Only the beginning

The dark silhouette got closer until she could see his face and the bouquet of dahlias that he was holding. 

With a small smile on his handsome face, Ashton held the flowers out to her.

"For the most beautiful soul I've ever met." 

It was like a fairy tale. 

Emmaline fought to stay cool instead of melting into a puddle of feelings. 

"Soul not person?" She teased, trying to find her footing and not get swept away by how amazing this was. 

Ashton's green eyes traced her face and then he stepped back to look at her entire person. 

"You are, without a doubt, the most stunning being," He breathed so sincerely that Emmaline felt her breath catch in her lungs. 

"But more than that, your heart and mind and soul are equally if not more breathtaking," He finished, a winsome smile lifting the corners of his lips. 

Emmaline had no idea how to respond to such a heart stopping and genuine comment.
