive who screams through the ragged face bag.

"Oh no..." I exclaim, when the screen goes black and white to secure the innocence of the public.

I'm too late...

I jump to my feet immediately, summoning my elemental.

The darkness seeps into my skin and my eyes glow wide and bright. Wings emerge from the back of my shoulders, and I immediately take flight.

"Hey Ron! I'm do— where did he go?"

"AHAHHAHA!" The evil laughter was heard from one of the compartments. It was an abandoned building, too close to the Cursed Valley which frightened me by a bit. I'll have to be careful, so as to not serve anyone to the vengeful Gridges.

Eerie silence lurks in the atmosphere after the laughter dies downs to an echo.

I keep levitating mid-air, just to be sure I do not give away my location.

But apparently my wolf possesses a strong scent on himself, affecting me and my elemental forms. I take extra measures and lock the air to myself so that the scent of mine doesn't travel to distances.

I finally find the assaulter.

The rooms set up is gory and dark, the only light coming from between the bars of the window at the top corner.

The three adults hang upside down, and the child is nowhere to be seen.

The camera in front of them focuses on the three.

And there she was...

Chuckling quietly to herself whilst sharpening a knife.

My heart almost stops when the woman speaks up.

"So you're finally here..."

H-how did she know...?

My hands fall limp to my sides when she says that.

No regular wolf, or even a rogue one like her would've recognised me when I'm INVISIBLE and blocked my scent.

Unless...
