The Girl No One Noticed

"Kyra!!!" I suddenly opened my eyes to my mother's voice.

I'm not a morning person. I prefer late nights over early mornings. Now that my mother became my official alarm, I can't shut it down on my will.

I woke up and got ready for my college. Before going downstairs I gave myself a look in the mirror. My long black hair was hidden with short blonde hair was falling on my shoulder, braced teeth made my smile even more ugly, black-rimmed glass shifted the attraction from my ocean blue eyes, artificial freckle masked my flawless face, oversized sweatshirt and baggy jeans successfully covered my curves. Satisfied with my looks, I went downstairs to have breakfast.

"Morning, Kyra." My mother greeted me.

"Morning, Mom." I greeted her back. I took my seat at the table and started to have my breakfast.

"I think it's time for you to make some friends." She said looking at me from head to toe.

"Mom, you know why I don't make friends." I said

"But-" she started to say something.

"No buts. You know it will bring no good." I interrupted her. She sighed knowing there is no point in arguing.

I gave her a goodbye kiss and headed to my car.

I parked my car on the same spot I have been parking for a year. I walked towards the college. As I looked at my surrounding, I saw I'm the only one walking alone. How lonely is my life? That thought made my heartache.

There are two reasons why no one wants to be my friend. Firstly, no one wants to be friends with nerds and secondly, my unique appeal attracted no attention. But on second thought that's exactly what I wanted. I shook my head to get over the unwanted thoughts.

My seat in the class was fixed. It was near the window, where no one was disturbed and where I enjoyed my time with myself. Usually, the seat next to me stays always vacant as no one prefers to sit beside me.

I approached my seat but before I could sit someone else sat on my chair. My eyes scanned the person who takes over my place. I was surprised to see the person. It was Alec McDorman. I don't know much about him. All I know is that he was Mr. Popular of our campus. All girls are crazy for him for some unknown reason. Maybe it's the look that lured all girls around him. I have no interest in him and it's my first time seeing him so close.

"Excuse me, this is my seat," I said politely.

He raised his head towards my direction and a frown appeared on his face.

"Really, I don't see your name written on here." He said.

"But." I stopped mid-way. I was really annoyed but I don't want to seek any attention so I silently sat down on the seat next to him.

As the class started, I could feel strange glares on me. I felt uneasy. I gave a small peek from the corner of my rimmed glasses. I saw Alec glaring at me. I gave him a confused look. He grinned at my reaction. I looked away from him and focused on the lecture.

Now I'm getting really annoyed as he started to tap on the desk with his pen and the sound was a major distraction.

"Can you please stop that?" I whispered to him.

"Why?" he asked.

"Cos, I can't concentrate," I said keeping my temper in my control.

"No," he said with a smirk. I really wanted to hit him on his face.

"Mr. McDorman and Ms. Rosenstein." Mrs. Smith called. My eyes widened as I heard name-calling. It's the first time that a teacher ever took my name.

"If both of you have so much to discuss, then get out of my class. NOW."

Her voice echoed in the classroom.

I took my belonging and went outside the classroom. Anger flashed on my face. It's all because of that stupid Alec that I had been thrown out of the class. I never want to face him again in my life. I thought.
