61 Summoner VS Tamer

Nova felt like a deer in a headlight.

『Uh… Thanks!』[Nova]

He walked out of the room with Sir Fluffles calmly, much to the surprise of everyone outside.

Raina got off of the floor and was extremely confused.

『...Wait! What was inside?! What the hell was that noise?!』[Raina]

Nova pulled Sir Fluffles up a little and showed him off to the people present.

『...I found my partner! He was in there.』[Nova]

『...What the hell is that?』[Reagan]

He stared at the dog with reptile like wings and a dolphin tail.

『...Oh. I remember. We didn't have anything in there. How did he get in there?』[Raina]

『Is there a barrier of some kind that keeps mana from going out?』[Nova]

She nodded.

Nova looked at Sir Fluffles.

『Hmm… can you show me how you got in there too? I'm wondering.』[Nova]

『Okay! I'll show you my special technique then.』[Sir Fluffles]

To the others, Sir Fluffles responded by barking.

He jumped from Nova's arms and into a black and white flame that exploded from nowhere.

『Woah! What the?!』[Nova]

Immediately after, he disappeared from the area as if the flame turned him into nothing.

Seconds later, a black and white flame burst from above Nova and he instinctively put his hands out to catch the dog.

He landed in Nova's arms with a satisfied look on his face.

『Did I do well?!』[Sir Fluffles]

『Yeah, you did great!』[Nova]

Nova scratched behind his ear.

『Hehehe. Sir Fluffles is happy.』[Sir Fluffles]

『A teleportation ability? So he's kinda like me...』[Nova]

『...What the hell? I've never seen a creature like this before...』[Reagan]

Reagan looked to Raina, but she shook her head as well.

『I can only think of a few creatures that can teleport around, but they aren't anywhere as cute and cuddly as that one.』[Raina]

The scene of Nova playing with Sir Fluffles was interrupted when the class all came charging at Nova though.

『We thought you were dead!』[Thomas]

『Yeah! Seriously!』[Marn]

『Haha! Me? No way!』[Nova]

Everyone crowded around Nova… except for Sophia.

『Don't worry us like this anymore!』[Katherin]

『Class would be quiet without you! Stop doing stupid things!』[Jenny]

Nova suddenly felt a hug from behind him.

He turned around and saw Anastasia.

『...I was scared.』[Anastasia]

He didn't really know what to do… so he just gave her a smile.

『...I'm sorry.』[Nova]

She also had a half smile.

『...It's okay. You came back.』[Anastasia]

And thus, while the children partied, the adults worried.

『...Is the creature malicious?』[Reagan]

『Doesn't look like it.』[Raina]

Nova looked over at Reagan, and the entire class scattered a bit.

『What color shined when you formed a pact with it?』[Reagan]

Nova thought for a moment, before remembering that dazzling white and yellow.

『Two colors. White and yellow.』[Nova]

『...Huh?』[Raina]

Raina began to look worried and confused.

Reagan had a smile on his face.

『Remember what I said about researching a summoner and a tamer?』[Reagan]

After Nova's issue had been sorted out, Raina had ordered lunch for the students.

Reagan and Raina sat away from the students however.

『Why didn't you tell me you were coming earlier?』[Raina]

『Hmm… I just felt like visiting.』[Reagan]

『Huh?! You put me through all that trouble because you wanted to visit?』[Raina]

Reagan had a slight smile on his face.

『What if I said I wanted to see you?』[Reagan]

She had a pink blush on her face, but it seemed that she enjoyed Reagan's flirt.

『...Then I think I prefer that reason instead.』[Raina]

Her flushed face soon disappeared though.

『But still, Nova is partnered to a creature that hasn't been documented yet.』[Raina]

『Yeah. Not to mention, he formed a pact with his summoned creature before even summoning it.』[Reagan]

『What do you think the implications of that are?』[Raina]

『...Well, summoned creatures are sustained off of their partner's mana, right?』[Reagan]

『Right. And tamed creatures must eat food like a human.』[Raina]

Reagan cleared his throat, drawing the attention of the class.

『Huh? What's up, Reagan?』[Marn]

『I'm gonna teach you a bit more about your creatures while you eat.』[Reagan]

Marn poked the squirrel like chunaru, which caused it to fall over and sit on his shoulder.

『Hehe.』[Marn]

『The pros of summoning a creature include it disappearing when heavily damaged, an intensely strong psychic bond with the creature, and the ability to call forth and recall the partner creature.』[Reagan]

He then looked at his wife and nodded his head.

『Then, the pros of taming a creature are that it sustains off its own sustenance, grows individually from the partner, and that it relies on its own mana and not the partner's.』[Raina]

『Then, what kind of partner do I have?』[Nova]

Reagan shrugged.

『No idea. You exhibited a golden color which meant a pretty good affinity with your partner, but the white is that of a summoner with an orderly alignment.』[Reagan]

『An orderly alignment?』[Nova]

Reagan nodded.

『An orderly alignment refers to the type of personality your partner has. White means that it is less likely to cause harm to others if it can help it. If you had a black or red color, we would have exterminated the partner on the spot.』[Reagan]

Nova then looked at the dog with wings right next to him.

『You sure are lucky, aren't you, Sir Fluffles?』[Nova]

Suddenly, Thomas stood up.

『Wait! What did you name him?!』[Thomas]

Nova was confused at why Thomas did that.

『...Sir Fluffles?』[Nova]

『And.. You couldn't choose a manlier name?』[Thomas]

The girls seemed satisfied with the name though.

『I think it fits.』[Jade]

『Yeah! It's good.』[Jenny]

『I also do like the name.』[Anastasia]

『Huh?! Then.. me too!』[Sophia]

Even Sophia agreed.

『...But… Nova is one of the coolest people in our grade..』[Thomas]

『Huh? I am?』[Nova]

Thomas and Marn stared in shock.

『...You didn't know?』[Marn]

『Know what?』[Nova]

『You're one of the most popular people of our grade. You already have a reputation for beating the food challenge on the first day of school, then you beat Anastasia! No offense.』[Marn]

Anastasia nodded.

『...But Sir Fluffles likes his name..』[Nova]

Reagan cut into the conversation.

『Can you understand your partner, Nova?』[Reagan]

『Huh? Yeah.』[Nova]

『Oh! I can too!』[Marn]

He realized that he forgot to specify what he meant

Nova nodded, which caused Marn to be confused.

『Huh?! I can only understand the meaning behind it, I can't put it into words per say.』[Marn]

『...Can you ask your partner to go home?』[Reagan]

Nova looked down at the dog that sat on a chair.

『...Sir Fluffles, will you go home?』[Nova]

He put his tongue back into his mouth and sat there as if he was thinking for a moment.

『...Don't want to! Sir Fluffles wants to stay with Nova!』[Sir Fluffles]

Nova turned to Reagan and shook his head.

『He said he wants to stay with me.』[Nova]

Reagan had a complex expression on his face.

『...Then, can you ask him to go rest?』[Reagan]

Nova went over to Sir Fluffles a kneeled to the ground.

『Sir Fluffles, please go rest.���[Nova]

『...Hmm. Okay!』[Sir Fluffles]

He jumped at Nova's face, causing Nova to bounce back, but the expected impact never happened.

When Nova closed his eyes, he felt a cool burning on his forehead.

Once he opened his eyes, Sir Fluffles was nowhere to be found.

『Woah! Nova! The dog just jumped into your forehead!』[Marn]

『Where did Sir Fluffles go?!』[Jenny]

『Huh?! What just happened?!』[Nova]

He looked around to find not a single trace of the dog.

『...Summoner requirement one, check.』[Reagan]

Reagan seemed to be making mental notes.

『Summoned creatures can enter a mental space of the master's body, or they can go back to the place they originated at.』[Reagan]

『Huh? Where do the summoned creatures come from?』[Katherin]

『They come from many different places. As for Xandis, even I'm not quite sure.』[Reagan]

He looked at the snake on his shoulder and its scales before looking to Nova.

『Can you ask for him to come out?』[Reagan]

Nova nodded.

『Sir Fluffles? Can you co-』[Nova]

Without even being able to finish his sentence, Sir Fluffles jumped out of Nova's forehead and ran around in circles while barking.

『I missed you! I missed you! Arf!』[Sir Fluffles]

He then flapped his wings before he jumped on Nova, knocking him down to the ground.

『...Okay. Here come the differences.』[Reagan]

Reagan stared at the dog.

『It seems the state of existence is more of a tamed creature. He exists in real life, but since he is a summoned creature, he can take advantage of most of the pros that come with being one. On the other hand, he can also take advantage of being a tamed creature.』[Reagan]

Raina chimed in.

『In that case, that probably means that he grows on his own, along with Nova. This means that he should have a higher growth rate, no?』[Raina]

Reagan nodded.

『That sounds right...』[Reagan]

He sighed and shook his head.

『...I think the real confusing creature here is Nova.』[Reagan]

Not expecting this, Nova pointed at himself.
