11 Chapter 12

Ivar

She looked so beautiful as she lay on my bed. I picked up her robe that she dropped on the floor, folded and placed it beside her.

Something urgent had come up and I had to go back to lumeria immediately, my parents would come back later.

I leaned in and placed a kiss on her cheek, she stirred but didn't wake.

"I wish I didn't have to go",I whispered.

I turned away and walked to the door, opening it and closing it behind me.

I entered the carriage to the portals, back to lumeria.

I remembered what she said last night.

"I think I like you, I guess".

I chuckled, if only you knew I felt the same way.

"We're here, your majesty", the coach said stopping.

I came down from the carriage, walking into the palace.

I thought about the recent problem. Elix was planning something big.

I pushed the doors open to meet the council.

"Your Majesty", they greeted as they stood up.

I took my seat at the head of the table and signalled for them to take their sit.

"What is the emergency? Give me the updates".

Blade came forward.

"As you know, I went on a mission as a spy to see what those filthy Aridites were up to. It wasn't easy but after a month of being undercover, I saw something disturbing".

I told him to come over, if I touched him,I could tap into his memories and see what he saw.

Immediately I touched him, what I wanted to see make its way into my mind and I linked it to everyone's mind in the council.

"It was hard coming back but I managed without being detected, I feel this is just a figment of Elix Joyner is thinking".

I could feel the tension in the air, this was not good at all.

Fletch, my most trusted adviser rose to his feet and spoke.

"Your majesty, if this is a figment of his imagination. I'm afraid it will lead to something devastating. I strongly advise you to tie the knot with the chosen one, Princess Iris of Axona immediately. I'm afraid what her grandfather predicted is coming to pass", he finished and sat down.

Truly, what we had all seen from Blade's mind was bad.

I thought of the great evil that lay deep in the ground, beyond the blazing palisades and the forbidden land of Avalon - Raginor.

Iris

I was standing in the balcony. It's almost like I could see the entire Axona from up here and the view was magnificent.

That was weird.

I was afraid of heights.

Before I could think about it any further, I felt arms wrap round my waist, I turned to face him.

"Ivar", I smiled, all my worries melting away as my favorite grey eyes stared at me.

His grip on my waist tightened.

He smiled at me as he kissed my head, then both my eyelids down to my cheeks. He pulled back, looking at me.

His thumb brushed against my lower lip.

"Iv-".

"Shh", he said as everything faded away including him.

The scenery changed. I was falling into a volcano erupting molten magma. All I could see was fire and burning images flashing through my head.

"AHHHHH", I screamed opening my eyes.

I managed to clamp my mouth shut, hoping no one heard me.

I sighed, it was just a dream hopefully it stays a dream. I was still on Ivar's bed, in his room. I looked beside me, he was no longer there.

He was gone.

I sighed again getting out of the bed. I caught sight of a paper lying on the dresser. I opened it. It was a letter.

Good morning Iris. I'm sorry I left before you woke up. You looked at peace laying on the bed, so I didn't want to disrupt that.

Something urgent had come up that I had to attend to.

You're not still done with your punishment. You'll complete it when we see again.

But I must say this, Iris as it bothers me.. Why do you snore like a pig?

I covered my mouth as I gasped. I could feel my self turning red like a tomato. Was I really snoring?

No wonder he left early.

I looked back at the letter to complete reading it.

Just joking, I can imagine your face as red as your hair now. Though keep in mind. One day, I'm going to take you up to the tallest tower in zyen.

The view is really good.

Till next time, my queen.

                       -Ivar.

I squealed internally, he called me his queen.

And I was happy I didn't snore. Geez, imagine how embarrassing that would have been.

I saw my robe neatly folded on his bed. I grabbed it and slipped it on, walking out of his room.

I stopped and decided to teleport. I don't know how I did it last night but it's too early to be scaring myself.

I snapped my fingers, closing my eyes.

I won't be lying now Ivar.

When I opened eyes, I was in my room. I realized I woke up too early, at least before the entire castle did.

After the festivities yesterday, they should be tired.

I freshened up not bothering to disturb Deena and Lisa.

I decided to go to Grandpa's grave again.

Ky had taken me when we came back from Lumeria.

As I passed the fountain, I sighted the glass house grandpa was buried in.

I placed my hand on the door knob and turned it open. I had come here before but I was still in awe at the beauty of this place.

A statue of Grandpa was erected in the middle, then the rest of the grave was covered in beautiful flowers. They didn't exist on Earth and one of the rarest in Zyen- the sunan.

I picked a few and proceeded to Grandpa's grave. It was made with marble.

I ran my hand over it, dropped the flowers on his grave and read what was engraved on it.

         LUC NILAN

         1938—1998

A great father, fighter and most importantly a great person.

"Grandpa, you were a really good person huh? I didn't get to see you so why does it feel like I know", I said fondling the band that was once his.

I should probably start going.

I stood up and turned to go but I wasn't in Grandpa's grave house anymore. I was in the middle of nowhere like literally NOWHERE.

Everywhere was blank, empty and pure white.

And no matter how far and fast I continued to run, I still reached nowhere.

Well I was already there.

I sank to the floor tired out.

How the hell was I going to get out of this blank place.

"You should give up running, you can't get out of this place at least not until I want you to".

I turned to see the owner of that voice. He had red hair, blue eyes and looked to be in his 40s.

More interesting, he looked familiar...

"Grandpa?", I said.

"Well, at least I can say that my granddaughter recognizes me", he replied.

I was shocked, surprised. Like isn't he meant to be dead?

"Relax I'm dead", he said.

"That's means I should be scared right?"

But I wasn't scared at all. Instead of running,I walked up to him and touched his cheek.

"It really is you Grandpa. Like I finally get to see you. I've heard so much about you. Wait if you're dead and I'm seeing you, does that mean I'm dead? Or even better is this heaven. Geez, if it is. That's a bummer, I imagined heaven to be more beautiful. No offense but this place is a little bleak. Hope no angel is going to throw me to hell-"

"Shh", he said placing a finger to my lips.

"You talk way too much", he paused, chuckled then continued.

"you're not dead and this is not heaven. As much as I'll love to sit and chat.  I have something important to tell you, more like show you".

He held my hand and waved his other hand in the air.

All the blankness disappeared. We were in the same place in my dream, the erupting volcano.

It looked very scary but Grandpa held me and nodded in reassurance. He looked at the volcano and asked me

"What do you see?"

"Lava erupting".

"That's the problem".

"Why?"

"The volcano shouldn't be erupting, it should be out cold because what holds this volcano down isn't natural occurrence but magic, forbidden magic".

"Why?", I asked again.

He sighed and said

"Before the time of Louis, when king alphas didn't exist. There was a man who specialised in dark magic, in summary he was a very powerful man and the people feared him.

Despite that, he still sought more power, his love for power was beyond this world.

One day, he disappeared. That was a relief to the people, they didn't have to be living their lives in fear. No one knew where he went to but some people said he went to search for the power that he wanted.

Years passed and he returned but not as a man, as a monster. He got the power that he wanted but at a cost, he lost the little humanity he had left.

He wrecked havoc on the people for years. Finally a group of witches used forbidden magic against him banishing him beyond the palisades, deep under a volcano, sealing it".

"That's means now that the volcano is melting, he is coming back", I said.

"That's right".

"But how?"

"With a little help from someone you know".

"Elix Joyner".

He nodded in affirmation.

"What I'm saying is that, you need to be one with Ivar as soon as possible. When two people become one, their powers increase because they want to live for each other. Normally, we would leave nature to take its course but time is not on our side. This may be too much to ask but it is worth the sacrifice".

He came to me and wrapped his arms round me, engulfing me in a hug.

"I trust you, Iris. You can save Zyen",he said.

"I won't let you down, Grandpa".

"I know".

I hugged him tighter.

"What is the name of the monster?"

But he wasn't there anymore, leaving me to hug the wind as it blowed heavily, carrying everything away.

"Raginor", his voice echoed.

And with that, he was gone. Everything disappeared and I was back in his grave house looking at his grave.

I bent down and touched his grave smiling. I knew what I had to do, for peace to reign.

It felt like the void in me was filled up a little lessening the pain that harbored in me.

Smiling to myself, I made my way out of the grave house.

I whispered to myself.

"I promise you Grandpa, I'll destroy Raginor and more importantly Elix Joyner".
