Practice Make Perfect

Previously, Tucker had relied solely on spiritual perception to gather information from newspapers and pamphlets. He never delved into telepathically reading extensive books, leaving him unaware of the full potential of spiritual perception for wizards.

It wasn't until Tucker officially commenced his studies under the tutelage of the undead wizard, Aubrey, that he realized "spiritual perception" was a skill honed by god-level wizards. Typically, a book packed with relevant knowledge would take one or two months to read, but through spiritual touch perception, Tucker could devour the content in just one or two hours, with the knowledge becoming a living part of his mind.

When Tucker needed specific information, his [Accuracy] skill and his grasp of spiritual perception's teachings seamlessly intertwined, enabling him to effortlessly tap into a wealth of pertinent knowledge and information in a flash. What's more, Tucker noticed an intriguing phenomenon: as he learned, his understanding of the world expanded alongside his knowledge.

Although Tucker's unique path of knowledge acquisition differed slightly from the "Memory Hall" talent exclusive to some [Wizard Scholars], the outcome was quite impressive. His knowledge context could store a vast amount of information, and he possessed the wizardly ability to absorb knowledge by touch. Tucker eagerly soaked up the foundational wisdom of wizardry knowledge like a sponge, even earning praise from the necromancer Lord Aubrey.

Through discussions with Master Aubrey, Tucker discovered that wizard abilities like [Spirit Sensing] were relatively rare. In addition to his daily studies, Tucker dedicated himself to practising various aspects of sorcery. Even with the assistance of system bonus points, true mastery of sorcery demanded practical application, the establishment of connections between spells, and readiness for complex combat scenarios.

When Tucker practised sorcery, the rat skeletons in the tower bore the brunt of his experiments. Luckily, there was an ample supply of skeletons available in the tower, and their role wasn't solely tied to the demise of the ecosystem, as they absorbed the transformed undead energy from the bones they interacted with.

As time passed, Tucker's life proceeded steadily, and this was the phase he cherished the most: consistent development. The system provided him with a continuous influx of "source experience" and "talent fragments," and Tucker, in turn, put in dedicated effort. His growing strength was evident of this with each passing day.

...

In the dark, Tucker had reached the depths of the Bone Cave, a rat skeleton joyfully scuttled among the bone heaps. The sound of ribs and bones clashing echoed as the skeletons instinctively absorbed source energy from their surroundings, particularly the converted undead energy stored within the bones.

Suddenly, the rat skeleton shivered.

The rat skeleton sensed a chilling presence ahead, something that filled it with terror. It felt as if countless tribesmen had met their demise at the hands of this horrifying entity. Faintly, it detected the sorrowful cries of its people within the aura of death.

"Quick...escape..." The rat skeleton's biological instinct urged it to flee from the terrifying being.

"It made a quick escape," Tucker remarked, observing the rat skeleton that had hastily scurried away moments after it appeared. "The underground world's extraordinary ecology has the trait of [Hunting]. While I gain source energy experience from killing rat skeletons, the reverse is true as well. Due to their death characteristic, the weaker rats have started to fear me."

Initially, Tucker had been perplexed by why the rats had become afraid of him. However, as he delved into the fundamental knowledge of wizards regarding the Ecology of different creatures, he grasped the reason. He had hunted so many rats that he had essentially become their "natural enemy."

Tucker then shifted his focus back to the task at hand. Before him, he held a lantern without a wick. In his hand, he cradled a small sphere, about the size of an egg, radiating a vibrant light. This tiny sphere was Tucker's creation – the Light-Shaping Spear.

"The core concept of the Light Shaping Spear is to harness the power of light through sorcery and spells, then condense it into a spear. In my case, I've chosen to condense it into a small light ball. It's just as effective, and its shape is more stable, making it easier to maintain the spell," Tucker explained to himself.

He continued, "This small sphere can last for at least three days, but if the energy used during its creation is reduced, it can remain illuminated for six or seven days. A significant amount of energy experience has been invested in perfecting this spherical form, but it has been worth it."

Tucker stretched his arms after sitting for an extended period. In the Land of Ashes, having a dependable and easily produced light source was crucial. Previously, Tucker had used kerosene bombs as his method of creating light sources, but they were prone to extinguishing.

The "Light Shaping Spear·Ball," with its divine aura, was not only a stable light source but also a powerful two-star offensive weapon. It possessed the strength to penetrate the body of a second-level extraordinary living wood leather armour and a second-level extraordinary hunter, making it nearly indestructible.

Tucker carefully placed the "Spear of Light Shaping Ball" inside the lantern, and the light, imbued with a sacred aura, radiated through the lantern's six-sided glass, creating the appearance of a radiant six-pointed star.

Combining magic with everyday life was Tucker's approach to using witchcraft. As a wizard, he didn't restrict himself to using his sorcery solely in combat situations but rather integrated it into daily activities.

Standing up, Tucker sensed his depleted source pool, leaving him feeling somewhat drained. The continuous condensation of light-shaping spears had left his source energy exhausted.

"After all, the source pool of a level 12 wizard isn't quite large enough, and the stored source energy is insufficient," Tucker mused, shaking his head.

"As a wizard, it's impossible to be careless with my source energy," Tucker reflected. "Here in the Tower of the Undead, safety is assured, and source energy can be swiftly replenished. That's why I can use my source power so liberally. However, outside these protective walls, if source energy runs low, it becomes a matter of peril."

"The development of the Dark Sea of origin needs to be expedited," Tucker continued. "I mentioned to Lord Aubrey earlier about potentially utilizing the Tower of the Undead's source pool for some time. I wonder if Lord Aubrey has considered the proposal."

Throughout his study period, Tucker didn't lose sight of his top priorities: exploring the "Dark Sea of origin," acquiring a replacement for his "Wizard's Ring Staff," and undergoing the "Baptism in the High Tower Source Energy Pool." These were the key elements in enhancing Tucker's overall capabilities. Furthermore, the development of the Dark Sea of Origin and the High Tower Source Energy Pool baptism could conveniently coincide.

Upon his arrival at the Tower of the Undead, Tucker noticed a multitude of undead ravens perched on the skeleton railing outside the tower. However, as he approached, they took flight with a chorus of raucous cries. Among the departing ravens, one remained behind.

"Lord Aubrey!" Tucker greeted the stationary undead raven with a respectful bow.

"Proceed to the tower hall," Aubrey's voice emanated from the unmoving raven.

Tucker's heart quickened. "Yes!" he replied.

Before Tucker departed, the undead raven threw a fleeting glance at the lantern in his hand and offered some advice. "You've mastered the Light Shaping Spear quite well, but refrain from practising it here any longer."

Tucker was momentarily taken aback, only then realizing he had inadvertently unleashed the power of light near Master Aubrey's vicinity. He hastily dissipated the Light Shaping Spear Ball. "I apologize, Master Aubrey, for my inconsiderate practice earlier. Please forgive me."

A slight nod from the undead raven signalled its acceptance of Tucker's apology. "Very well," it replied. "Now, come along."

With that, Aubrey's power dissipated, and the undead raven launched itself into the air with an agonized cry, fleeing the site. The sacred light Tucker had wielded was nearly incendiary.

Tucker sighed, rubbed his brow, inhaled deeply, and proceeded to enter the Tower of the Undead.
