2 Chapter 2 : New faces

School was better than I expected it to be.

My bad night hadn't messed up my day like it would usually.

"So have you talked to mom yet about tonight?"

"Not yet but I will now." I said taking my phone out of my back pocket and shutting my locker.

While Nikky and I walked to her car, I texted mom to ask if it was fine for Nikky to spend the night since tests are done and graduation just in a few days...

Can she please spend the night?

~Nash

Sure sweetie!

As long as you girls help with the kitchen tonight after supper!?

Anyway, my sweetie, I have to go.

"So we stopping at yours first?" I asked my bestie.

"You sure it's fine with your parents?" Nikky asked.

I showed her the conversation I just had with my mom after we got seated.

"Cool.....Can we make a stop for something to munch?"

"Sure, can't let my BFF starve now can I?"Traces of sarcasm dripping from her voice ."Well...I do love food! So you're off the hook.....for now!"

"Ha. Yea yea you love me!" I answered while pushing her shoulder softly and earning a glare in the process.

On our way to Pj's Diner, we chatted about normal teen girl things.

As we walk into the diner and the bell above the door chimed and we are greeted with a warm smile from Sara, the cashier.

Nikky's Uncle owns the diner so everyone knows us here.

"Hey ladies! How are y'all Today and what can I get you, girls?"Sara asks while we make our way over to the counter to place our orders.

Making our way over to her I scan the room and I notice a new face.

We reach Sara and Nikky asks for our usual.

Sara hands us our slip after we pay while kindly asking us to wait over at the barista counter for the rest of our order.

I got a Strawberry latte with a hint of mint( I love mint okay!?)and a chocolate twist(a very delicious pastry).

Nikky got herself a normal cheeseburger with fries, onion rings and a caramel infused iced cappuccino.

"So do you have any idea who the new face belongs to?" I ask in a soft voice so only Nikky can hear me because my curiosity is getting the best of me.....

What do they say? Curiosity killed the cat...

"No idea but I'll be back now!" and with that, she was off to her uncle's office as he was exiting it.

"46" I heard someone call.

Looking at the slip in my hand, I notice it's our order.

"46 your order is ready!"

Sliding out of the booth I was sitting at, I quickly make my way to the beverage counter placing the slip on the counter so he can see it's for me.

"Your order" is all he says while sliding our drinks over the counter in my direction.

"Thanks!"

While turning on my heel, I stop and I turn back around facing the barista again.

He is busy so he hasn't noticed I'm still standing in front of him, clearing my throat he looks up at me a little surprised.

"Uhm..sorry don't mean to bother you while you working!" I say

"No problem! Was there something with your order?" he asks me looking at the cups in my hands a little confused then bring his eyes up again to meet mine.

Recognition and alarm shine in his eyes for a quick second before going back to normal. If we weren't making eye contact I would've missed it.

His eyes are the same green emerald colour as mine but there is ting of silver here and there. I notice there is a slight scar above his right eye going into his hair.

Holding our gaze I get a familiar feeling.

"Uhh... Oh no. No problem. I just had a question?"

Why does it feel like I know him??

"Sure...?" was his reply.

"Do we...Uhm...I mean have we met before?" I asked feeling kind of ashamed to be asking such a question.

I feel so bad if I forget who someone is.

He stared at me for a few moments.

After a short while, he opened his mouth to say something but closed it again, then he answered...

"We...Uhm....I'm..." he stuttered and took a breath and spoke once more " I don't think so!" he looked kind of unsure of his answer he has just given me...

"Uh okay...I guess! Well sorry if I made you feel uncomfortable...I didn't mean to. You just look so familiar!" I said

"Nash! You coming?" Nikky saved me from embarrassment just as my cheek began to feel flush...

"Bye Nash!" the barista calls as I'm about to leave the diner, with a slight smirk on his face.

"Bye...."

"Leo!"

"Bye Leo!"

Once we are out of the diner making our way to my besties car she had to ask.....

"So Leo ey?" with a raised eyebrow and a cheesy smile on her face.

"What are you talking about?" I asking climbing in the passenger's seat, giving her a very confused look.

" Don't act dumb! I saw you two!" she said matter-of-factly.

"What? No!! It's not like that... I just thought I knew him from somewhere is all." I answered still confused as to why he seems so familiar.

"And do you?"

"Apparently not according to him..." I said with my brows furrowed trying to remember where I saw him.

After a few short moments of silence.

"Don't hurt yourself!" She joked.

"Ha ha." I said with an eye roll.

She left me to my thoughts the rest of drive to her house.

"Wanna wait in the car or you want to have another run-in with my brother?"

Nikky asked with a chuckle as she got out of the car sending a wink my way.

"Oh please. No! Please, That was humiliating!!" I commented quickly putting my hands over my face to hide my red cheeks.

I heard her laughing at herself as she was making her way to the front door to her parents' house.

Why did she have to bring up that situation again? Ugg I wanted to kick myself so hard that day.....

~FLASH BACK~

Nikky told me that Charley was at rugby practice. After I had finished my shower, I forgot my bag in Nikky's room, so I made my way out of the bathroom assuming we were still alone at her house to go get some clothes, when all of a sudden I got knocked off my feet and landed on my backside. Looking up at was caused me to hit the ground, my eyes immediately meet a set hazel eyes.

The eyes of Charley O'Brian who not supposed to be home yet.

Why me??

Thank goodness I had a tight grip on my towel so nothing was showing, or else I would have wish for the floor to swallow me whole.

I used to have a little crush on him when Nikky and I first became friends, and I still like him a very little bit but I feel alot more comfortable around him now.

"Waoh Nash!" he looked down at me just as shocked as me" Come on!" he said giving me a hand to help me up.

A few moments passed when he had to remind me that I was still in a towel with my ass on the floor, I was still in shock. I could feel how red and hot my face from the encounter.

"Helloooo!Nash!" snapping his fingers to get my attention " Are going to get up off the floor or is it that comfortable?" he asked clearly amused raising a brow.

"Uhh... Oh, yea!" I said totally embarrassed and I took his hand to get up"Thanks"

As soon as I was on my feet I made my way to Nikky's room as fast as possible and shut the door immediately.

Turning around to face my best friend.

" I thought you said Charley was at practice?"
