Chapter 6

Layla didn't sleep, no, she couldn't sleep after what happened. She didn't even want to leave Alex's side, she wants someone to be there for her, she just can't accept what happened. She's furious but at the same time she feels empty because she has no family left, no guardian, no anything, she's all alone now and she's not sure what'll happen to her. She could be visited by someone saying that she needs to leave the house or she needs to have foster parents but she's going to talk to Amon tonight again and she's really angry at him more than she's angry at herself for not noticing how weak Sir Arthur is and more than she's angry at Sir Arthur for not telling her what's wrong because at least she could have said goodbye properly. She has her nice classmates but they're not her guardian nor related to her, though she's every grateful for all of what they've done for her, she just doesn't want to bother them anymore or annoy their peaceful lives because she feels so selfish about that. Like she's ruining their lives when it shouldn't be like that.

Alex was really nice for a new student and he even let her soaked his school shirt with her overflowing tears. They were all there for her and she cries even more because of that. She didn't want to leave their side at the same time so she almost revealed her ugly true self that no one shall know, not even her parents know it so she just couldn't be that careless. She couldn't let her emotions drive her over to be careless, she just couldn't risk it because she doesn't want to lose all of the people that means to her a lot at the same time.

The reason why Sir Arthur is gone because he's old and he has a very weak heart and something or someone triggered it too much to make him die in Layla's arms. He even told her to save herself and she wasn't so sure about what that meant so she's confused and all she wants to do is cry and never wake up until someone volunteers to be her guardian but the kind of guardian that's nice as Arthur.

She's just laying on her bed, wide-awake, while tears come out of her eyes every now and then. There's a moment that she thought she'll not cry again but when she suddenly thinks of everything again, she just cries and cries, quietly. Her eyes and nose are swelling from crying too much and her head hurts like there's a heavy pounding in her head but she just feels numb. She's just laying on her back without moving or being too noisy, even if her stomach's rumbling from not eating anything since breakfast.

She's just waiting for the right time to come so she can speak to Amon but at the same time she's waiting for something or someone to show up into her house and be there for her, she just couldn't acknowledge what happened. She's too sad about everything that has happened in her life and she doesn't think anyone deserves it but she knows that she shouldn't be mourning too much or else she'll get more depressed and the feeling that she doesn't want to live anymore can stay inside her mind.

'Just for now, I promise to myself and my family that I'll be okay.' She thinks, inside her confused mind. Just give her a night to let out all of the sorrows although she doubts that she'll let out all of her feelings today as it is forever in her life, wherever she goes the memory is always with her.

She wiped her tears with her shaky sweaty hand and she fixed her messy hair. She hugged herself and the pillow that's between her legs and she finally stops crying but the numbness worsens. She feels so dirty and like she's a different person, she can barely recognize herself or her life right now.

Time went by slowly and she can only hear her muffled sobs that are daring to come out of her eyes though she doesn't want to cry anymore and the shaky breathing that's torturing her into madness, driven by the anger and the different overflowing emotions she can feel now. She waits and waits until finally, the time has come to meet the angel. Amon shows up into her dark room with another human disguise but even better now as he can honestly pass as her big brother because of the similarities in how they both look.

Layla stands up from her bed and ran weakly towards him while her brows are furrowed in anger, she punches him over and over again on his chest with screams and cries. "Why didn't you help me?! I needed you and you weren't there! I thought you're an angel! Why would you let this happen to me?! Have I not been tortured for all of my life?! Aren't you satisfied with that?! WHERE WERE YOU WHEN PEOPLE NEEDED YOU?!"

Amon, being a soulless demon also feels numb and can't feel hurt so he just let her punch him all over again and again but the force of her hands due to anger is too much even for him so he tried grasping her wrists to stop from doing anything more idiotic things. Amon suddenly feels different, like he can actually feel emotion because right now he feels sorry for not helping her and it's new to him and he's scared of what will happen if he continues to feel a human emotion that demons aren't supposed to feel. He might be punished and be vanished into the thin air.

Amon looked at Layla as she continues to scream at him but he now stopped her from punching and Layla just fists his shirt tightly, turning her knuckles white while crying weakly. "Layla, I'm sorry but the old man's time has really come to an end and even angels can't do anything about it because that's human life for you. People need to die because it can drive them insane if they live forever in the cruel world." Amon told her with sad eyes that only humans have the privilege to feel.

"Demons...Devil. Maybe they can help me if angels can't." Layla muttered while her body slowly falls and collapsed into the floor, making her foot misplaced and strained horribly but she doesn't even notice the pain that's coming from her ankle as her head heart more and the pain that's coming from her aching heart that's been broken for many times. Amon kneels down and helped the girl get on her feet to walk towards her bed but she pushed him away from her.

Amon sighs in misery. "Layla, even demons or the devil can't help you because that's how human life works so stop being so disobedient and let me help you."

Layla just stayed still and quiet, finally giving up because she's too exhausted and pained from everything. Amon picks her up and carried her bridal style like they way Alex carried her earlier and Layla suddenly thought of it and she laughed, hysterically, like a crazy person.

"Two people have carried me today because I can't carry myself because I'm too weak. Oh, and you're not even a human! How amusing is that!" Layla exclaims, like a drunk person, she has lost herself and she's acting like an insane person.

Amon just placed her on the bed and tucked her in the blankets, he caressed her hair while looking down at her, seeing her swollen eyes and nose, her lips dry and pale, her whole face looks so dead, and she's running a high fever. Her condition right now looks worse than ever and Amon is too lazy to heal the girl in the underworld so he just used his demon powers, whatever he has to ease and cover her true self although her high fever is supposed to be healed with care and attention that she needs.

Layla looked at him with heavy eyes. "I need you now. At least help me now and be my guardian."

"Yes, Layla, that's what I plan to do." Layla falls unconscious, resting peacefully but not after a single tear falls into her cheek and Amon wiped the tear and watched her as she sleeps, not leaving her side.

Amon backs away from her and paced back and forth inside the dark and cold room, wondering what has gotten into him. He feels so human and he's disgusted with himself for being like this but now that he has felt It already, there's no turning back now.
