1 Chapter One

~July, 2015 Bay City, Michigan~

~Sky's POV~

My name is Sky Dean, I am 17 and I'm about to be a junior in high school. I'm from Toccoa, Georgia, but I moved to Bay City, Michigan with my dad and step mom after my grandpa past away at the beginning of this year.

It's been a while since I've tried to talk to anyone. After my grandpa passed away it's been pretty hard for me to socialize with people and I just haven't wanted to be around people. I honestly just want all the pain and heartache to go away, but I can't bring myself to end it even though I've tried so many times.

I was on my phone one day, during summer break, when I received a message from a boy. No idea who it is, I decided to respond back anyways. I think I've seen him around school before, but I'm not sure I kind of stopped paying attention to the other kids around me. Maybe I can change that about myself over the summer, I know i have friends that care about me, but their all back home.

I went back to my phone and saw that the guy messaged me back asking how I was. I wasn't going to tell him how I was really feeling, so I told him a small lie and said I was fine, I was polite and asked him how he was doing in return which was met with "I'm fine as well." I had a feeling that wasn't true, but what could I say I didn't know him. We continued messaging for the rest of the day until it was time for dinner. We said our goodbyes for the time being and I spent dinner time with my family before retreating back to my room to read and listen to music like always.

~couple days later~

I was outside with my dog and little brother just enjoying the summer heat, or what little summer heat you can get in Michigan, I was just walking around the neighborhood with my brother following closely behind and my dog trotting along in front of us. I know there are a few kids that live around here due to having to catch the bus with them before school let out for summer. Not all of them are nice but some are I became friends with the nice ones during our ride to and from school. I hope we don't end up running into any of them right now, I'm not in the mood to deal with people old enough to talk.

As we were making our way around for the second or third time a few of the kids decided to come out and join us. I wasn't really comfortable with it as they started talking to each other and occasionally tried to talk to me. I was polite enough to join in every once and awhile, but it started to be to much so I politely excused myself to quickly make my way home with my little brother and dog before returning to my room to be alone.

Once home and in the safety of my room I checked my phone for any messaged to fine I had a few from the boy. I almost forgot about him, he must be worried since I didn't message him back. Over the last couple of days we've grown closer together seeing as how we had so much in common, except I'm a few years older than him. He seems like a really nice guy, and you would never guess that he's actually pretty young, he acts like he's my age if not older.

~couple weeks later~

I was sitting in the kitchen on my phone, I was home alone that day, when I started thinking about how my life turned upside down after my grandpa passed and I started thinking about how all the kids at school would bully me for no reason. Thinking back on everything that I went through caused me to became really depressed. I don't know why, but I just got up wanting to end it all and went to grab a knife to finally end it.

Not long after my family came home to find what had happened, they took me to the doctor, but all the doctor done was tell the obvious that I had depression and suicidal thoughts then put ,e on medicine for it. The doctor wasn't much help honestly, but i took the medicine for a few weeks before I decided that they weren't helping me any seeing as how I tried to commit suicide again.

In the end I figured the only way I would remotely try to get better was if I moved back down south with my grandma and the rest of my family. At least there I knew I had friends and family there that actually care about me.

I think it's time that I move back home.

~Isaac's POV~

Abuse. Suicide. Discord.

I thought my mom was my friend, until she started drinking. My first beating happened on a school night, my sister and I were talking when we were supposed to be asleep. My mom heard us.

"What are you doing up!" she yelped at us.

"Isaac woke me up again!" my sister argued to my mom.

"What? We-" I said, cut off.

My mother pulled me by the hair and threw me into a bedroom hard and my sister watched the beating, as it played out. The next day, I was getting ready for work and my sister was getting ready for school, her Sophomore year of High school. Her name was Bianca. She had tan looking skin with chocolate brown eyes and hazel brown curls for hair. I had a brother, half brother, he was my father's son, but he ended up dying; at least that's what I've been told by my father. Sadly that was the only time I met my dad. He worked nonstop.

I was getting ready for work, at Jingles, a grocery store in the south. While I was searching for my work uniform, I accidentally bumped into my mothers bed and her journal plopped off her bed and onto my feet.

"What is this?" I asked myself.

I searched the room to see if my mom was nearby and I immediately opened the journal. I began reading it, skimming through the pages. I gasped at the sight of what I saw and stopped at a recent page, at least according to the date. It stated: I have been drinking too much. I hope my son doesn't find out why...I can't stop thinking about my step-son, the guilt, it's so strong. If my son ever found out I killed his step-brother, he'll be devastated...

I reread the page to make sure I wasn't hallucinating. I began to hear footsteps, so I rushed to the bedside table and hid the journal there. I grabbed my work uniform and fled the scene.

~The next day~

I woke up and got dressed for school. It was Senior year and I was ready to quit. I tiredly walked toward the restroom and I saw a knife through the ceiling.

"Sis! Is this your knife?" I shouted to her.

She ran in and shoved me into a wall. "Don't touch it!" she belched at me, pulling her knife out of the wall. I weakly got off from the ground and finished getting ready for school.  The moment I got there, it was huge with a stream of lockers in every corner and a combination of multiple classrooms. The teachers would greet the students once they arrived, except me.

One day James, a bully,  was out to bully my buddy Connor. James was exactly six foot and hated Connor's guts. I tried to defend Connor, but instead my Math Teacher, Ms. Jane, only sent me to the Principals office without letting me speak. Another time, I got an allergic reaction to some M&M's that my Gym teacher Mr. Owens got us, and he didn't help me at all with my breathing. He just stood there, watching my air supply go down. The worst time was when James called me ugly so I called him a jerk, and Ms. Jane just called the police on me because she thought I was assaulting the student just because I was mixed.

I walked into my first period classroom and ran into my buddy Connor. He was thirty two and still lived with his parents. He had an athletic build, light blue eyes, and a chiseled baby face. His hair was neatly combed upward, and it was a blonde color with powder white highlights. He gave me a high five and we sat down together in Ms. Jane's classroom.

The classroom had streams of annoying posters of equations on them and the desks were neatly stacked in rows. The sun sprouted through her windows and the rays would blind our eyes. Today we had a math test. I studied, but couldn't really understand the work. When it came to math, my brain just couldn't process it well. I would look around and there would be math geeks flexing their finished assignments in class. They would zoom through those huge assignments like it was nothing!

The test began and I was nervous, but the sight of my crush calmed me down. Her name was Harley. She was Korean with circle lens glasses, which made her eyes look bigger. The lenses also brightened her eyes, making them appear chain grey. Her hair was smooth and looked like it had no tangles. It was long, curled, and dark brown. Like every girl at my school she wore makeup, but she was really good at it because it looked so natural.

When the test ended, I walked up to her. She stood up from her chair, wearing her usual over sized clothing. I touched her back to get her attention and she turned toward me and I blushed immediately at the sight of her. So beautiful, I thought. She smiled at me, with confusion in her eyes.

"Isaac? You there?" she asked me. I forced myself to laugh and she giggled. "Why don't we-" she was about to say, before she was interrupted. "HARLEY, JOSHUA ASKED ME OUT!" a random popular girl yelled out to Harley. "Wow!" Harley exclaimed at the girl. Harley stopped to look at me, and placed her hand on my shoulder. "I'll see you later." she told me, lightly biting her lip. "Bye." I responded back to her.

Connor walked up to me, smiling. "Your lucky I'm your friend, because I would kick your butt for flirting with my sister!". "Lucky me." I responded to Conner. I slipped on the floor and fell on my face. "You okay, man?" Connor asked me, concerned. I cautiously looked up and saw a man who looked exactly like me standing there, watching me from the hallway.
