26 Epilogue

Luna collapsed to the ground. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. All this time, all this time she believed in Zorn. Zorn was the one who brought her there.

– ALL OF YOU… EVERYONE… Not a single region knows all of what happened to Naela…

– Naela… it's been so long since I've heard that name… —said Sophie—.

– Of course! Because all of your beautiful regions exploited and destroyed us! You don't know all the hardships my family went through to survive! We had to move to Raela… which it's in ruins too.. FOR REGIONS LIKE YOURS, LUNA! —he pointed at her again—.

Luna, who was one the ground, looked up pointing at herself.

– M-my region?

– All of the regions… Raela, Zaela, Kaela, Xaeva, Taela, Laeva, Gaeva… every single region took advantage of us… but Maeva… MAEVA… was the one who finished the job of completely destroy us… I've finally… finally made them all pay for it…

– S-stop playing with us! —Ethan aimed back at Zorn—.

– Play? Me? YOU PLAYED WITH NAELA! As if we were simple toys… you exploited us… I swore to take revenge…

– B-but what happened with Dominik! Dominik sacrificed himself for you… — said Sophie with a small voice—.

– Dominik? Sacrificed himself? He was simply blind.

Ethan bit his lip; he was starting to get desperate. He just needed to kill Zorn and he would come out alive. He was just seconds away from pulling the trigger, but Luna pushed him, making him fall down.

– Luna! What are you doing! He's a monster!

– You're not much better than him... —she said pointing at him—

– Zorn… —said Luna, crawling to where he was— all of this is a lie, right? You… you're my friend… right?

– Friend? Mmm… for a moment I did consider you my friend, but this is another thing, Luna… or should I say, Maeva.

– W-what?

Hearing that name, Sophie opened her eyes in shock.

– D-did you say Maeva…?

– Didn't you notice Luna was the legendary Maeva? The one that they took to another dimension to protect her from the wars? They wrote the book that she has for a reason, for her to never forget who she really was.

– It-it can't be… —Sophie too, fell to the ground, starting to sob—.

– Elise noticed it at the last second, yes… I remember it. That was when I killed her. —he lightly laughed—.

In that moment, Luna tried to stab him, but Zorn was quicker than she was and grabbed her by the wrist.

– Not so fast, Luna.

Zorn stood off the ground.

– Time to end this.

Out of his hand, a scythe slowly started to materialize. No one could believe what they were seeing. In that moment, Ethan spoke up.

– STOP.

He shoot out but failed.

– ZORN, please... —said Luna—.

Zorn first killed Ethan. Luna saw in her wrist that Ethan didn't appear anymore in the screen. Ethan wasn't in this world anymore. Luna covered her mouth with her hand, shocked.

– I was so tired of him... Maeva. —he looked at her— He and Necole were the ones who stabbed you.

– What...?

– Next, you, Necole.

– I'm not afraid of anything.

– Heh.

Zorn proceeded to kill her. There were only Sophie and Luna alive.

– I'm sorry, L-... Maeva... —saying that name was really weird for her— I couldn't protect you or Elise... at least... she saw you. —she started to cry— At least Elise found her sister. —she said sobbing with a smile—.

– N-no, Sophie... stop... —she said while sobbing—.

– Enough.

– NO!

In that moment, Zorn decapitated her. Luna couldn't believe her eyes. She felt like she was living in hell. A nightmare. A nightmare that never ended.

– Next, you, Maeva.

– Zorn... why are you doing this?

– Didn't I said it before? It's revenge. You would never understand. You were in a dreamland. Your parents saved you... but not anymore. I searched for you for YEARS. And I finally found you... and I will make you pay for your region. The daughter of the most important people in Maeva.

– I'm sorry... I'm so sorry for everything you had to go through...

– Don't try to understand how I feel! —he slapped her— None of you would understand... But it's over. Everyone is dead. And, it's your turn, Maeva.

Luna was sobbing. She couldn't even stand up. She was in the ground, feeling empty. The book was meaningless. She remembered her family. She remembered playing a lot with her sister. Going out with her parents. Her school days. Everything passed in her mind.

– Do you... do you remember the play we did, Zorn? Where we were the protagonists? That was a dream for me... It was so magical... showing the world my favorite book... with you...

– ...

Zorn looked away.

– Kill me, Zorn. If that's going to make you feel better.

Luna grabbed the scythe and put it on her neck. Zorn looked at her, emotionless, decapitating her in the spot. Everything went black, and Zorn was the only one who got out of the pod. He walked up to Luna's pod and looked at her.

– I'm sorry, Maeva. I did consider you my friend.

Right then, voices started to be heard outside the coliseum. Zorn smirked. Everything was over, and he had finally finished his long awaited revenge. He made his way to the entrance.

A group of armed forces destroyed the door that was sealing off the coliseum and could finally enter. Zorn weakened it so that once the game ended, they could enter. The group approached him.

– Are you alone? What happened here?

– Didn't your leaders tell you…? There was a bloodbath in here… someone manipulated everything and instead of solving everything it was a killing spree…

– Yes… we know about that. Was it you the one who did this?

– No… but I discovered who it was and killed her.

– Good. What's your name and from which region are you from, kid?

– I'm Zorn… from Raela.

They took Zorn by the arms and got him out of the coliseum, careful to not harm him. And so, no one knew what exactly happened there, and no one ever will. Zorn got out with a bitter smile on his face.
